Bob Costas: Gun Control Would’ve Saved Jovan Belcher

NBC Sports’ Bob Costas used his halftime segment during last night’s Eagles-Cowboys game to advocate for gun control following the murder-suicide of Jovan Belcher . The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker killed himself and girlfriend Kasandra Perkins , shocking the NFL world Saturday. Costas weighed in on the tragedy Sunday: Bob Costas Gun Control Rant In a segment about 90 seconds long, Costas began by mocking the sports cliche about how “this really puts it all in perspective,” then became even more pointed. He paraphrased and quoted extensively from a piece by Fox Sports’ Jason Whitlock: ”In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? But here, wrote Jason Whitlock, is what I believe.” “If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.” The online reaction to Costas’ segment was swift, with many people criticizing the longtime broadcaster for expressing his personal views on a program meant for entertainment. Others praised him for taking a strong stand on the controversial issue and for refusing to gloss over Jovan Belcher’s death with lip service and empty platitudes. The Situation Sued, Accused of Hiding Drug Problem From Vodka Company

Earlier this month, Jersey Shore ‘s The Situation sued Devotion Spirits for not fulfilling their end of a contract they signed. Now they’re firing back and then some. The protein-infused vodka company (yes, that awesome-sounding concoction is real) has counter-sued, alleging that the reality star is the one who flaked. Among their alleged reasons for filing a counter-lawsuit against Mike Sorrentino: Concealing his drug problem Reportedly showing up late to events Always demanding perks for his friends Asking investors if they had any weed Possibly doing cocaine in a bathroom at a 2011 event Ouch. Devotion says The Situation’s contract was terminated in March 2012, the same month he checked into rehab; Mike sued the vodka company this fall. Don’t ask us how they’re surprised that the Sitch (supposedly) pulled some of those moves, but it’s all gonna come down to the letter of the agreement. Did he fulfill his obligations, and did they pay him as a result? That simple question, not whether or not he acted like a douche at times, is for the courts to decide.

Mike Sorrentino follows JWoww into the world of couture fashion. By Gil Kaufman Mike Sorrentino aka The Situation Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Move over, JWoww, you’re not the only “Jersey Shore” castmember preparing for the catwalk. Just a few weeks after his housemate debuted a piece from her upcoming Filthy Couture line at the MTV Movie Awards, budding rapper Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is getting in the clothes game as well. The Sitch has teamed up with irreverent New York-based fashion house Dilligaf (look up the acronym ) to launch his own couture line. According to a press release announcing the deal, the “line of high-quality wearable art” will debut next month and run the gamut from T-shirts and sweatshirts to accessories, including hats. A spokesperson for the company said on Wednesday (June 23) that the vibrantly colored clothes will feature a variety of accents including foiling, cross-stitching and nail heads, noting that Sorrentino has been very involved in the design process. “Mike ‘The Situation’ embodies our irreverent approach to life,” Jodi Massry, president of Dilligaf by Bohica Bill, said in the release. “He lives the ‘let’s not take things so seriously’ mentality every day. Dilligaf’s followers and the Sitch are kindred spirits. Anyone who watches his show knows that he is all about living life to the fullest and enjoying every day.” Massry said the seven-year-old brand approached Sorrentino because they thought his creativity and style would be a perfect fit for their street wear brand. The clothes will be available online at DilligafUSA.com and in retail stores nationwide around the time of the July 29 launch of the second season of “Jersey Shore.” Would you wear clothes designed by the Situation?
