Ronald Poppo Photo Released; "Miami Zombie" Attack Victim Recovering From Gruesome Injuries

Ronald Poppo is a survivor. The homeless man whose face chewed off by naked ” Miami zombie ” assailant Rudy Eugene, is awake and alert and doing well, according to doctors. That said, he will require more surgery, and his face is still in such a state that we cannot even post the newly-released, graphic picture of it here. Jackson Memorial Hospital released pictures of him with his permission Tuesday. Follow this link to see a photo of Ronald Poppo’s face after the attack. Poppo’s horrific injuries, roughly three weeks after the shocking assault on Miami’s MacArthur causeway, show one of his eyes is covered by gauze. The other, lost to the attack, is covered by skin. His nose is missing, and his forehead is a mass of scabs. The lower half of Poppo’s face appears intact. Poppo, who has been homeless in Miami since the ’70s, is covered by Medicare and Medicaid. A fund set up to assist Poppo has also raised $15,000. Doctors said the “extremely charming” 65-year-old man remembers the attack, understands that he is in hospital, and is aware of media coverage . The out-of-control Rudy Eugene , 31, was believed to have been on bath salts and was killed by police before he could eat Poppo alive last month. The medical team’s primary goal to date has been to clean and close Poppo’s wounds, but the patient’s psychological response is a concern as well. “In addition to [surgery], we have mental health professionals to help him with the coping; he’s doing remarkably well,” a hospital spokesperson said. The AP says Poppo, who loves Italian food and can’t wait to go swimming, prefers quiet and keeps his TV off … except during Miami Heat games.

‘Walking Dead’ Creator Explains Shocking Death

‘It would be inaccurate to portray this show as anything other than completely dangerous,’ Robert Kirkman tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler Jeffrey DeMunn in “The Walking Dead” Photo: AMC Warning: Major spoilers for the latest episode of “The Walking Dead” lurk ahead! Death is par for the course on “The Walking Dead,” but that knowledge wasn’t enough to prepare for the shocking death of fan-favorite character Dale. Veteran actor Jeffrey DeMunn made his final appearance on the AMC survival horror series on Sunday night, and as is custom for the show, his exit was a gruesome one: While strolling along the quiet fields of Hershel’s farm, Dale was mortally injured by a roaming zombie and, ultimately, euthanized by a bullet to the head from antihero Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). “Dale’s death comes at a time where he’s very much needed,” executive producer Robert Kirkman told MTV News about the shocking decision to kill DeMunn’s character. “[Rick and the gang] are trying to make this decision on what to do with Randall. The farm is becoming increasingly dangerous. There is still tension between Rick and Shane, despite the fact that it appears that they’ve put much of their differences behind them for now. They need that moral compass [in Dale], and it’s been taken away.” Losing Dale will have massive repercussions on the rest of the “Walking Dead” cast, Kirkman promised. Chief among those feeling the sting will be Carl (Chandler Riggs), who was partially responsible for Dale’s death. Earlier in the episode, Carl wandered into the forest by himself and taunted a seemingly immobile zombie — the very same zombie that ripped Dale’s guts out. “It’s interesting to see Carl doing kid stuff: going out on his own, trying to prove he’s strong enough to kill a zombie, proving that he’s deserving of carrying a gun,” Kirkman said. “He instigated this whole situation. We’re going to deal with his emotions and what comes from him causing Dale’s death to a certain extent. That’s definitely one of the big repercussions where Dale’s death affects these characters.” Once again, Dale’s death proves that the “Walking Dead” TV series is more than willing to deviate from the “Walking Dead” comic books. In Kirkman’s comics, Dale survives dozens and dozens of issues before finally succumbing to a fatal zombie bite. Seeing the popular character leave the show so soon is bound to be a shock for longtime fans then — but that wasn’t the only kind of shock value Kirkman and company were aiming for. “One of the things we wanted to do is show how dangerous these zombies actually are,” Kirkman said. “We were sitting around the writers’ room early on in the planning of season two, and we thought, you know, there aren’t a lot of zombies actually succeeding in what they’re trying to do. They eat people here and there, but we’ve never really had a zombie actually take down one of our main characters — at least not for a while, not since the first season. We wanted to remind people how dangerous these creatures are. It also threw a wrench in everyone’s plans to take Dale off the table, so those two ideas merged into one until we eventually came to offing this character.” Fans aren’t just losing Dale, of course: they’re also losing DeMunn, one of the finest actors “The Walking Dead” has to offer. Taking an actor of such high caliber off the playing field is not something the “Dead” team treated lightly, Kirkman said. “It’s a tremendous loss,” he admitted. “It’s difficult. It’s difficult for the cast, because they’ve become pretty much a family hanging out in rural Georgia. They keep each other company. It’s definitely a big deal [losing Jeffrey]; it sucks for everybody. Jeffrey in particular brought a serious sense of gravitas to the role and definitely legitimized this show by gracing us with his presence. We were lucky to get an actor of his caliber. He added a lot to the show, and his presence is definitely going to be missed. “But,” Kirkman added, “this is ‘The Walking Dead.’ It would be inaccurate to portray this show as anything other than completely dangerous, and in order to do that, you have to lose characters from time to time.” Were you shocked by Dale’s death? Jersey Shore Recap: A Leopard Never Sheds its Stripes

