By Christina Garibaldi Deena and Snooki Photo: MTV News Long-distance love isn’t always easy to keep alive — just ask Snooki. While filming the fourth season of “Jersey Shore,” the pint-size guidette introduced us to her long-term boyfriend, Jionni. Every week, viewers have listened in on their countless phone conversations, and after much anticipation, Jionni came for a drama-filled visit to Italy on Thursday night’s episode. “It sucked from being with him six months every single day to not being with him, being in another freakin’ country and, like, not talking to him. It was really hard,” Snooki told MTV News of her overseas love. “It was legit like a long-distance relationship.” Yet, someone who didn’t have trouble keeping her relationship strong was JWoww, whose boyfriend Roger (whom we frequently saw in Seaside during season three ) just wanted her to have a good time in Florence. “It was actually the easiest I ever thought it was going to be,” JWoww said. “My ex made me feel like I never wanted to go film, so I was kind of dreading that, and Roger was like, ‘Dude, I want you to have a blast, go have fun, this is your 20s, you need to go do this. I’m not going to keep you from doing this. I want you to.’ Because he traveled Europe in his 20s, so getting over there, it was so easy.” The long-distance relationship with Roger may have been easy for JWoww, but the hard part was not being able to see her dogs. “The only thing I really missed, besides him, were my dogs,” JWoww said. “Because I can’t be like, ‘Hey, what’s going,’ on the phone with my dogs, but it was a lot easier than I expected.” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! Following the big reveal of the Ronnie-vs.-Situation brawl, there’s plenty more drama to come on this season’s ‘Jersey Shore.’ By Eric Ditzian “Jersey Shore” star Ronnie Photo: MTV Now we know the truth: The Situation was felled in Florence, Italy, not by Ronnie’s mighty punch but by an inadvisable decision to head-butt a wall. Yes, Sunday’s (August 28) episode of “Jersey Shore” finally answered the roomie-vs.-roomie-brawl question that had been haunting the cast’s shenanigans in Italy. But just as one reality-show door was fist-pumped close, a whole new one was opened up during the Video Music Awards pre-show, when MTV debuted a sneak-peek trailer of what’s to come for the rest of the season. Oh, let us count what madness there will be! Deena forgetting to slip on her “underwears” before doing the limbo in a club. Ronnie clutching a firework between his teeth. Snooki enjoying some Sapphic pleasure one minute and declaring her affection for “Italian whale sperm” the next. JWoww giving a reality-show costar a “reality check.” There are car crashes and Breathalyzers and the threat of the entire cast getting deported. There are strippers using lotion in a less-than-family-friendly manner and then Snooki using a bottle of wine as a weapon. Speaking of which, Snickers’ boyfriend Jionni threatens to kill Vinny. All of which leads Pauly to give us a new definition of STD: Stop the drama! Sorry, Pauly, but NGH: Not gonna happen. We wouldn’t want it any other way. We like our “Jersey Shore” the way we like our VMAs: pretty freaking nuts. And so does the cast, who did everything they could to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Irene to make it to Los Angeles for the big show. “We had to get out here for the VMAs. MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We even had a private jet chartered for us because we wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Vinny told MTV News on Saturday, adding with a laugh, “Yo, Irene! Bad news for the 30-40 percent of THG readers who see Jersey Shore articles and leave comments to the effect of “GET THIS CRAP OFF THE AIR!!!” Not happening anytime soon. Based on preliminary Nielsen data, the Jersey Shore Season 4 premiere earned monster ratings last night – a 4.6 rating among adults ages 18-49 and a projected 9.7 million viewers overall – shattering last January’s then-record debut. Jersey Shore’s ratings are bigger than Vinny’s … fuhgedaboutit . Unfortunately for the naysayers, the absurd quotes , blowouts, genuineness and “yes, this happened factor” continue to power the show to huge success. Short story? These record ratings may not be the cast’s last. With a season being described as “the most insane yet” by producers, and a couple of surprising developments in the works already, we can’t wait.

Pauly D is close to joining forces with G-Unit, 50 Cent’s label, as 50 desperately wants to sign the Jersey Shore star and has offered a three-album deal. In a sign of the apocalypse – but not one you can really get upset about ’cause c’mon, who doesn’t love Pauly D – the two sides are nearing a contract . The Jersey Shore pimp/DJ met with Fiddy and his people in NYC last week, where they discussed the lucrative record deal and a Pauly D merchandise line. Specifically, Pauly D-brand headphones, obviously. Nothing’s signed yet,but according to sources, 50 wants to hammer out the deal ASAP before Pauly jets off to shoot Jersey Shore Season 4 in Italy . Talks have become so serious, 50 and Pauly have even started to kick around ideas for other artists he and Pauly can collaborate with. Any ideas?

