Justin Bieber to Be Sued Over Cell Phone Prank?

Justin Bieber may be all about practical jokes these days – check out this clip from the season premiere of Punk’d – but at least two people in Texas don’t fight the singer very funny. Last month, Bieber sent out nine-tenths of a phone number, along with the message “Call me right now.” Naturally – despite the Tweet being taken down soon after it went live – many teenage girls followed this advice, simply guessing the identity of the final digit. Unfortunately for Bieber (and even more unfortunately for the countless fans hoping to hear his sweet, sexy voice), two residents in Texas – identified by TMZ as Dilcie and Kent – are now threatening legal action against the star because their phones won’t stop ringing. A lawyer for these plaintiffs says his clients demand compensation for the fact that they are receiving up to 1,000 phone calls per day. What does the attorney suggest? Concert ticks, an apology from Bieber or, of course, straight up cash. No word yet from Justin’s camp, excerpt perhaps a bit of laughter over just how absurd these charges would sound if ever brought to court.

‘Hunger Games’ Star Liam Hemsworth: What’s Next?

Two films with Dwayne Johnson, a Vietnam War romance and ‘The Expendables 2’ are in the Aussie actor’s future. By Fallon Prinzivalli Liam Hemsworth Photo: MTV News With “The Hunger Games” slaughtering its competition at the box office this past weekend, everyone’s eyes are locked on the movie’s three main stars to see what’s next. For those of you who loved Liam Hemsworth ‘s short but sweet scenes as Katniss Everdeen’s best friend, Gale, you’re in luck. While we’re sure the Aussie actor is enjoying the benefits of working hard on the film, he’s not sitting around waiting to film the sequel. He has quite a few other films in the works. Here’s a list of what to look forward to from the youngest Hemsworth brother. First on the list is his role as Bill “the Kid” Timmons, the newest addition to Sylvester Stallone’s team, in “The Expendables 2.” Mr. Church, played by Bruce Willis, enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like an easy paycheck. But when a member of the crew is brutally murdered, the Expendables seek revenge and find themselves on enemy turf with an unexpected threat looming over their heads. Also returning to the movie are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Yu Nan joins Hemsworth as another of the team’s newcomers in the film, which is set to release on August 17. After watching Hemsworth battle it out in that action flick, you can catch him in a different type of warring film titled “AWOL.” Based on a true story, the film follows a young Vietnam soldier who returns home to the States in search of his newly ex-girlfriend. Austin Stowell plays the broken-hearted soldier, Joiner, and Aimee Teegarden plays Juniper, his high school sweetheart. Hemsworth stars as Joiner’s best friend, Wright, who accompanies him on the risky journey. The backdrop of the film, which will be released later this year, is the anti-war movement at the University of Michigan. Josh Hutcherson isn’t the only ‘Hunger Games’ actor who may be working with Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson. Next year, Hemsworth will star alongside the wrestler-turned-actor in “Empire State.” Also based on a true story, the movie follows a plan set in motion by two childhood friends (one of whom will be played by Hemsworth) to rob an armored car depository. Johnson plays a NYPD officer who attempts to stop the cash heist, and Emma Roberts joins the cast as a waitress who takes interest in Hemsworth’s character. Then, in 2014, Johnson and Hemsworth will reunite for “Arabian Nights.” The tale weaves together some of our favorite adventures as a young commander named Ali Baba (Hemsworth) teams up with Sinbad (Johnson), Aladdin and Aladdin’s genie in order to rescue Scheherazade and her kingdom from the dark forces of a sorcerer. And, of course, you will see Hemsworth reprise his role as Gale Hawthorne in the November 22, 2013 release of “Catching Fire.” Gale will be in the picture more often this time around, and we’re excited to see how Hemsworth develops the character. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Justin Bieber In Hot Water After Phone Number Prank

