CNN correspondent Rosa Flores asked a woman by the name of Danielle about her experience protecting her children in the flood waters just moments after she arrived at the shelter. To provide context, this was after waiting for 36 hours for help from emergency services which never came, forcing this woman to wade through 4-feet of contaminated flood runoff to a nearby gas station to hail a cab to the help center. SMH. This mother has been through the ringer with her two kids, and clearly wasn’t feeling being asked about her situation before having a chance to get her family settled in. Splash News Dog Shelter Puts Lena Dunham On Blast After Returning Puppy For Made Up Reasons Lena Dunham has some explaining to do… The Girl’s actress put up a puppy PSA about how her dog of 4 years had to be returned to the shelter she rescued it from, because it had been “abused” and went on and on about his “challenging behavior”. Literally, no one asked her to do that. But, she went into detail about Lamby being abused repeatedly before she owned him. Peep her caption: In return, Yahoo New s decided to contact the shelter to see what was up wit Lamby, and they proceed to rip Lena’s azz to doggy chow over her lies. “We checked the records for Lamby,” Robert Vazquez told Yahoo Celebrity via email. “He was ‘owner surrendered, not enough time,’ so we do not know where she got ‘multiple owners that abused the dog.’” (In her New Yorker piece from March 2013, Dunham said the dog had “three other homes, three other names, but now he’s mine mine mine.”) “When she adopted the dog from us, it wasn’t crazy,” Vazquez continued. “I have pictures of the dog loving on Lena and her mom, which is weird if the dog was abused. It wouldn’t be cuddling with her or be in the bed with her ‘boyfriend’ in the pages of Vogue .” (Lamby appeared with Lena in a 2014 Vogue spread , which also featuring her co-star Adam Driver. The dog, which seemed like a trained pro, was with the pair on city streets , in bed , and chilling with the pair in the bathroom .) Vazquez says he personally was there “the four times Lena visited Lamby” prior to the adoption “because I’ve been in-charge of the dogs for the last 14-15 years at BARC. If Lamby had a bad past or was abused, do you think BARC would have adopted him to Lena knowing she’s a new star and put her — or the dog — in that situation? We would have told her if the dog had issues. We are a no-kill shelter . We don’t lie about the dogs’ histories because that gets them returned — and mentally it’s not good for dogs…. “It’s just hard to believe the dog was nasty when she took Lamby to every green room with her when Girls was still a thing 4 years ago.” Why would she volunteer a LIE like that?? That’s against the rules, and since the dog was found wandering the streets and emaciated, it was extra against the rules. Anna had signed a contract with the shelter stating that she agreed to give the dog back to the shelter if she could no longer care for it, she didn’t do that, and now they owe the shelter $5,000. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the whole mess brought up the fact that back in 2011, Chris gave their 15-year-old cat away. On Twitter. “Bottom line,” he wrote at the time, “and not that this is any of your f-cking business weirdos, but my wife and I want to start a family and we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have an animal that sh-ts all over the house.” “Sorry. If you are a parent you will understand. And if not, that probably explains why you have such a hard on for cats. Just sayin’.” He sounds like such a heartless dick there, right? Anyway, the point is that Chris and Anna used to be great, now they’re not, and so we can’t help but feel kind of “eh” about this new interview Anna did. Well, it was not so much an interview as it was a little chat with Isla Fisher on her podcast, but the subject was cheating rumors and marriage woes. Anna revealed that she and Chris “grapple with a lot of the ideas of being a public couple ,” and things got hard last year when “there was some tabloid rumors about strain in our relationship.” Remember that? It was when Chris was filming Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence, and there were rumors upon rumors that they were having an affair. Which, come on, of course there were rumors. Anna told Isla that “I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me, because I didn’t want to think of myself as somebody who could be affected by tabloid sh-t.” “I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris,” she explained, “but having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, like any normal human would.” Sadly, she said all the rumors made her feel “incredibly insecure.” Aww, Anna! Remember this video of an abandoned dog undergoing an incredible makeover ? Well… we hope you’re in the mood to see many abandoned dogs that have undergone amazing makeovers. The “Top Shelter Dog in America” contest recently concluded, as organizations The Wahl Foundation and GreaterGood.org teamed up to encourage shelters around the country to transform their residents. These facilities were given supplies and asked to submit before-and-after photos, with $5,000 going to the shelter who did the best job making over one of its canines. The goal, according to a manager at Wahl, was to promote adoption of these animals and “change public perceptions about dogs that might just need a little extra grooming and TLC.” And the results, as you can see here, were astounding: Shelter Dog Beauty Contest Photos 1. Man Arrested Of Enslaving His Wife In Chains For 10 Years This story is as crazy as the dude in the photo looks!! A West Virginia man was arrested Thursday for allegedly making his wife his slave, abusing her and holding her hostage for almost a decade. Authorities in Jackson County, W.Va., charged Peter Lizon of Leroy, W.Va., with malicious wounding after a woman staying at a domestic-violence shelter filed a criminal complaint, alleging a woman she met was brutally beaten by her husband. In an interview with investigators, the woman said she met Lizon’s wife, Stephanie, 43, while staying at the Family Crisis Intervention Center in Parkersburg, W.Va., and described her as “gaunt and filthy.” According to the criminal complaint, Stephanie told the woman that she recently escaped from her husband, who had kept her chained up with metal padlocks for about 10 years, which tore into the skin on her hands and ankles, leaving noticeable scar tissue. Her feet were also “mutilated and swollen” after her husband allegedly smashed her foot with a scoop attachment from a farm tractor. Lizon reportedly called his wife his “slave”, and whenever he entered the room, he made her kneel down before him. The woman also alleged that Stephanie said her husband caused her to have a miscarriage after her husband hit her in the stomach. She said she buried the corpse of a fully developed infant on their farm. She also said she gave birth to another baby while bound by chains, but neither she nor her now-one-year-old child had received any medical attention. During the investigation, police took 45 photos of Stephanie, showing injuries ranging from severe burns to her breasts and back to broken fingers and bruises all over her body. “It’s amazing what one human being can do to another,” Boggs said, “and that should not ever happen or be allowed to happen. And hopefully this will stop and curtail that, at least in this instance.” Lizon’s attorney, Shawn Bayliss, told WSAZ the allegations against Lizon are false, saying the woman who told police everything has a “feeble mind.” Lizon is being held in the South Central Regional Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail. Chief Boggs told msnbc.com malicious wounding is likely to net Lizon between two to 10 years in prison. According to the criminal complaint, Stephanie escaped from Lizon on June 18 while he was returning farm equipment to a rental store in Parkersburg. He left her and their child in the family’s vehicle. While Lizon was inside, she walked away, leaving her child in the car, and hid in a Zumba dance facility. She then found a ride to the shelter and checked in under the name “Serena Sokol.” Staff at the shelter later determined her true identity.
