Maybe if he had talked to someone about his feelings, this tragedy could have been avoided. Fort Hood Shooter Devastated By Mother’s Death It’s a shame… even in the military they have crazies. According to NY Daily News: Authorities believe the Fort Hood gunman was involved in a verbal beef with another soldier before he opened fire with a .45-caliber pistol, killing three and wounding 16. There is a “strong possibility” that mentally unstable Army soldier Ivan Lopez argued with one or more soldiers prior to the Wednesday afternoon bloodshed, Lt. Gen. Mark Milley said at a Thursday news conference. Lopez ended the rampage by taking his own life after a military police officer squeezed off a shot at him, according to Milley. A Lopez pal in their native Puerto Rico told the newspaper El Nuevo Dia that the shooter was feuding with another soldier on the Texas military outpost. SMH. “It seems he had an argument with someone back at base,” the friend told the newspaper. “Seems that he had been robbed or something.” Lopez reportedly bought his weapon on March 1 at the Guns Galore store in Killeen, Texas According to El Nuevo Dio, Lopez was devastated by his mother’s death last year and furious at the Army for its initial refusal to let him attend her funeral. “I don’t have the details on that right now,” Milley said at the news conference. But he said authorities had “very strong evidence” of Lopez’s increasingly unstable mental condition in the weeks leading up to the triple homicide. Poor mental health is the common thread in majority of these violent mass shootings. We’ve got to start addressing these issues much earlier before we endure more violence like this. Facebook
