Kelly Scandal An “Empire” star is currently trending and it’s unfortunately for ALL the wrong reasons. Taraji P. Henson is getting unceremoniously dragged for a comment she made on her IG story about Harvey Weinstein. The star who’s receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame January 28 offered a surprising reaction to the current R. Kelly criticism. Earlier today Taraji posted on her IG story a comparison between the singer and the embattled former film producer that’s got people talking. “Checking on these #mute for a friend,” wrote Taraji. She then looked up the numerous #MuteRKelly hashtags before typing in #MuteWeinstein which only had one post. She obviously felt like she hit fans with the Big Joker because she then went back and searched #MuteHarveyWeinstein to prove that that hashtag too had little to no use. Unfortunately for Taraji, Harvey’s not a recording artist so it would make sense that there aren’t a flurry of “mute” posts in full swing for him. Not only that, Harvey’s sexual misconduct was part of the massive “Me Too” movement that prompted a bevy of people to wear all-black to the 2018 Golden Globes. Sounds like a “muting” to us…but hey, what do we know? Fans are bewildered by Taraji’s behavior and they’re questioning what she possibly hoped to accomplish. Taraji. Taraji. I don’t understand why y’all older black folk do this every time. The “absence” of outrage in YOUR bubble, doesn’t mean it does not exist. Weinstein is literally on trial as we speak. Chris Brown: Arrested For Rape In Paris

Another disturbing chapter in the saga of pop star Chris Brown is unfolding in Paris today. According to Huffington Post, Brown is currently in custody after being detained by French authorities on rape charges. Two unidentified individuals were detained along with Brown. They are believed to be members of his entourage. Brown’s label, Sony Music, has declined a request for comment and has not yet revealed why Brown traveled to Paris in the first place. The woman who filed the complaint says that she met Brown and his entourage on the night of January 15 at the club Le Crystal in the 8th arrondissement near the Champs-Elysees. Early on the morning of January 16, the group proceeded to Mandarin Oriental Hotel near the Concorde Plaza in central Paris, which is presumably where the alleged assault occurred. Brown, of course, is no stranger to scandals and legal entanglements. After a promising start in the music industry that began with his first single going platinum in 2004, Brown’s success as a musician became overshadowed by his increasingly tumultuous personal life. In 2009 Brown assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna just prior to that year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. Though he avoided jail time in connection with that incident, the singer’s troubles with the law were only beginning. In 2014, Brown was imprisoned after being arrested and for assault and getting kicked out of court-ordered rehab. Though sentenced to 131 days, Brown wound up spending less than a month behind bars. Brown’s legal troubles have continued in the years since. Most recently, he was arrested after a concert in July on a felony battery charge stemming from an April 2017 incident in which he was accused of punching a man who photographed him without permission. Moments ago, CNN reported that in addition to the rape complaint, Brown is currently being held on undisclosed drug charges. The outlet reached out to Brown’s attorney, who declined to comment. SMH: R. Kelly’s Lawyer Admits The Singer Married Aaliyah At 15, But Claims She Lied About Her Age

Source: Scott Legato / Getty R. Kelly’s Lawyer Confirms His Client Married Aaliyah At 15-Years-Old R. Kelly has finally confirmed to the public that he was indeed briefly married to Aaliyah –well, through his lawyer, at least. Steve Greenberg appeared on Good Morning America in an effort to address the recent allegations of rape, abuse, and sexual misconduct that are being stacked up against his client following the Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R Kelly . When Kelly’s representative was asked if his client had ever been in a relationship with a woman who was below the age of consent, he replied that the singer ‘absolutely’ denied being with any underage girls, which was quickly called into question. “Was he married to Aaliyah when she was 15?” asked reporter Linsey Davis. Greenberg replied, surprisingly admitting that Kelly did marry her, but deflecting onto another famous relationship. “He was married to her when she was 15. Elvis was married to Priscilla,” replied Greenberg, who did not pause or miss a beat. This was a reference to the marriage of Elvis Presley and his wife Priscilla, who was almost 22 when she married the rock star, which she completed with her parents’ blessing. The reported continued to hound Greenberg on the subject saying, “So then, 15 is not of the age of legal consent, right?” But of course, Greenberg had an excused for Kelly, claiming he wasn’t in the wrong here because Aaliyah was dishonest. “Right except my understanding is that she did not claim to be 15. And in order to get married she had to lie about her age,” claimed the lawyer. “And he is saying he had no idea?” inquired Davis. To which Greenberg confirmed: “No idea.” But Aaliyah’s age still isn’t the only thing that’s disheartening about her relationship with Kelly. Jim DeRogatis , the reporter who has pursued the sexual and physical abuse allegations against R. Kelly since 2000, was a guest on the New York Times’ podcast series  The Popcast  with host Jon Caramanica last year. During the conversation, DeRogatis recalled when he first went through the documents that related to R. Kelly and Aaliyah’s annulment. “The annulment of the Aaliyah marriage and Aaliyah’s legal claim against him had been sealed in Detroit…they were sealed by the court but those documents were provided to me,” DeRogatis  revealed . “It’s a harrowing document, a non-disclosure agreement on both her part and Kelly’s, vowing not to pursue further legal claims for physical abuse. So it wasn’t just an underage sexual relationship, he hit her, allegedly, according to that court document.” The marriage was reported by Vibe magazine  shortly after the release of Aaliyah’s debut album,   Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number . The magazine found that the official Illinois wedding certificate falsified Aaliyah’s age, listing the late singer as 18. But the aforementioned document–vowing not to pursue further legal claims for physical abuse against Kelly–hasn’t really been mentioned when discussing various allegations, even in the  Surviving R. Kelly  documentary series that has been the catalyst for all the current R. Kelly conversations.   Continue reading →

