Joy Behar is on her way out . And Sherri Shepherd has an idea of who she wants to be on the way in. “Joy’s been there for a while and she’s ready to go, so I’m supportive and I’ll miss her,” Shepherd told Us Weekly this week about The View shake-up, adding: “But what do I want? A young Latina voice is very underrepresented, so I would love to see a young Latina sitting at the table.” And the comedian just happens to have someone in mind. “Adrienne Bailon would be so great,” she said of the 29-year-old singer/actress. “She’s awesome and I’m a Cheetah Girls fan. “I would love her. Everyone tells me there’s too few options out there, like before when everyone said we can’t find a black person to fill the seat. Yes we can! We just have to look.” Behar has showed a bit of support for NeNe Leakes as her replacement, while Brooke Shields is also a strong possibility.
We all know somebody who really is scared of Haunted Houses. Hate her or love her, Sherri ‘s never been afraid to let folks know she’s a scaredy cat! If you had people grabbing at you in a dark, tight-azz hallway you’d probably scream too. Images via youtube
Adam Carolla, a comedian best known for The Man Show and whose career has sunk to a point where he appeared this year on Celebrity Apprentice , is in serious hot water for comments made to The New York Post . Simply put, Carolla told the newspaper that women are not funny. “They make you hire a certain number of chicks, and they’re always the least funny on the writing staff,” Carolla said of Hollywood. ‘The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I’m just gonna tell her, ‘Be a staff writer for a sitcom. Because they’ll have to hire you, they can’t really fire you, and you don’t have to produce that much. It’ll be awesome.'” Was Carolla worried about backlash when he made this statement? No, he added. “When you’re picking a basketball team, you’ll take the brother over the guy with the yarmulke. Why? Because you’re playing the odds. When it comes to comedy, of course there’s Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin – super-funny chicks. But if you’re playing the odds? No. “If Joy Behar or Sherri Shepherd was a dude, they’d be off TV. They’re not funny enough for dudes. What if Roseanne Barr was a dude? Think we’d know who she was? Honestly.” Of course, the backlash came instantly… and humorously, largely from female comedians. To wit, via Twitter: Lena Dunham : “Wait, Adam Carolla, is he the one who did the voice of the parrot in Aladdin??? He makes me giggle.” Jenny Johnson : “The biggest impact this whole Adam Carolla scandal has had is discovering 95% of people have no idea how to spell ‘Carolla.” Danielle Corsetto : “In an ironic twist, ‘women aren’t funny’ ranked number one funniest thing Adam Carolla has ever said.” Molly McAleer : “I don’t take Adam Carolla saying women aren’t funny seriously. He once told a caller on Loveline to eat a used tampon, y’know?” Which gender do YOU think is funnier?
Sherri Shepherd. You go, girl! The View co-host has taken action against a total loon on Twitter, actually filing a police report over an exchange that featured some maniac threatening to rape the actress. The Tweet took place last night, with @DaCloneKiller writing to Shepherd: “Somebody should drag u in a back alley and rape you.” Shepherd re-Tweeted and added: “THIS IS A THREAT & I’M PISSED… You think I should be raped in a back alley? Let’s see if the police agree w you & I took a pic of your tweet. I am going 2 file a police report 4U threatening me… And so help me God, when I find out where U live, charges will follow.” Shepherd proceeded to stand by her word, posting again last night: “Just returned from filing a police report for this online harassment nonsense. I will be pursuing this legally… This type of bullying is one of the reasons children are killing themselves b/c there’s no consequences for the bully(s).” In a word: AMEN, Sherri Shepherd! Between death threats made against Selena Gomez , and anyone who dares criticize Chris Brown , it’s refreshing to see a celebrity take a stand against complete idiots online. [Photo: WENN.com]
Unlike the ousters of Jack Wagner and Sherri Shepherd , the fourth elimination on Dancing With the Stars was not a decision that will leave heads scratched. Just as things looked up last week for Karina Smirnoff and partner Gavin DeGraw, they once again sunk to the bottom Monday night after a 19-point samba. The second lowest DWTS scores went to Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Melissa Gilbert, with 21, with Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus posting just 22. Which of these tandems comprised the dreaded bottom two? Melissa and Maksim and Gladys and Tristan were among the first to be declared safe. Gavin and Karina faced off with Jaleel White and Kym Johnson. Dancing for survival, the judges made their final call based purely on the quality of the performances as both couples did the cha cha side by side. And that call was a fairly easy one. Their decision was unanimous: the judges saved Jaleel and Kym, bringing DeGraw’s run on DWTS to a close. “It’s amazing just being part of the show,” an upbeat Gavin said. “Knowing Karina Smirnoff, of course, having a great mentor. And getting to reach out and know all these amazing people who are a part of this show.” Jaleel and Kym will be back next week to compete in the top eight. You tell us: With Gavin out, who will win Dancing With the Stars?
The 14th season of Dancing With the Stars, as evenly-matched as it is entertaining thus far, rolled into its fifth week Monday with the top nine going ALL out. A lot of strong performances from a group of engaging characters capable of some high quality dancing. for sure. They always leave you wanting more! Sadly, someone must leave each week. The 11 remaining contestants on Dancing With the Stars’ 14th season brought it again tonight in the third week of competition. Who stood out on the parquet? One week ago, we bid farewell to Martina Navratilova , who finished at the bottom of the standings in each of the first two weeks. Not much controversy there. Tonight, you knew the scores were likely to tighten up a bit. Coming into the third night of performances, the leaders (Jaleel White, William Levy and Katherine Jenkins) looked to bolster their frontrunner status. Were they able to do that, or were there any big shakeups? We’ll be back in the morning with videos of this week’s routines, but for now, sound off in the comments and with your votes below!
