Race Matters: Arizona State Law Maker Suggests A Public Holiday For White People..”When Caucasians Become The Minority, We Need To Celebrate Our Accomplishments”

And this guy is serious about this: After a Latino state legislator proposed a Latino American Day, lawmaker Cecil Ash stepped up before the legislature to suggest a holiday for white people. Seriously. This is, after all, the land of S.B. 1070, the contentious and draconian immigration enforcement bill that has been mired in legal deadlock since it was signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer (R) in 2010. The legislation, considered the strictest of its kind when it was passed, is to be ruled upon by the Supreme Court later this year. It’s also home to Russell Pearce, the former Republican state senator credited with laying down the framework for the state’s controversial immigration law. And who can forget the ever-graceful Brewer, stateswoman and author, wagging her finger dismissively in the face of President Obama at an airport in Phoenix last month? And the swashbuckling Sheriff Joe Arpaio lives there, too. He proclaimed himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” and now finds himself ensnared in a U.S. Justice Department investigation accusing his department of racially profiling Latinos, basing immigration enforcement on racially charged citizen complaints and punishing Hispanic jail inmates for speaking Spanish. Enter Cecil Ash, a Republican from Mesa, who feels that what Arizona needs now is an official holiday for white folks. The idea apparently came to Ash after state Rep. Richard Miranda proposed a Latino American Day. “I wanted to speak to you all about Latino Americans here in Arizona,” Miranda said on the House floor Monday. After some debate, Ash stepped forward with his grand idea. “I’m supportive of this proposition and I think it’s well deserved,” he said. “I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you’ll have a day for us.” There was laughter on the House floor. On CBS 5 News, reporter Elizabeth Erwin introduced her story on the latest state controversy saying, “You can’t make this stuff up.” No you can’t. On the street, a random woman in a baseball cap said Ash’s proposal made sense. Of course. “Like they have Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans,” she told CBS 5 News, “we need something for whites.” Only in Arizona. Ash, for his part, wasn’t backing down. “I think it was appropriate,” he told the station, referring to his proposed holiday. “It was appropriate for the mood that was in the House and I think that if and when the Caucasian population becomes a minority, they may want to celebrate the accomplishments and the contributions of the Caucasian population the same way.” Thoughts???? *Raw Video* Joshua Jones Accused Cop Killer Acting Crazy In Court: “Does It Look Like I Can Afford An Attorney… Got Dammit!” [Video]

He’s the man investigators say shot and killed Master Public Safety Officer Sandy Rogers. On Monday, Joshua Tremaine Jones stood before Judge Donna Williamson for a bond hearing. “Do you want to be screened for an attorney?” asked Judge Williamson. “I don’t care!” Jones yelled back, grunting several times afterwards. After mouthing profanities to the few reporters in the room, he cursed at the judge, too. “Do you have the income to hire an attorney on your own?” she asked him. “Does it look like it? G** d******!” Jones answered back. It was something Cpt. Troy Elwell with Aiken County Sheriff’s Office had never seen before. “What I saw in court today was a very disturbing individual. He appeared to show no remorse for the actions he had taken. He was disrespectful to the judge and others in the courtroom while he was there,” Elwell said. Elwell says it’s essentially a slap in the face to an already wounded community. “It’s a crime that can’t be undone. It’s a terrible incident. And again, he just showed that much more disrespect for everybody involved in it today,” he said. Joshua’s father, James, was also there and acknowledged the public would view his son as a “monster”. He described his very son’s behavior as the work of Satan. “It’s got to be the work of Satan. It’s a spirit world that is way beyond us,” he said. James Jones said his son may possibly plead insanity. He says his son has a condition they’ve sought help to combat. Jones says Joshua was being treated at Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services before he was released to his care last fall. But the behavior today didn’t sway Elwell’s opinion. “I don’t think I could get any stronger feelings toward him, no matter how he acts. What happened in the courtroom today really doesn’t have any effect on my feeling toward the individual,” Elwell said. Jones’ bond for the weapons charge was set at $10,000. A circuit court will have to decide the bond for the murder charge. In the rare case they do set his bond for murder, he’ll still be on hold for possible charges in Richmond County. His father says the behavior may be because he’s off of his medications, but he wasn’t entirely sure about that. Jones has had a troubled past. He pleaded guilty in 2009 to weapons charges and served 108 days in the Aiken County Detention Center. Just last year, he was charged with giving false information and carrying a concealed weapon. His father says he shot himself in the head last year and said son stabbed him 10 years ago. Jones was 16 years old at the time. Turn the page to see the spectacle in court.

