Jon Hamm Evaluates His Comedy Star Potential

Not a week after his Mad Men colleague John Slattery told Movieline he envied Jon Hamm’s forays into film farce, Hamm himself is weighing in on his potential for a career in comedies. He was hilarious in Bridesmaids , and hilariously hard-boiled (thanks to that “gritty” dialogue) in The Town — so why he shouldn’t he ready for marquee funny roles?

Jeremy Renner Wasn’t Really Anyone’s First Pick For New Bourne Series

In a fascinating peek into the sausage factory that is the new Jason Bourne-less Bourne series, Vulture is reporting that Jeremy Renner’s recent casting as the new heir apparent to Jason Bourne came about not because of some great desire for Renner but as part of a grand compromise between director Tony Gilroy and Universal. It seems like Renner wasn’t so much the bowl of porridge that was just right, but the bowl of porridge that was least objectionable.

Where the men are men and the women are women. Where the wild things are. Where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain. If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.

I got called into Steven [Spielberg]’s office and he pitched a little bit to me and it sounds crazy, it sounds really cool.” Bermuda Triangle , anyone? [ /Film ]

Megan Fox’s Transformers 3 Pressure Point

Megan Fox may not be saying much about her Transformers 3 departure, but Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is. “It’s one of those things that built to a pressure point,” the producer told Coming Soon at this weekend’s Salt junket. “I think she knew and we did, I think we all tried really hard to make it work together, it just wasn’t working.” Fortunately, executing a character name search-and-replace for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s new role is not that hard: “I wouldn’t say a tremendous number, but yeah, absolutely there were some [script] changes.” [ Coming Soon ]

9 Heat Wave Movies to Help Survive the Hellish Summer of 2010

They say the heat wave that crushed much of the East Coast all week has abated, but 10 out of 10 respondents to a Movieline poll of melting men on the street agree: 90 degrees with 100 percent humidity still sucks . But at least we’re all in this together — and with the movies, which are rich with tales of city folks sweating out the worst seasonal crap summer has to offer. And I don’t mean The Last Airbender . Read on and recount nine of the best.
