‘My brain’s not really there right now,’ Fergie tells MTV News of her musical hiatus. By Christina Garibaldi Fergie of Black Eyed Peas Photo: MTV News The Black Eyed Peas have certainly been enjoying their much-deserved break. Back in November, BEP announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus following three years on the road in support of their albums The Beginning and The E.N.D. MTV News caught up with Fergie on Thursday (March 22) in New York, and she couldn’t be happier being off the road and spending some time at home. “I love being on break. I’m getting to do things I really didn’t have the capacity to do on tour,” Fergie said at the Voli Light Vodka Brunch. “I get more structure at home, I get more time with family, with my husband, with my dogs. I’m still cleaning out my closet, getting to decorate my house, just nesting. I love it.” Fergie has been keeping herself busy, though. Even though she won’t be a judge on “The X Factor,” the singer is set to release her third fragrance and is working on her shoe line. “I’m more focusing on my other things, like my shoe line, I’m designing for that. I’m really getting to work from home, and I’m loving it,” Fergie said. “Having all these creative juices flowing into more girly things and visual and things like that for me.” The last time the Peas took a break, Fergie released her first solo album, The Dutchess. The album produced three #1 singles: “London Bridge,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Glamorous.” Yet this time around, Fergie isn’t very eager to have the spotlight all to herself. “I’m always writing, but there’s no current plans for a solo record or a Black Eyed Peas record. I was on tour for eight years. My brain’s not really there right now,” Fergie said. “It’s kind of just a machine that kept on moving with no signs of stopping. Finally, it’s break time.” The other members of the Black Eyed Peas have been keeping busy on personal projects as well, will.i.am is continuing to work on his next solo album, #WillPower, and will make an appearance on Justin Bieber ‘s upcoming album, Believe. Taboo is working on his own solo project and heading overseas for the Ultramagnetic DJ Experience tour, and apl.de.ap will reportedly focus on being an education ambassador in the Philippines. Ray J Rep Says He Had No Idea Whitney Houston Was Using Cocaine

 as a result of accidental drowning 
 with cocaine use and heart disease as contributing factors, the finger pointing began. Leolah Brown, the sister of Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, went on the “Dr. Drew” show on HLN on Thursday night and made some salacious allegations aimed at Houston’s frequent companion, singer Ray J. Leolah claimed that she saw Ray J leaving Houston’s hotel room in a hurry on the night of her death in February. “I saw Ray J coming out of the hotel, hiding his head, being pushed into the car,” she told Drew. “Why? I looked and I said, ‘why is he hiding his face?’ He’s always trying to show his face when he’s around Whitney. Why now? Why are you trying to hide now Ray J?” She went on to allege that Ray J was never Houston’s boyfriend, as widely reported, but that he was her “runner boy,” and that he often fetched and gave her drugs. Drew said that CNN/HLN could not independently confirm Leolah Brown’s claims. But a spokesperson for Ray J denied the allegations, telling TMZ that he had no knowledge that Houston was using again before her death. Furthermore, the unnamed rep said Ray J was not even with Houston on the day she died, but was in San Diego. While a final coroner’s report is not due for two more weeks, the initial report claims that traces of cocaine were found in Houston’s system at the time of death along with anti-anxiety drug Xanax, muscle relaxant Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, which officials said played no role in her death. No cocaine was found in the singer’s room when she died, but coroner spokesman Craig Harvey noted that cocaine metabolites were found in her system, leading them to conclude that Houston was a chronic user of the drug. A number of prescription pills were recovered in the Beverly Hills hotel room, but officials from the coroner’s office said there wasn’t an unusual amount of medication. Debarge is the Teflon Don … “Rhythm of the Night” singer El DeBarge is in the clear after he was arrested for drug possession this week — because the L.A. County D.A. has declined to file charges. According to official D.A. documents, the case was rejected due to insufficient evidence. TMZ broke the story … DeBarge was arrested on Tuesday for felony possession of narcotics with intent to sell — the singer’s third drug arrest since 2001. According to the docs, police officers noticed DeBarge and another man speaking on the street — and for some reason, decided to search them … without giving a reason why. After searching them and coming up with nothing — cops claim they perused the surrounding area … and found a baggie of rock cocaine hidden under a nearby car. The other man insisted he was there to buy the rock from DeBarge — but DeBarge denied the accusation … and the D.A. decided there wasn’t enough evidence to make the charge stick. These rappers think they’re brolic, but DeBarge beat his case in a couple of days. Top that! He probably just looked in the cop’s eyes and sang a ditty until they just let him off the hook. Say It Ain’t So! L.A. Coroner Toxicology Report Confirms That Whitney Houston Had Yayo In Her System At Time Of Death!!

