Britney Spears’ Choreographer Says ‘Hold It Against Me’ Video ‘Kills’

Brian Friedman says rehearsals for the clip have been ‘incredible.’ By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” Photo: Jive Britney Spears is hard at work on her “Hold It Against Me” video. The pop diva is currently in rehearsals for the clip, set to shoot this week. And choreographer Brian Friedman couldn’t be more excited to share with fans all the hard work he and Brit are putting into the video’s smooth moves. “Just finished with @britneyspears & the dancers & I’m PUMPED!” he tweeted on Tuesday. “Day 1 was INCREDIBLE! #HIAMkills!” He previously tweeted, “Nothing beats waking up @ 7am for rehearsal! LOL not so much! Warm up dancers. … It’s Full Out! … Thrilled to get back in the studio tomorrow and Lock in ‘HIAM.’ … It’s getting closer peeps!” Friedman has said that Spears is taking some risks in this video. “This is a dance video. Rehearsals can get pretty rough,” he explained. “[It’s] the hardest dance track that she’s ever put out. … It’s infectious. The beat gets inside of you, and just when you think you know it, it takes a turn. The song, in particular, is one of my favorite songs I’ve heard off the bat. I’m really excited about choreographing it.” The clip will be directed by music-video vet Jonas

Weezer’s ‘Memories’ Video Promises Skateboarding, Silly Hats

Clip featuring the cast of ‘Jackass 3-D’ premieres today at 5 p.m. By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Matt Elias Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images The lyrics to Weezer’s new single, “Memories” (from their forthcoming eighth album, Hurley ) paint a picture of the band back when they first began playing clubs and trying to scrape together a living on the backs of the songs from their landmark self-titled debut. “I had been married for a few months and had been in school for the semester before that, and basically I had been away from the band and the rock world for a while,” frontman Rivers Cuomo told MTV News. “I was really missing it, and just sitting there alone in my room missing the fans and missing my band, so ‘Memories’ is about getting back in there.” So when they decided to shoot the video — which premieres Thursday (September 9) on MTV, right after an all-new episode of “Jersey Shore” — it’s no wonder the group decided to call some old friends. Those friends? Johnny Knoxville, Wee Man, Chris Pontius, Steve-O and the rest of the crew from “Jackass” (who also happen to have a brand-new movie, “Jackass 3-D,” hitting theaters in October). They got together for what “Jackass” director Jeff Tremaine calls “an old-school skate jam,” featuring a cavalcade of extreme tricks in and around an empty pool. Like most Weezer videos, “Memories” relied on unpredictability. “We’re kind of making it up as we go along, to be honest,” Knoxville told MTV News when we visited the set last month. “We brought funny hats and some Super 8 cameras. I think that’s the video. Are we over-selling it?” With the low-fi cameras and the rapid-fire editing, the “Memories” video closely resembles a DIY skate video from the ’80s — something the guys went for on purpose, starting with the location. “It really is a legendary spot,” Tremaine said. “It made sense once we decided what we were doing. It’s from ‘The Search for Animal Chin,’ a legendary skate video from back in the ’80s — ’87 or ’86 — that the Bones Brigade made. That was Tony Hawk’s team. They filmed in here, and it became an old, classic skate spot.” Don’t miss the premiere of Weezer’s “Memories” video on MTV, Thursday (September 9) at 5 p.m.

M. Night Shyamalan Explains Origins Of ‘Devil’

‘Night Chronicles’ trilogy is a world where the ‘worst things happen,’ director tells MTV News. By Josh Horowitz M. Night Shyamalan Photo: MTV News M. Night Shyamalan is not letting the rather mixed reviews for “The Last Airbender” darken his easygoing spirit or dampen his creative verve. Late last month, as “Airbender” continued to rake in dough overseas, Shyamalan sat down with MTV News to chat about his upcoming “Devil,” which follows five strangers trapped in an elevator — one of whom just might be the Prince of Darkness. The film is the first in his planned “Night Chronicles” trilogy, a series based on his original ideas and helmed by other directors, and Shyamalan seems to relish the idea of getting out of the director’s chair and into the role of producer, a job he likened to being the goalie on a hockey team.

All the chapters break down my beliefs and what steps and methods I took to get in this position. I just go and break [them] down into detail. I just want all my fans to read it when my album drops and have a good read and feel where I’m coming from.” SB is currently enjoying the success of “Pretty Boy Swag,” which rests at #12 on Billboard ‘s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The rapper is in Los Angeles this week to shoot the video for one of his next singles, “Blowing Kisses.” In July, Soulja Boy told MTV News that “Speakers Going Hammer” would be his next single. “Basically, it’s all about the sound of the music,” he said about the Boi-1da-produced track. “I got bars on this one. First verse, second verse, all bars, another anthem, as far as the hook. The hook is catchy. The video is gonna match the song perfect. And it’s another hit.” Related Artists Soulja Boy Tell’em

Erykah Badu Pleads Not Guilty To ‘Window Seat’ Charge

Singer was cited for disorderly conduct after stripping down in public during the video shoot. By Kelley L. Carter Erykah Badu in her video for “Window Seat” Photo: Universal Motown Erykah Badu entered a not-guilty plea Wednesday for stripping down in public for her much-talked-about “Window Seat” video . In March, the 39-year-old soul singer went sans clothing in Dallas’ busy Dealey Plaza during the video shoot; she later was charged with disorderly conduct in relation to the music video. “I thought it was a move for women and men and children who feel they weren’t good enough,” Erykah Badu told MTV News on April 8 about the controversial clip. ” ‘This is just me. I’m good enough.’ I felt it was important enough to do. More pros than cons.” In Badu’s video, she sheds her clothes while walking through downtown Dallas, and almost as soon as she is totally nude, she is shot in the head, falling near the same grassy knoll near where President Kennedy was shot in 1963. Instead of blood, animated words that spell out “groupthink” leak from her head on the sidewalk. The singer has said that she picked to go nude in Dealey Plaza because it’s one of the most popular locales in the city. Badu didn’t file for an official permit to shoot the video. The directors of the video, Chike and Coodie, told MTV News that they were well aware of potential attention from law-enforcement officials. They also said Badu was fully prepared for the consequences . “We had bail money and everything,” Coodie said. “I think she really wanted to get arrested and even make a bigger message.” Are you surprised that Badu pleaded not guilty?
