Michele Bachmann said President Barack Obama can’t relate to “the common man” because of his extreme wealth, failing to note that GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is worth hundreds of millions more. “President Obama is extremely wealthy,” Bachmann said when USA Today asked how someone with “vast wealth” could connect to the American public. “He and his wife have been wealthy for a number of years, and so I think that’s really the issue. President Obama is wealthy–what does he understand about the common man right now?” According to financial disclosure reports released by the White House in May, the Obama’s hold assets worth between nearly $2.6 million and nearly $8.3 million. It’s really no surprise that Mitt won the GOP Presidential Nomination today; Romney finished with 2,061…well over the 1,144 needed to claim the nomination but Republicans are not excited about Mitt. What many don’t know is that the Republican Party is severely divided. …the Republican National Convention has hardly played out according to the script that Mr. Romney’s advisers had written. The storm scrambled the convention schedule, while grass-root elements of the party loudly expressed their disapproval on the convention floor, threatening the images of a party united. Mr. Romney’s supporters passed new rules governing future primaries over the loud boos of Ron Paul supporters and other conservative activists who had objected to what they said was a power grab by the party’s establishment leaders. When the House speaker, John A. Boehner, called for a vote on the new rules, the chants for “no” were louder than for “yes.” Mr. Boehner ignored the protests, pressing ahead by saying the rules would be adopted “without objection,” even as the crowd continued to roar its disapproval. Despite the dissension, the task at hand remains: to use the most-watched moment of the Republican presidential campaign to humanize Mr. Romney in the eyes of voters with personal testimonials from his friends, his colleagues and — perhaps most importantly — his wife. The vote to approve the rules came after aides to Mr. Romney said they had reached a compromise with conservative activists who had rebelled against efforts by the Republican establishment to make it harder for candidates outside the mainstream to collect national delegates at the next convention. But grumblings persist among some delegates and other conservatives who say they do not trust Mr. Romney and organizers of the convention to have their interests at heart. “We were told no signs are allowed,” he said. The Utah station, KSL-TV, said it won’t broadcast New Normal when it premieres this fall. New Normal is based on a single mother’s life as she becomes a surrogate for a gay couple and ya know…that’s bad. “After viewing the pilot episode of The New Normal, we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule,” Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL parent company Bonneville International, told Deseret News. “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.” Crude dialogue, explicit content and offensive characterizations were the main reasons why KSL-TV would not bring New Normal to air when it launches Sept. 11. She went from innocent to Person of Interest real quick! And now, the case may end up being closed altogether since Lindsay’s “friend” recanted their story they’d originally told police. The strugglin’ actress was partying at a friends swanky home in the Hollywood Hills and crashed for the night along with other guests. Lindsay also brought two additional male friends with her to the party who also spent the night. When everyone woke up the next morning, the owner of the home claimed expensive jewelry had been stolen from the property. Lindsay insisted she had nothing to do with it. According to TMZ , Law enforcement sources tell us they are not ready to call Lindsay a suspect, but they are suspicious of her actions at a house party where 2 watches and an expensive pair of sunglasses — total value $100,000 — supposedly went missing. We’re told Lindsay let 2 friends into the house and cops think when they left they took the goods … and she may have been in on it. But now there’s a twist in Lindsay’s favor. We’re told the owner of the house has recanted his story and written a letter to cops saying nothing was stolen. Of course, it flies in the face of his actions Sunday night when he called the cops and made the theft report. Michael Lohan tells TMZ, “After personally speaking with the homeowner, there was NOTHING stolen from his home. Lindsay has no involvement and the owner has told the cops that.” We’re told as of now the matter is still under investigation, but if the “victim” recants, it’s unlikely the case will proceed. 57 CEO’s Saved At Least A Million Last Year Due To Bush Taxes We thought this was some pertinent information for illustrating why the Bush tax cuts need to end RIGHT NOW. The Bush tax cuts, again, are set to expire at the end of the year, and President Obama has promised to veto any extension of the cuts on income in excess of $250,000. Of course, Republicans are opposed to anything but a complete extension. In a new report, the Institute for Policy Studies shows just how unnecessary the tax breaks on high income are, noting that last year, 57 of the top 100 CEOs in the country saved more than $1 million due to the Bush tax cuts alone: – CEOs have benefited enormously from the Bush tax cuts for upper-income taxpayers. Last year, 57 CEOs saved more than $1 million on their personal income tax bills, thanks to these Bush-era cuts. – The top CEO beneficiary of the Bush tax cuts in 2011, James Mulva of ConocoPhillips, saved $6.7 million. Mulva cashed in more than $140 million in stock options in his last year at the energy company’s helm. IPS added, “All the CEOs on this list certainly saved significantly more from the Bush tax cuts than the sums listed here, since they had additional income from other sources, including their investments.” In recent decades, CEO pay has absolutely skyrocketed, leaving worker pay far behind. It would take the typical American worker 244 years to earn what the average CEO now makes in one year. Over the last 30 years, CEO pay has increased 127 times faster than worker pay. Four Star General Under Investigation Over Inappropriate Spending Guess those Secret Service agents who got popped with them hoes in Colombia aren’t the only gov’t cats feeling the isht hitting the fan right now. Gen. William “Kip” Ward has been under investigation for about 17 months, and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is expected to make a final decision on the matter before the end of the month, according to several defense officials. The defense officials said Ward is facing numerous allegations that he spent several hundred thousand dollars allowing unauthorized people, including family members, to fly on government planes, and spent excessive amounts of money on hotel rooms, transportation and other expenses when he traveled as head of Africa Command. A four-star general is the highest rank in the Army. While the exact amount of alleged misspending was not disclosed, the estimated total raises comparisons with the $823,000 allegedly spent by dozens of employees of the General Services Administration, who were accused of lavish spending during an October 2010 conference at a Las Vegas resort. Officials described the investigation to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it is a personnel matter and the report on the investigation has not been released publicly. The Defense Department inspector general has completed its investigation into Ward’s activities, and the issue is under legal review. Dang, they think this guy spent close to a milli! Spirit Air just got dat azz caught in a crazy lie! The airline was reportedly enforcing phony passenger fees that were disguised as a mandatory Government charge! The lawsuit was filed by a Miami firm and it is asking a U.S. District Court to collect “unspecified civil damages and attorney’s fees” from the shady airline company. The suit claims that between 2008 and August 2011 Spirit violated anti-racketeering laws to charge a passenger usage fee that the airline represented on its website under a list of government-imposed fees. The fee, according to the suit, was simply a scheme to collect more money from passengers while advertising what appeared to be a low base fare. The passenger usage fee ranged from $9 to $17 per flight segment, according to the suit, which also claimed that since 2008 the airline has collected about $40 million as a result of the fee. “Spirit misleads customers to believe that the PUF [passenger usage fee] is an official government tax or fee when in fact the fee is nothing more than additional air fare because Spirit does not provide a bona fide service in exchange for the PUF,” the suit claims. Spirit may offer discounted rates but is one of only two airlines that charges for services like carry-on luggage, which is free on others.