This week on the Jersey Shore, the “family” continued to experience all kinds of ups and downs. Vinny fell for a lesbian, Pauly acquired a new stalker, JWoww fought with Roger, Snooki acted ridiculously and no one could figure Mike out. Pretty standard stuff, really. We are happy/sad to report that no one threw down! How did it all play out in Seaside Heights? Let’s recap Jersey Shore , THG style! The Situation gets the dirt from his brother on his recent date with Deena’s sister. Yep, that happened. As if this crew weren’t incestuous enough. Minus 12 . “The real Mike is back and I love watching all the $h!t he does.” – Pauly, after Mike decides he’s going all out to start some $h!t again. Game on, brah. Plus 5 . Mike’s plan to CRUSH Snooki by having his boy The Unit tell Jionni all about Sitch and Snook’s sexy times failed because Unit was in Miami. Too bad? Plus 11 . Snooki tries to hang out with The Situation. Always a dangerous move. Minus 3 . Vinny juggles two girls at the bar. Good to be back, right? Plus 11 . Deena keeps Vinny’s other girl occupied. Wing-meatball! Plus 8 . The more “hotass” of the two is Nicki, who is a lesbian. Vinny tried to get it in anyway, and Plus 7 for the effort, but Minus 14 for delusions. She bounced. JWoww ducks out early, hella annoyed that Roger was dodging her calls even though he was down the street on the boardwalk. We smell drama. Minus 9 . The next morning, Jenni finally got ahold of Roger, who said he didn’t have a phone and that’s why he took the day off. Sketchy, and she knows it. Minus 1 . Snooki attempts to master the art of sitting in a hammock. Fail. Minus 5 . Snooki cleans the Smush Room bed. Plus 15 for even attempting that, but Minus 40 for the imagery of some of the things that have probably gone on there. Snooki finds a hiding spot on the deck. Very stealthy. Plus 27 . Snooki complains about sunlight and mused that it’s always dark in Arkansas. Minus 10 because that’s not even true, and Minus 30 because she meant Alaska. Probably. Vinny’ smush with the backup girl was average. Good to know. Minus 5 . “Released some demons, you know.”- Vinny. Gross. Minus 13 . Deena and Snooki decide to skip out on their shift at the Shore Store. BOLD move, since it’s not actually a real job and the store only “hires” them for PR. Minus 10 . “Danny’s such an annoying.” – Deena. At least he’s not trying to “do sex.” Plus 8 . Pauly D has an encounter with his new stalker. Bosnian Grilled Cheese set the bar pretty high, so this girl had better be aware of what an elite club she’s in. Plus 4 . Are stalkers required to wear the same thing every day? Plus 3 . Roger told Jen he’d be an hour late for their date, which they canceled, as JWoww ripped him a new one without him having a chance to respond. Minus 8 . No Sammi and Ronnie drama to speak of, at least! Plus 22 . In a turn of events, Sitch went out for a drink with Deena and Snooki. Who he wants to ruin … about half the time. Dude’s moods are hard to predict, but Plus 5 . “A leopard never sheds its stripes.” – Deena, on Sitch. SO true. Plus 20 . The Situation teases Deena about becoming brother-and sister-in-law, but then gets nervous when Deena’s sister calls the house. Plus 9 for the expression above. Imagine Mike being your brother-in-law, though. Exactly. Minus 5 . Danny tells Deena and Snooki that if they get fired, they’ll have to leave the Seaside house. Minus 8 because there is absolutely no way MTV’s letting that happen. Pauly D and Vinny run into JWoww’s boyfriend at the gym. Dude’s not small. Plus 2 . He’s also not backing down after the way she acted, he tells them. Plus 3 . JWoww decides to swallow her pride and apologize to Roger. Plus 30 . The call (and episode) ended with an ultimatum: “So what’s it going to be?” Dun dun dun! EPISODE TOTAL: +17! SEASON TOTAL: +174! Jersey Shore …
