Enrique Iglesias Debuts ‘Tonight’ At American Music Awards

Spanish hitmaker sings toned-down version of raunchy club joint at awards show. By Mawuse Ziegbe Enrique Iglesias performs at the American Music Awards on Sunday Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP Enrique Iglesias’ new song, “Tonight,” boasts some very unsubtle lyrics, so it makes sense the Spanish pop crooner chose a major awards show to perform the track for the first time. At the American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 19), the heartthrob hit the stage with his bouncy, fist-pump-friendly number, whose chorus addresses a fetching love interest with the lyrics “Please excuse me/ I don’t mean to be rude/ But tonight I’m f—ing you.” Of course, the blush-inducing banger was scrubbed clean for prime-time TV, but the singer still kept the performance spicy. Following a bilingual introduction from actors Eric Stonestreet and Rico Rodriguez II from ABC’s “Modern Family,” Iglesias began with the bawdy track, swapping out “f—ing you” for “loving you.” After the first chorus wrapped up, two huge drum lines strolled down the aisles and ascended the stage as the singer launched into his “Jersey Shore”-approved hit, “I Like It.” The drummers pounded away, bringing a marching-band vibe to the track, while the song title whipped though the giant monitors. In contrast to the rowdy vibe of the track, guest rapper Pitbull hit the stage in a classy ensemble, spitting his rhymes in a suit and ascot. When MTV News caught up with Iglesias at a rehearsal for the AMAs last week, he maintained that the lyrical raunchiness of “Tonight” isn’t meant to twist up any knickers, but rather is just good, kind-of clean fun. “I thought it was a strong statement … to say in a song, but it’s fun,” Iglesias insisted . “It’s probably what a lot of guys and girls think about at times, but they don’t have the guts to say. It’s pretty straightforward. Music has become so direct and you can say whatever you want, which is cool. At the end of the day, it’s just a song — you don’t have to take it seriously. You can have fun with it.” The singer said he was also amped to rock the stage with Pitbull for “I Like It.” “I just want to make it as energetic as possible. I’ve done it before and I loved it and being able to bring in as much percussion as possible and as much energy,” he said. “And this time I get to perform it with Pitbull, which is a good friend and I always love sharing the stage with him because he truly is a great guy and a great showman.” What did you think of Enrique Iglesias’ performance of “Tonight” at the American Music Awards? Justin Bieber Gets Serious With ‘Pray’ At AMAs

Teen star performed his new ballad at Sunday’s American Music Awards. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber performs at the 2010 American Music Awards on Sunday Photo: ABC Sitting at a piano, Justin Bieber showed his haters he’s more than a pretty face and floppy hair for his American Music Awards performance. Bieber played his new single, the uplifting ballad “Pray,” which is a departure from his usual upbeat pop fare. There were no pyrotechnics and no backup dancers. The beginning of the performance was all about Bieber singing the new track off his My Worlds Acoustic album (out on Friday). Midway through the song, however, Bieber threw in that showmanship that’s made him famous. Just one performance after Katy Perry used a children’s choir for her performance of her equally inspirational song, “Firework,” Bieber was joined by a choir of his own. He ended the song on his knees while the crowd rose to their feet to give him a standing ovation. The track — which features a mid-tempo, world-music beat, synths and Bieber’s vocals in a lower key than we’ve heard before — repeats one simple refrain in the chorus. “I close my eyes and I can see a better day/ I close my eyes and pray,” he sings. “It’s a very uplifting song, very motivational,” Bieber told Ryan Seacrest earlier this week about the song. “It definitely comes from the heart. It’s very beautiful. I definitely thought of Michael [Jackson’s] ‘Man in the Mirror’ when I was writing it. The track can be found on the singer’s third release in a year, which features acoustic versions of some of his biggest hits like “Baby.” What did you think of Justin Bieber’s AMA performance? Chris Brown Gets Praise From Judge At Progress Hearing

