‘Jersey Shore’ Recap: Snooki And The Gang Come Home

Newcomer Deena is already stirring things up with the roomies. By Jim Cantiello Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D and Vinny on “Jersey Shore” on Thursday Photo: MTV On Thursday night, the “Jersey Shore” crew returned to the land that made them famous: Seaside Heights. Yes, after 13 episodes in Miami, they’re finally back in the land of unironic jean shorts, novelty tees and happy-go-lucky steroid users. (And that’s just the children who visit Seaside.) But there’s a new girl in town: Snooki’s friend (and instant superstar) Deena . She won me over as soon as she described herself as a “blast in a glass.” Her ingredients: two parts Snooki, one part Madam the puppet and a splash of Milania Giudice from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Within five hours of arriving at the house, she managed to drunkenly show the Situation her lady parts and call one of her roommates the C-word. So, really, how can you not relate to her? These “Jersey” episodes were taped just a little while after the cast hit up Miami, so the Florida wounds are still fresh. Thank the pop-culture gods for that, because otherwise we wouldn’t have had the guttural “ugh” that JWoww burped out upon seeing her mortal enemy Sammi in the Jersey house for the first time. Best moment ever. Sammi and Ronnie are still dating, having survived the tumultuous Miami trip that found Sammi lying in a bed and whining for two months straight while Ronnie put his face in strangers’ cleavage any chance he got. Back in Jersey, they’re the first ones to arrive. Because they’re vile, hateful people, they take the upstairs room that has three beds, meaning one of the (single) roomies will have to be the third wheel to their dysfunction at nighttime. Or, really, any time of the day, because all Sammi ever does is lay in bed. (The Situation ends up being the low man on the totem pole. Hope you like watching a girl ugly-cry and pet her hair extensions, buddy!) Snooki’s back and bronzer than ever. (You know the law of sequels. The first sequel is always bloodier than the original. And this one has more spray tan.) This time, Snooki’s determined to hook up with Vinny again, even though she described their first failed attempt at coitus as putting “a watermelon in a pinhole.” You might say that sounds horrific, but Snooki obviously has a thing for gigantic … personalities. While Snooki tried to mack on Vinny, Deena slapped a flower on her head and set her sights on the Situation. As any “Jersey Shore” viewer could tell you, Sitch would normally jump at the chance to get with a girl who is so drunk she can barely stand, but shockingly, he turned her down. (You know the old saying, “Why buy the milk when the cow willingly shows you her vagina?”) Sammi laughed at Deena’s sloppiness, Deena responded by calling her the C-word, and Ronnie started yelling at Deena because he realized he hadn’t done anything this episode and wanted some screen time. Eventually, Sammi joined the fight, the C-word was thrown around some more, and the episode ended with JWoww walking up to Sammi and swinging. Bam. So, in other words, same sh–, different day. I’m so glad “Jersey Shore” is back. What were your favorite moments? What are your thoughts on Deena joining the show? Are you Team Sammi or Team Everyone Else? On a scale of 100 to 100, how awesome was DJ Pauly D’s mom? (More of her please, producers!) And finally, why aren’t you following me on Twitter already? The name’s @jambajim. Please wear it out. Don’t miss “Jersey Shore,” airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos Jersey Shore (Season 2) | Ep. 14 | Deleted Scene It’s The Return Of ‘Jersey Shore’! ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Vinny Reveals His Onscreen-Hookup Secret

In new season, which kicks off tonight, Vinny tells MTV News he had to ‘drop that whole self-consciousness about being on camera.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Vinny Photo: MTV News By his own admission, “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino came into his own during the show’s Miami-based episodes, trading his initial tentativeness in front of the camera on the Seaside Heights boardwalk for a fist-pumping swagger that netted him oodles of phone numbers and hookups in South Beach clubs. That’s not to say he’s always comfortable with a camera catching his every move. As the reality star confessed when he stopped by the MTV Newsroom, there’s no getting around the awkwardness of gettin’ it in while the cameras are rolling. “How do you do more than hook up with a girl when there’s a camera in the ceiling watching you?” he laughed. Somehow, though, he’s found a way. The key, Vinny explained, is to “drop that whole self-consciousness that you have about being on camera.” Helping matters is that he’s been with the same “Jersey Shore” production crew from the beginning, and while he’s not allowed to speak with the camera guys, they’ve created a sort of wordless bond with one another. “You kind of become family with the camera crew without saying anything,” he said. “If a camera guy is filming me and I’m macking on a girl, that’s like my boy watching me.” While Vinny has gotten to a place where he can play carefree kissy-face with a club-going gal, it’s the object of his affection who’s not always cool, calm and collected with a 10-camera crew surrounding her. But ever the gentleman, Vinny does his best to put his lady friends at ease. “The hardest part is the girl — she’s not used to it,” he said. “So me being a nice guy, I kind of feel for her at times. I just try to do whatever I can to make her feel comfortable in the moment.” The new season of “Jersey Shore” premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Situation Teases ‘Hilarious’ New Season

‘[The new season] was a year that I was very into enjoying myself,’ Sitch says about episodes kicking off Thursday. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Tim Kash “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Photo: MTV Maybe it was when he was sucking face with two random gals in a nightclub bathroom. Maybe it was the time he housed an egg sandwich while watching his buddy get laid. Whenever it happened, the Situation decided at some point that season two of “Jersey Shore” got just a bit out-of-hand. “In Miami, it was a little wild,” the reality star recently told MTV News. According to Sitch, his approach to the new season of the hit show, which premieres this Thursday, focused less on such sexual shenanigans and more on delivering straightforward laughs. “[W]e’re back in New Jersey and you had that sense of being comfortable, because we’re back home,” he said. “I really think this one is hilarious.” The changeup in style for the latest season represents an evolution of sorts for the Situation, who has branched out from the MTV show to a turn on “Dancing With the Stars” and multiple endorsement deals. As he explained it, “Season one was definitely wild. All the rules were thrown out the window because it was season one and it was the first time we were doing things. Season two, we were a little more experienced, we knew what to expect, but we were happy to be in Miami. At the same, I’ll be honest with you, we kind of went a little crazy.” The new season, in contrast, is all about goofing off and having fun — and getting to know new “Shore” face Deena Nicole Cortese. “For me, [the new season] was a year that I was very into enjoying myself,” Sitch explained. “There are many different little funny things. I really think it’s hilarious. As well as the new castmate that’s in there. She shakes things up.” The new season of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. ‘Jersey Shore’ New Season: Burning Questions We Want Answered

From Deena drama to the duck phone, here are five things we hope to clear up when the show returns on Thursday. By Eric Ditzian The new cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Josh Kessler Previously, on “Jersey Shore” : Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the roomies survived a GTL-filled tear through Miami Beach — motor-boating Jell-O shot girls at night, serving up gelato flavors in the bleary morning — and packed up to head back to Seaside Heights. They brought plenty of baggage with them. When “Jersey Shore” picks up again on Thursday with the premiere of the show’s new season, there will be many lingering questions left over from the reality stars’ time down south. Before this season’s final fist-pump, here are five questions we hope to have answered: Will Sammi and Ronnie Make It Work? The drama between these two lovebirds — by turns crabbily thin-skinned and candidly raw — has provided the show with much of its dramatic energy for two seasons. Sam and Ron ended the second season just as they ended the first: together and in love. But the up-and-down pair is as addicted to relationship conflict as they are to maintaining their tans. No doubt they’ll engage in some (irrational) brawling. Whether they’ll survive a summer of Shore temptation remains to be seen.