After Bieber allegedly tweeted nine digits of a Texas phone number, two local residents are threatening legal action. By James Montgomery Justin Bieber Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Earlier this month, Justin Bieber decided to have a little fun with his 19 million Twitter followers when he posted a mysterious phone number and told them “call me right now.” In the tweet — which has since been deleted (but can be seen here … with the number blocked out) — Bieber included just nine digits of a Texas number, leaving the true Beliebers to figure out the rest … which, not surprisingly, caused some headaches for folks who had similar numbers. And now, two of them reportedly have threatened legal action. According to TMZ , a pair of Texas residents (a woman named Dilcie and a man named Kent) have hired an attorney, claiming that since the tweet, their phones have been ringing non-stop. And they’re seeking compensation from Bieber for his “reckless” behavior. The attorney tells the site that her clients received more than 1,000 phone calls from Bieber fans, at all hours of the day, and their patience “wears thin.” So they’re looking for restitution, which could come in any number of forms: An apology from JB himself, concert tickets for Dilcie’s grandchildren, an endorsement for Kent’s “upcoming online project,” or — of course — cold, hard cash. Kent, who doesn’t want his last name to be revealed, subsequently told ABC News that he’s had his number for 20 years, and he doesn’t want to change it just because of Bieber. Of course, there is a question about whether Justin’s initial tweets were even authentic, or if his account was somehow hacked. A spokesperson for the singer did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. Related Artists Justin Bieber

Madonna Makes Peace With Deadmau5 Over Ultra ‘Molly’ Comments

‘I don’t support drug use and I never have,’ Madonna Tweeted. By Gil Kaufman Madonna Photo: Getty Images A day after Madonna to task for seemingly making a drug reference during a surprise appearance at the Ultra Music Festival,
the singer buried the hatchet with the EDM superstar during a surprise Twitter summit. Deadmau5 went in hard on Madonna after she blew away partygoers over the weekend while introducing EDM icon Avicii, asking them, “How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?” That incensed Mau5, who slammed
Madonna for seemingly making a thinly veiled reference to the illegal drug MDMA (ecstasy), which is also alluded to in the title of her new album, MDNA .
Though she isn’t known for having an active Twitter presence, Madonna signed on Monday to chat with her fans under the handle, @MadonnaMDNAday. Deadmau5 was among those who joined the conversation, and the 31-year-old party starter followed up his epic 800-word Tumblr rant by telling Madonna, “You’re a role model to 100’s of millions. You have a powerful voice, EDM could use your positive influence, not ‘molly’ talk.” Madonna, 53, Tweeted a 1989 image of herself wearing Minnie Mouse ears with a new thought bubble that read, “From one mouse to another. I don’t support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called ‘Have You Seen Molly’ written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my last album …” Deadmau5 seemingly accepted her apology, responding, “Fair enough, I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally … regardless, just be a little more aware of what you should represent at EDM events, and I’ll watch my mouth.” That was good enough for Madonna, too, who replied, “Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up ‘privately.’ šŸ˜‰ See you on the road.” And that was that. Deadmau5 was pleased with the response, telling his nearly one million followers, “Well there you have it kids. I’ve said what I needed to say, which ill still stand by, and so did she. life goes on. No more talk of that.” Related Artists Madonna