New episode with ‘Black and Yellow’ rapper airs Saturday at 11 a.m. By Alvin Blanco Wiz Khalifa on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV News When Wiz Khalifa (born Cameron Thomaz) was 17 years old, hip-hop stardom was still only a pipe dream. But the kid was serious about his craft, and he displayed it by getting his rap moniker tattooed on his arm on his 17th birthday. “The story behind my name is: I would always hang out with older guys, and I was good at everything I do, so they would be like, ‘He’s a young wiz,’ so that’s where that came from,” the “Black and Yellow” rapper reveals on the next episode of MTV’s “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday at 11 a.m. “And ‘Khalifa’ is Arabic for ‘successor’ and ‘leader,’ and my granddad is Muslim, so he gave me that name; he felt like that’s what I was doing with my music.” Of the now-thoroughly inked-up Wiz’s early tattoo, Benjy Grinberg, CEO of Rostrum Records, said “That pretty much solidified his direction and was a symbol of his commitment to his craft.” It was Rostrum, the Pittsburgh-based label Wiz is still signed to, that released the hip-hop wunderkind’s first official project, Show and Prove . “It was my first street album,” Wiz says. “That album got me out there.” But Wiz didn’t settle for just saying he had a record in stores. “When he was 17, he knew that he couldn’t just make an album and that’s it,” Grinberg says. “You have to do more things, you have to help promote it, you have to help sell it, and he really took to it.” While Wiz currently hawks his music by appearing on the covers of magazines like Rolling Stone , XXL and Complex , and performances like his recent stop at the South by Southwest festival, as well as relentless airplay, back in high school, he was making his moves on a more grassroots level. “It became a little craze around school,” Wiz says of pushing Show and Prove . “I had flyers, and I had little T-shirts that I was wearing. The girls wanted T-shirts, and I used the girls to promote everything. I would bring, like, 25 to school, and I’d probably give five out to some girls.” The savvy marketing quickly paid off — literally. “I sold CDs in the hallways,” Wiz remembers. “I sold them for 10 bucks. I was making, like, a good grand a week. It wasn’t every week that I was making that, though. It was like, when it was hot, I made like a grand a week, for like, a week,” he said, laughing. With his major label debut, Rolling Papers , out Tuesday, Wiz is going to be laughing all the way to the bank. “When I Was 17” airs Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT on MTV. Gondola rides, learning a new language, falling in love: Deena and Vinny tell MTV News their plans for next season and beyond. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian and Ade Mangum Vinny Guadagnino Photo: MTV News The third season of “Jersey Shore” wrapped on Thursday night, but Seaside’s finest are already planning for the next installment of the show, which will take them to Italy. And that means the cast should probably brush up on their pregos and grazies before they land in the home of delicious spaghetti, fine leather goods and the Pope. “Can’t wait! I honestly can’t wait to get there and see the place,” Deena told MTV News this week. “For some reason, I really want to go on a gondola ride. Or I would like if we’re in Rome, I would like to see the love fountain, so I’m thinking I’ll steal a coin … maybe I’ll fall in love.” Meanwhile, her castmate Vinny told us he’d prepare for the next season of the hit reality series the same way he has for all of the past seasons. “Preparing for Italy is pretty much preparing for any of the other seasons, trying to get in shape, trying to spend some time with my family, chill out, the quiet before the storm,” he said. “I’m excited to be thrown right into the water with whatever language skills I have.” But the cast is also busier than ever with other projects and gigs. Pauly D’s ramping up for the debut of his own reality show , and fans can catch him spinning tunes at his DJ residency at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Vinny got a plum role on “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” and revealed he’s got some musical abilities, saying, “I dabble in music and it’s something I do for fun and if it’s good, it’s good.” No word on whether he’ll pursue that any further, but Vinny did add that he’d love to pursue more acting. “My future is very open. I like to do scripted types of things,” he told us. Snooki and JWoww have followed a somewhat similar path: Both are published authors, and both have appeared on wrestling-type programs. Now there’s chatter the two ladies might get their own show, casting them as reality-TV version of “Laverne and Shirley.” The Situation, of course, is already a budding entrepreneur, with a book and fitness DVD in stores and other deals in the pipeline. Earlier this year, the former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant began working on YOBI.tv’s “Random Talent” Web series with British comedian Ben Green. Apparently if a girl BREAKS UP WITH A GUY, she’s still not allowed to talk or text any other guys. Even if said guy cheated on her and is abusive. Minus 10 . These two really need to just neutral it out. JWoww: “Can you guys like, maybe neutral it? Because, like, you hit up a girl in Miami?” They may have to negative it at this point, but good point. Minus 5 . Pauly: “They already neutraled that … I say they start with a zero-zero, because he admitted his wrongs to that. This girl is still never admitting.” Plus 6 . Sammi now insists that she never told Arvin she wanted to hang out with him, even though this contradicts what she told Ronnie earlier. SHADY. Minus 7 . Pauly is suspicious that Sammi has never mentioned Arvin, even though she now says they are good friends. Moreover … what kinda name is Arvin? Plus 3 . The Situation actually gets Arvin on the phone and starts to interrogate him about Sammi. Man, this guy doesn’t know when to butt out … ever. Minus 4 . Ron confronts Sammi: “You’re the biggest liar I ever met in my life.” Eh, maybe so, but what she did was 10 times more innocent than his antics. Plus 8 . Minus 5 , though, Sam. Because who voluntarily dates this clown? TOTAL: -1. SEASON TOTAL: +232.