‘No one has ever done a better or more consistent job than you have,’ judge tells singer in court. By Mawuse Ziegbe Chris Brown arrives at the courthouse for his hearing on Thursday Photo: Mark Ralston/AFP/Getty Images Chris Brown continues to score praise as he completes the terms of his probation for his much-publicized assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna. On Thursday (November 18), the singer attended a progress-report hearing in Los Angeles, which was live-streamed by TMZ , in which Judge Patricia Schnegg lavished praise on the “Deuces” crooner. “Of all probationers I’ve ever had, and I’ve had thousands of probationers, no one has ever done a better or more consistent job than you have,” Schnegg said. “And I really want to commend you for taking responsibility, and for actually working diligently to complete all of the things the court has required of you.” Judge Schnegg also remarked that Brown has finished 581 hours of community labor and only has seven more domestic-violence counseling sessions to complete. Brown has another hearing scheduled for January 28 for what Schnegg called one of the last times she plans to see him in court. “You’ve done a very good job,” Schnegg said of Brown’s progress. Schnegg’s praise is consistent with other hearings in which the singer has received a positive progress assessment . Brown, wearing a striped cardigan and dark tie, was mostly silent throughout the brief hearing, nodding occasionally at Schnegg’s comments. Under the terms of Brown’s five-year probation sentence in 2009, the singer is responsible for 180 days of community labor and required to attend domestic-violence counseling for up to one year. He was also issued a stay-away order by the judge that bars him from communicating or associating with Rihanna. Brown’s career has been going well since his last August hearing as well. The singer’s Tyga-assisted collabo “Deuces” topped the charts, and he premiered the dance-driven video for the club-friendly record “Yeah 3X.” Related Photos Rihanna And Chris Brown: A Photo Timeline Related Artists Chris Brown

Brandy Was ‘Very Sad’ About ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Elimination

‘I think Bristol did a great job,’ the singer says after controversial ‘DWTS’ results. By Jocelyn Vena Brandy appears on “The View” on Thursday Photo: ABC Many fans were shocked when Brandy was voted off “Dancing With the Stars” on Wednesday. Her elimination left Kyle Massey, Bristol Palin and Jennifer Grey in the top three as the show prepares to crown a winner next week. Asked how she felt about being eliminated, the singer took the high road but expressed some sadness. “Well, I think Bristol did a great job. She has improved [and] one of the great things about ‘Dancing With the Stars’ is the fans can get behind you and vote,” she said when she stopped by “The View” on Thursday (November 18). “I was sad. I was very sad because we worked so hard and when you come into competition you want to go as far as you can.” Brandy’s partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, didn’t get too heated about the elimination said he doesn’t believe Palin is a better dancer than Brandy. “I’m not ticked off,” Chmerkovskiy said. “I’m not ticked off because I feel everyone has the right to be on,” he added. “We had a lot of controversial eliminations this season. I feel like we should stay true to who we are now.” So does Maksim think he and Brandy were robbed? “Well, then a lot of people were robbed [over the years],” he said. Although Brandy isn’t taking home the mirror ball trophy, she said she has managed to win something else. “It’s completely changed my life,” she explained. “I feel like I’ve tapped back into my confidence and my power. This show has brought the best out in me [and] thanks to Maks.” She also had some predictions going into the final week of “DWTS.” “I don’t know who’s going to win but I know who I want to win … Kyle Massey,” she said. Partner Maks agreed saying, “I think Kyle is the best candidate.” What did you think of Brandy being voted off “DWTS”? Tell us in the comments! Pink Confirms She’s Pregnant

‘I’m eating for two these days,’ she said on Wednesday’s ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ By Jocelyn Vena Pink and Carey Hart Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images After rumors circulated last week that Pink is pregnant , the singer confirmed the news when taping her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that will air Wednesday . Telling the talk-show host that she’s “glowing,” Pink added, “I’m eating for two these days. … I worked for it. … It was not an ‘Oops!’ ” Pink explained that she and husband Carey Hart hadn’t responded to the speculation in the week since the rumors first emerged because she had suffered a miscarriage in the past. “I was just really nervous,” Pink said on the show, according to Usmagazine.com . “I have had a miscarriage before, but if I was going to talk about it with anyone, it was going to be with you.” While Pink didn’t announce the baby’s gender is she did tease that she might have to buy a lot of pink. “But the doctor kind of told me what she thinks [based on the ultrasound],” she said. “I’m terrified because she thinks it’s a girl! My mom has always wished me a daughter just like me. I’m terrified one of us will go to jail.” The pop star even gushed about starting a family with Hart, despite their split in 2008 before getting back together in 2009. “I never had anything in my life that I didn’t work hard for and my relationship is that,” she said. “We worked really hard and we had our little meltdowns, a couple of them. … We both needed to do that and come back together. It’s just yummy!”