Jesus Take The Wheel: Man Who Murked His Baby Mama, Her Roommate, And A Baby Caught In Florida After Victim Posted Clues On Facebook

This story is truly, truly sad: Just minutes before she, her roommate and a 6-month-baby were savagely killed, did Octavia Barnett name their killer in a Facebook message? The Broward Sheriff’s Office thinks so, and now Lineten Belizaire, 20, the father of Barnett’s baby boy, is sitting in jail facing three counts of first-degree murder. “It actually pointed to the suspect,” Sheriff Al Lamberti said of the Facebook post. “It was the best lead.” On Jan. 15, Barnett, 21, Natasha Plummer, 25, and Plummer’s 6-month-old son Carlton Stringer Jr. were found with gunshot wounds. Carlton Stringer Sr. had gone to check on the women in the Lauderdale Lakes apartment, and found their bodies. But left unharmed was Barnett’s 11-month-old son, Ladainian Belizaire. Lineten Belizaire had spared his own child, police say. The crime scene, Lamberti said, was so gruesome “even the most veteran detective would have a tough time dealing.’’ A neighbor who lived below the women at the Somerset Condominiums, 2750 Somerset Dr. in Lauderdale Lakes, said she heard gunshots early that Sunday morning and later discovered blood dripping through the ceiling. But it was the Facebook post that lead detectives to Belizaire. “He was at the door at that time,” said Sgt. Dave Ellwood. At 1:31 a.m. Jan. 15, Barnett wrote about “opening the door’’ and then “your daddy came back from out of town from 4monthes [sic] ago better late then [sic] never,’’ according to The Sun-Sentinel. Barnett’s Facebook friends told homicide detectives about the clue. Wow. No words. Why would this man do this to the mother of his child, her roommate and her roommate’s baby??? Too sickening. Heather Locklear Taken To Hospital After 911 Call

The actress is taken to a hospital after an emergency phone call is placed from her home. By Jason Kaufman Heather Locklear Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic Heather Locklear was rushed to a California hospital on Thursday with what law officials are labeling “a medical emergency.” TMZ reports that the emergency was a dangerous mix of prescription medication and alcohol. She was taken by ambulance from her home after a call was placed to 911. “Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms. Locklear’s residence,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Aranda told People later Thursday. “Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms. Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention.” This is the second medical scare for the 50-year-old actress within the past 13 months. In December of 2010, Locklear landed in the hospital for a brief stay for a bacterial infection. 2011 was not without bumps for the actress either after a split with longtime beau Jack Wagner, once her co-star on “Melrose.” The couple had been engaged for only three months. Locklear had appeared in public as recently as Tuesday night at a Lakers game, reports TMZ. Locklear had returned to television in 2009 to revive her role as Amanda Woodward on a reboot of “Melrose Place.” Locklear had proved dependable for weekly watercooler discussion during the series’ original run in the mid-’90s.

B.o.B, Andre 3000 ‘Play The Guitar’ On New Single

Track samples classic Bob Marley and T.I.’s verse on Drake’s ‘Fancy.’ By Rob Markman B.o.B Photo: Getty Images Since B.o.B ‘s early mixtape days, the Atlanta hitmaker drew comparisons to another ATLien. With his out-of-this-world production and rap style, Bobby Ray was at times considered a new age Andre 3000 , and on the axe-wielding Bob’s latest single, “Play the Guitar,” fans finally get to hear the two together. Beginning with a bluesy guitar riff and samples based on Bob Marley’s 1973 classic “I Shot the Sheriff” and T.I.’s verse on Drake’s “Fancy,” the Salaam Remi-produced track finds B.o.B and Three Stacks flexing their rap muscles. The song, which is the next single off of Bobby Ray’s upcoming Strange Clouds LP, was released Tuesday (December 27) on iTunes. The song’s hook is built around scratched-in T.I. vocals. “B.o.B plays the guitar” is brought in and out to set up Bob’s opening verse. “Well it’s B.o.B, flyer than a stewardess/ Fresh to death like I’m dressed for a eulogy,” he raps for starters. The “Nothing on You” MC then continues to showcase his tightly packed rap flow, reminding fans of his lyrical prowess. Rhyming alongside the highly regarded OutKast great had to provide some sort of inspiration for the youngster, and 3000 didn’t disappoint. At the top of his verse, Dre begins spitting about standing atop a Church’s Chicken restaurant playing a guitar, while B.o.B stands on the roof of an adjacent Dunkin’ Donuts. Yes, it is a strange way to set off a rap verse, but it’s fitting for an MC who prides himself on individuality. Andre continues his free-wheeling rhyme, spitting about everything from the advice his grandmother has given him to an Internet rumor that he plays the violin. In the end, Three Stacks leaves something for the next generation of musicians, spitting, “I encourage any child to pick up some instrument.” Just like B.o.B. What do you think of B.o.B and Andre 3000’s “Play the Guitar”? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists B.o.B Andre 3000
