Californication Welcomes Rob Lowe

According to a Showtime press release dropped in Movieline’s inbox just moments ago, Rob Lowe will visit Californication next season for at least one episode. The square-jawed star, whom NBC is hoping will increase Parks & Recreation ‘s female viewership, will play “self-possessed, award-winning movie star ‘Eddie Nero,’ a possible contender to play Hank in the film version of his hit novel.” Apparently, David Duchovny’s hormone-addled cable series is the place where middle-aged actors go to raise uneasy parallels to their own sex scandals.

United States of Tara Smackdown: When You Are Carrying Your Landscaper’s Love Child

Patton Oswalt may not be getting much love from NBC these days but at least the comedic actor is still getting paychecks from his dysfunctional family at Showtime. Playing the best buddy of Tara’s husband Max (John Corbett) and the occasional f*ck buddy of Tara’s sister Charmaine (Rosemarie DeWitt), Oswalt’s character Neil has taken a few punts to the head this season, and after last night’s episode, “Doin’ Time,” viewers learned that the beatings will not cease anytime soon. The play-by-play on Neil’s latest twist of fate, and Tara’s latest flying clothesline to her psyche, after the jump.

In this go-around, the judges declared a new scoring champion while assuring us that Buzz Aldrin is never going to beat Olympic figure-skaters in the elegance department. United States of Tara Multiple-Personality Smackdown: ‘The Truth Hurts’

Last time we saw Tara , she was cheering up thanks to an Air Supply jam session in her neighbor’s suicide house. She had not told her family that Buck had been hijacking her body to woo a sweet bartender named Pammy (Joey Lauren Adams), hoping her male alter would recede back into her subconscious. But as we learned in last night’s episode, “The Truth Hurts,” Pammy and Buck are not going away anytime soon, and if anyone tries to get between them, Buck, the hardened Vietnam vet who shows his affection by cutting his lady’s toenails and replacing her water jug, will throw down with anyone, including Tara. After the jump, Movieline assesses the damage from last night’s match.