Rihanna Glad Avril Lavigne Appears On Loud’s ‘Cheers’

‘Cheers (Drink to That)’ ‘makes you feel like celebrating,’ Rihanna tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Rihanna Photo: MTV News Rihanna isn’t afraid to share the limelight on her new album, Loud . She appears with everyone from Drake to Eminem to Nicki Minaj . But, one artist fans might be surprised to see make a cameo on the album is Avril Lavigne . Rih samples the singer’s yodel from her 2002 ballad “I’m With You” on her party anthem “Cheers (Drink to That).” “I love that song [‘Cheers’]. That is one of my favorite songs on the album. It makes you feel like celebrating,” she tells MTV News about the song. “It gives you a great feeling inside like you want to go out and have a drink. … People can’t wait for the weekend.” Sure, Rihanna has a busy schedule that doesn’t really warrant her having the weekend off, but she says she still loves them. “I work all weekend, but I still can’t wait. I still get excited about it being Friday, even though I’m not getting the weekend off,” she explains. “I got to be up at 5 a.m. on Saturday anyway. I just like the fact that it’s Friday. It’s just something that became a habit, so you get that feeling Friday night [and] it doesn’t matter what time you have to wake up on Saturday. You want to get excited about the weekend, you want to go out and have a drink with your girls, who have the weekend off.” On “Cheers,” Rih samples Lavigne, and she explains why they didn’t just have the Canadian pop singer come in and re-record the vocal for the song. “I asked the same thing, but when I heard the track, it was already embedded in the music, so the producers already had it that way,” she explains. “But it wouldn’t have made a difference. It would have sounded the same. But I’m just glad that we could use her sample, because it became such a huge part of the instrumental that if it were not to be in the song, it would change the whole vibe of the song.” What’s your favorite song on Loud ? Dancing With the Stars Recap: Jennifer Grey is Perfect!

Jennifer Grey certainly made a statement last night. With just one night remaining before the finals, and voters paying scant attention to scores for several weeks now, there is no margin for error. Everyone is at risk. Well, everyone but her. The way she and Derek Hough danced Monday, the other three pairs are tangoing for second. A perfect 30 once? Amazing. Twice? Unheard of. HAND HER THE MIRRORBALL : Hopefully next week, the voters will . The 90-minute program was probably the most entertaining of the season so far, as all the couples stepped up their game, including Bristol Palin , who wasn’t terrible. Not that she deserves to make the finals over Jennifer, Brandy or Kyle Massey. Each outperformed Bristol, predictably, last night as they have for the final month. Let’s break it down by couple. Regaining sole ownership of the top of the charts were Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, whose efforts were pure perfection. Their first dance was the cha cha, set to Duffy’s “Mercy,” and when Bruno calls it “luminous, vibrant, sexy” and flawless execution, well, you knew 30 was comin’. Amazingly, it got better. An elegant routine that was pure dance, their waltz was a gem. Carrie Ann called it “one of the most beautiful things ever.” Apparently. 30 . Flying under the radar much of the fall, Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer showed why they’ve lasted so long with a fun-loving rumble of a samba. Good for 29 . How can you not love this guy and the infectious energy he brings week in and week out? The couple brought it a second time in their tango, scoring another 29 . Brandy started things off with a bold paso doble, which she compared to coming into one’s own, a la Katy Perry’s “Firework.” Imperfect but solid, it netted her a 27 . Their tango, however, had no such imperfections. Awarding her 30 , the judges called it “lush” “voluptuous” and “full of flavor,” with marvelous body extension. Finally, Bristol Palin. Despite our conspiracy theory about why she’s still on the show, she did pull off a pretty fierce paso doble with Mark Ballas, earning a nice 27 . Her waltz, unfortunately, fell just a little bit short. It was far from bad, don’t get us wrong, but she needed to be nearly perfect to compete and wasn’t with a 26 . The Dancing With the Stars scores: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough: 60 (30, 30). Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer: 58 (29, 29). Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 57 (30, 27). Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas: 53 (27, 26). Well, how do you see it playing out tonight? Can Bristol do the impossible and make the finals ? If she does, it will be at the expense of someone more deserving. Who are you rooting for on DWTS?

Jamie and Lynn Spears: Reconciled!

Britney Spears’ divorced parents are back together. Jamie and Lynn Spears, who also have a daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, are reconciling eight years after getting divorced. They’re not married again (yet), but “they’re back together and are doing well and happy,” a source tells People. “[They’re] not remarried but back together.” The couple, who split in 2002, were looking friendly on Saturday at Los Angeles lounge Boudoir, cheering and dancing as DJ Mr. Best spun Britney Spears hits. “They were in a great mood together,” says an onlooker of the pop star’s folks. “They were laughing together, dancing and laughing [and] totally having fun.” This sparked rumors of the couple rekindling their lost passion, which were soon confirmed by people close to the singer’s camp and her parents themselves. “Lynne is a dear, sweet person,” a family friend says. “She deserves all the happiness in the world. My only wish for her would be a happy ending.” Congratulations to the whole family on this happy news.