Madonna Slammed By Deadmau5 In Expletive-Filled Rant

Shortly after her appearance at Ultra Music Festival, Deadmau5 calls Madge a ‘f—ing idiot’ on his Facebook page. By Jocelyn Vena Madonna Photo: AFP/Getty Images Madonna surprised partygoers at Ultra Music Festival over the weekend when she took the stage to introduce EDM star Avicii. But one of dance music’s biggest stars didn’t meet her appearance with such excitement. Deadmau5 took to his Facebook after her cameo to criticize the singer (who just dropped her album MDNA this week) for a joke she made. It was Madonna asking “How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?” that left the producer a bit perturbed as Molly is a thinly veiled reference to the drug MDMA, which is also referenced in the title of Madge’s new album. “Very classy there madonna. ‘HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???’ such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra. quite the f’n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! F—ing cant smack my head hard enough right now,” he wrote on his site. “Seriously, i giveth not a f—ing single F— for slating on madonna for reaching an entirely NEW level of idiocy … i can appreciate her meteoric career, and all good deeds done, but WHAT THE F— WAS THAT? That’s your big contribution to EDM? Thats your big message to ultra attendees? Hipster speak for looking for drugs? F— off you f—ing IDIOT. F—.” Seemingly knowing that his expletive-filled Facebook rant about her appearance would spark debate, he added, “well if this doesnt start a f—in flame war, not sure what will. lol. “yeah, i really kinda leeeeeeeeroy jenkins’d that s— huh… MDNA / Molly / MDMA / whatever .. something about a track? still seems the same to me, coz its still, in my opinion, unnecessary promotion of the sh– that really held EDM down for years.” Deadmau5 received tons of feedback, some agreeing and others siding with Madonna. Hours later, the famed EDM producer wrote a much lengthier post on his Tumblr to clarify what he meant by his comments regarding Madonna’s “Molly” statement. “Im not perfect. i have my vices, and some of them are probably more harmful than a recreational drug or two… but i do know that i am at the very least morally obligated not to blatantly inflict or advocate anything that’s detrimental to society, others health, etc,” he explained in the post, titled “Responsibility.” “So, if you can be pandered with MDMA references, then at least pander your own ass with a good sense of responsibility which will enable you to make the personal choices that are right for YOU… then i wont have to feel like a f—ing moron on a stage because you paid money to listen to some warm humming sounds high as f—. Besides, one day ill get older, and i dont want a bunch of f—ing irresponsible f—heads on my lawn. RESPONSIBLE f—bags, much preferred… but will still be asked to [get] off my lawn for being a f—bag all the same.” Were Deadmau5′ comments out of line, or was Madonna’s joke inappropriate? ‘Secret Life’ Star Shailene Woodley Talks ‘Ups And Downs’ Of Season Four

Golden Globe-nominated actress also opens up about when she might be looking for her next movie role. By Christina Garibaldi Shailene Woodley Photo: MTV News Shailene Woodley has certainly been living a dream for the past few months. For her role in “The Descendents,” the young star not only got to play opposite George Clooney, but she was nominated for a Golden Globe and won an Independent Spirit Award. Not bad for her first movie role. And even though Woodley has had a few weeks to recover, she revealed she is still in awe of all the glitz and glamour that went into attending the big events. “Every single night you’d be at a different venue, every day you’d be at some fancy brunch, lunch or something and you’d be there and there’d be different lamp shades, different curtains, but you’d be sitting at the same table with the same exact people.” Woodley told MTV News. “So it was kind of great and you get to know everyone. It became a little family that migrated to different areas.” Woodley is now gearing up for the fourth season of her hit ABC Family series, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Last season left off with Woodley’s character, Amy, accepting the proposal of her boyfriend and baby’s father, Ricky. Woodley admits that the couple will face some unexpected challenges as they deal with domestic life. “There’s a lot of ups and down,” Woodley said. “I mean, she’s living with Ricky full time, so I think anybody who is confined to a small space, there might be some disputes, they might be a little bit tormented by each other for a while. And they have a 2-year-old son, so I think just the drama and the hardships of raising a child at any age, but specifically as a 17- and 18-year-old, there’s a lot of difficulty in that, but they find a way to make it through it.” Will the newly engaged couple find themselves walking down the aisle soon? “I think definitely in the future. I don’t know about this season, they are in the future,” Woodley said. “There’s a lot of pressure on Amy coming from Ricky and her family as well to get married and to set a date. And for Amy, she really likes having the ring on her finger, I think for her it was a control thing. … She’s really in no rush to move on to anything big.” And it seems Woodley is in no rush to move on to her next movie role. The young actress is patiently waiting for the right script to come along. “I would love to do another movie, but until I read something I’m necessarily super passionate about I’m not going to jump in the wave and do a movie now,” Woodley said. “But I’d rather do a small, small role in an amazing movie than a big role in a not so great movie.” Are you excited for the season premiere of “Secret Life”? ‘American Idol’ A ‘Constant Struggle’ For Erika Van Pelt