SMH…R.I.P. Whitney According to TMZ reports : Whitney Houston had cocaine in her system when she died — this according to the L.A. County Coroner. The L.A. County Coroner has just released the singer’s official cause of death — accidental drowning … but the report also notes heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors to Whitney’s demise. A source connected to the investigation tells us it is “very possible” Whitney had a heart attack that caused her to lose consciousness and drown. The heart attack may have been triggered by hardening of the arteries as a result of cocaine use. As we previously reported, Whitney was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel last month and several pills were found on the scene — including Xanax, Ibuprofen, and Midol. Investigators found NO EVIDENCE of cocaine in the hotel room. Law enforcement sources have told us from the beginning they did not suspect foul play — and believe her death was not a homicide. But before Katy herself introduces the video and answers your questions on MTV.com following the debut, we have a wish list of five things we’d love to see in the visuals. Directed by Ben Mor and filmed at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base in Oceanside, California, in February, the clip promises to show Perry in full combat mode. And given that she usually looks impeccably feminine and super glossy, it could be fun to see this new, more lo-fi side of the star. Katy Perry With Black Hair Sure, we love Katy’s blue hair , but have we missed Katy in her signature jet-black hair? Yes! It’s her look, and we can’t imagine a video for a song as dark as this would include candy-colored locks. Katy Perry Kissing Off a Former Lover Given the fact that the song is all about saying “buh-bye” to a dude who doesn’t deserve you, we hope that story line pops up in the video somehow. How that ties into the Marine theme of the video? Rihanna’s New Tattoo: A Cross! On Her Neck!

Rihanna recently obtained a new tattoo of a tiny cross, pictured in a slanted position on her left collarbone. It’s her 16th tattoo overall, according to reports! The ink artist, Bang Bang, posted a black and white photo of his creation: “New #cross #tattoo I put on @rihanna last night,” he Tweeted (below). Rihanna, 24, got herself inked on March 15 in New York from her preferred tattoo artiste. Bang Bang is the creator of most of the singer’s tattoos. He says they decided to put the latest mark on the R&B star’s collarbone “because it’s easy to hide with a necklace but also can be in plain sight.” Why does a woman need so many tattoos in the first place? Who cares, it’s fun. “She always flips out [when it’s done] and jumps up and down like a 16-year-old girl getting her first car,” Bang Bang said. By John Mitchell Rihanna and her grandparents Photo: Instagram Enjoying a bit of a break after a hectic few months, Rihanna stopped by her grandparents’ apartment in Brooklyn, New York, this weekend for an intimate family gathering celebrating her grandmother’s birthday. The Barbadian pop sensation live tweeted practically the entire affair, beginning with a stop to pick up some wine and grub. Ever the expert in double entendre, Rihanna tweeted a picture of the sausage aisle, calling it her “fave section in Whole Foods.” She posted 21 pictures of the festivities, many with the hashtag #grangrandollybday. It’s been a busy and at times controversial 2012 for Rihanna, who has endured heavy criticism for her decision to add ex-boyfriend Chris Brown to a remix of her Talk That Talk track “Birthday Cake.” Brown remains on probation after pleading guilty to felony assault of the singer in 2009. But the only thing on Rihanna’s mind this weekend was celebrating her “Gran Gran” Dolly’s birthday with family and close friends. Ever the devoted granddaughter, Ri-Ri hit the kitchen to cook up some goods before enjoying a glass of wine with her grandparents, who met in Guyana before moving to Barbados and later the U.S. Growing up, Rihanna regularly spent holidays in New York with her grandparents. The “We Found Love” singer even tweeted her grandfather’s confusion over her ever-changing hair color. “My GranDad: Robyn how ya is get hair from red to cream to black??? Cuz ya don’t carry wigs,” she wrote. “Ya does wash it out?! ME: ROTFL (no words)” It looks like Gran Gran Dolly got plenty of gifts and the family enjoyed cake and champagne as well as a fun game of dress up. Rihanna posted several pics of both her grandmother and grandfather Lionel sporting sideways-skewed baseball caps and heavy gold chains. The family visit must have been a nice change of pace for the always-working diva, who is prepping for the May release of her film debut, “Battleship.” She’s also still promoting her hit 2011 album Talk That Talk, and in a recent interview with “Access Hollywood,” she admitted she’s trying to work out a collaboration with her good friend Katy Perry. “We have been working on this for years. Well, the singer is giving his fans that opportunity. Bieber has released two photos and requested that fans choose which will be the official art for his next single, “Boyfriend.” The photo that receives the most fan tweets wins. Biebs dons a gray checkered top over a gray T-shirt in both photos, but it’s the pose that really differentiates the two shots. In one, he stands looking away from the camera, his hands at his side. In the other, he’s looking to the camera, his hand running through his famous hair. The Mike Posner-produced track will drop on March 26. It’s the first single off his forthcoming album, Believe , out later this year. Bieber hit the studio with a number of A-listers for the album, including Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and super-producers Diplo and Ryan Tedder, plus will.i.am, Drake and Lil Wayne. “You can’t really expect anything from my album. It’s really, really different,” Bieber told MTV News. “And it’s new; it’s not the same thing everyone’s used to hearing right now on the radio. It’s really exciting for me, ’cause I’m able to break out of my shell and show my fans what I’m all about and show other people who might not like my music that maybe they can like my music. “I’m not trying to lose any of my young fans,” he continued. “I’m not trying to lose any of my fans, I’m just trying to gain fans, and I think that’s the best way to do it.