But unlike Chance the Rapper and John Legend  who have come out against the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, the rapper blames the parents, NOT the singer himself. On social media, the rapper posted his thoughts about the highly-watched Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly,” which provided an in-depth look at the 25-plus-years of sexual misconduct accusations against the “Pied Piper.” The 48-year-old father admitted that he doesn’t like folks like the Savages and doesn’t believe they did enough to protect their children. “Let me tell y’all about R. Kelly. The truth is I don’t like the parents…Y’all know I ain’t gonna be on no reality show or Lifetime, I’ma be on CNN, straight up. It’s gonna get real, think about it, I’m not about to play with nobody, I’ma burn it down, I’m gonna do something,” he said.   In a second video, he added this wouldn’t have happened to him. “Ain’t nobody gonna play with my kids. Straight up. You shouldn’t have even been on TV, and if you a parent, you shouldn’t be on that unless you on CNN from a jail cell.” Adding, “I don’t know if R. Kelly did it or not, that ain’t any of my business, I ain’t judging, but I’m just saying those parents shouldn’t have let that go that far. … If my kid in there, it’s gonna be all out war. Everybody coming outside, to be honest with you.”   Wait…so which one is it? How can you be mad at parents for not protecting their daughters from sexual and physical violence you claim may not have happened?   Folks on Twitter were confused and disgusted by what Master P said, accusing him of victim blaming and refusing to hold Kelly accountable for his alleged behavior: Just heard Master P say that what R. R. Kelly Under Criminal Investigation Thanks To ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ Docuseries

Kelly docuseries —actually after episode 1—many were asking, “How is he not in jail?” Those hoping the R&B crooner and alleged sexual abuser get his proper comeuppance have gotten new hope since he is now officially under criminal investigation in Georgia.  According to TMZ , the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into the allegations that were made against the singer in the documentary. Via first-hand accounts, multiple women detailed being held by Kelly in horrifying conditions in his Georgia home. Investigators have reportedly reached out to several of the survivors, including Asante McGee, a woman who per her account had enough and managed to leave Kelly’s clutches. In the documentary, McGee returns to the now vacant home and the experience is traumatic, to say the least. Joycelyn Savage’s family has also been contacted. Lady Gaga FLIPPED OUT After Losing Golden Globe, Sources Claim

The 2019 Golden Globes were held on Sunday night, and like most Americans, you were probably either unaware the ceremony was taking place at all, or your response was an apathetic shrug and a vague curiosity about what else is on. But apparently for Lady Gaga, the Globes were like the Super Bowl, the Game of Thrones series finale, and a VFW meat raffle all rolled into one: As you’re probably aware, Gaga starred in the 37th remake of A Star Is Born this year. The film constituted a major step forward in her career, as — having long ago conquered the music realm — she now had an opportunity join the ranks of one-name icons like Cher and Madonna who went on to stake their claims in the world of prestige cinema. A big part of announcing yourself to the world as a legitimate acting talent, of course, is making a splash during award season. And in that respect, Gaga stumbled out of the gate in her race toward the Oscars. The pop icon didn’t leave last night’s ceremony empty-handed, mind you. She took home the prize for best original song for “Shallow.” But she’s won a music Globe in the past. This year, Gaga had her eyes on a different prize — the best actress in a motion picture drama award that wound up going to Glenn Close for her performance in The Wife. “She was flipping the f–k out afterwards and literally in tears,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “She had her acceptance speech ready and written and rehearsed and was certain that she was going to come home with several awards.” Apparently, the singer’s team led her to the mistaken belief that the category was a lock in her favor. “Gaga was asked countless times what she was going to do when she wins and had it in her head that this was in the bag,” says the insider. “When she lost she could hardly contain her tears. She was not happy at all and had to take a breather after to contain herself. She never thought she would lose to Glenn Close!” Obviously, there’s no shame in losing to a legend like Glenn Close, but Gaga was under the impression that the Globes would solidify her place as a major actress. Instead, the HFPA simply confirmed once again that she’s a major musical talent — a fact that was already universally accepted. “She is grateful, obviously, for ‘Shallow’ taking home the award, but she was really certain that the movie would take home a bunch more,” says the insider.