‘I think a lot of your fate rides on what sort of light [the judges] shed on you,’ latest castoff tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Photo: FOX “American Idol” fans might still be scratching their heads as to why Erika Van Pelt was sent home on last week’s episode. With a brand-new makeover , the singer took on Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” and received mostly positive feedback from the judges, so when she was eliminated, it not only shocked fans, but Van Pelt as well. “I’ve been in the bottom [for] four consecutive weeks. I wasn’t surprised at that. Getting eliminated, I felt a little robbed, I can’t lie,” she told MTV News on Monday (March 26). “Everything happens for a reason.” Looking back at her time on “Idol,” Van Pelt said she felt “confused” by the judges’ remarks , especially for her latest performance, and feels that their changing critiques may have swayed voters. “I think a lot of your fate rides on what sort of light [the judges] shed on you,” Van Pelt said. “For me, I was doing ‘New York State of Mind,’ which is a ballad, and every time Billy Joel has ever performed it, he’s been sitting behind a piano, he’s not dancing around, and [Jennifer Lopez] made some comments about me planting my feet. I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t feel like I need to jump around to sing. There are a few other contestants on the show that do nothing but stand there and sing, and they don’t say anything to them. [At] the very least, they get standing O’s, and they like that. I just felt it was a constant struggle for me.” Yet Van Pelt doesn’t feel like she was the only contestant receiving contradicting feedback week after week. “There are a lot of really great performers,” Van Pelt said. “Even my personal favorites have gotten some really sort of questionable feedback. I thought their performances were great, and they’d get slammed by the judges. It’s a weird thing. I feel like you never really know.” This summer, Van Pelt will join the other top 10 contestants on tour, where she said she will finally be able to show fans who she really is. “I felt like I was kind of kept in a box a little bit,” Van Pelt said of her time on “Idol.” “It’s just reality, just the structure of the show didn’t allow me to show who I really am as an artist. I have a lot of facets, and I’ve felt like they may have pegged me as this one thing and pushed me in that one direction, but I got a lot going on.” Were you surprised Erika was eliminated? Ultra Music Festival’s ‘Best Of Bass’ Pre-Party: Smog Vs. Basshead

Miami’s Mekka hosts 12th Planet, Pendulum, Drop the Lime and more. By Akshay Bhansali 12th Planet Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images MIAMI — Nestled in a series of rooms at Mekka downtown, Smog vs. Basshead, a party conceived by bass-music champions from L.A. and Miami, on Thursday night again realized a frenzied hands-in-the-air steamfest. For the third year in a row, hundreds of partygoers screamed their lungs out, pumping their arms to the warbles and drum and bass. For all the talk of dubstep and drum and bass being mostly underground, judging by the event’s attendance, the genre is booming — and pioneers like 12th Planet (born John Dadzie), a 13-year California bass veteran and Smog label head, couldn’t be prouder. “It started off as a party at the White Room, and Basshead is a label based out of Miami,” 12th explained to MTV News after his set. “The label actually put out my first dubstep release, so we were kind of always routed together, and we just decided to join forces because, being from California, it’s hard to break into other markets. “We got the opportunity to work in Miami, and the first show was a hit. And the second show, last year, was the biggest Smog vs. Basshead. And then this year, just as many people. So, I’m totally excited — totally stoked.” The world SVB creates bears a comparison to the large-scale EDM event taking place a few blocks away. While the bass get-together might not reach the scale of the Ultra Music Festival , a variety of artists gathered for a series of fiery performances, taking fans into day-break. “It’s just five room of bass — straight up!” 12th proclaimed. SVB featured 16bit, Noah D, Flinch, Jaun Basshead and more. U.K. bass aggregator, feeder and video-sharing community UKF boasted a Pendulum DJ set, Zeds Dead and Kaon Sound. The Trouble & Bass room had Drop the Lime, AC Slater and Toddla T. The Metalheadz room was headlined by Goldie & Bailey. “All these guys making great, great music. We even had Foreign Beggars come down,” 12th said about his former tourmates, an electronic hip-hop collective that recently caught the eye of deadmau5. “They’ve never even played in Florida. I think that is the appeal of this party: You are going to hear the best of bass music.” Miami Music Week is going down, and MTV News is on the ground!
