Cell phone video from the confrontation at Maywood Academy High School shows the teacher and the student exchanging blows during band class after what appears to be the student confronting and provoking the teacher. CBS Los Angeles obtained the below video. Many people in the community had mixed emotions on the situations with some parents being outraged at the teacher’s actions, while others acknowledged that the teacher did nothing wrong and defended himself. Mel B Ordered To Pay Stephen Belafonte $40K A Month The judge in Stephen Belafonte and Mel B’s divorce proceedings bought his sob story about being too broke to function, because he just granted his request for emergency spousal support. If you’ll recall, Stephen was asking Mel for around $18k a month to pay for housing, clothes, food, and his cell phone bill. Mel called that amount into serious question due to the fact that it seemed exorbitant and unnecessary. However, according to TMZ the judge granted him over two times that amount — at least for the time being — and actually did Mel a favor, since he could have told her to cough up $15k a month more, based on documents filed. So for now, Mel has to pay Stephen $40,000 a month to make sure that he stays fed and fly until their divorce settlement is final, on top of a one-time payment of $140,000 for his legal fees. SHEESH. You would think that with all Stephen allegedly put Mel through , and the fact that he’s just one man without custody of his children…the amount would be exponentially lower. Lena Dunham has taken a break from rage spiraling to craft a thoughtful statement regarding the controversy around some passages in her new book. Late last week, the website Truth Revolt cited a story in “Not That Kind of Girl” in which Dunham said she looked into her sister’s vagina when she was seven years old. The site laid into Dunham for this behavior, prompting an angry response from the creator of HBO’s Girls. Now, having a couple days to think about the controversy, Dunham has released a new statement to Time Magazine. “First and foremost, I do not condone any kind of abuse under any circumstances,” the actress/producer/writer says, adding: “Childhood sexual abuse is a life-shattering event for so many, and I have been vocal about the rights of survivors. If the situations described in my book have been painful or triggering for people to read, I am sorry, as that was never my intention. If you haven’t heard Killer Mike’s song “Burn,” it is exactly the kind of protest song everybody always says today’s young Hip-Hop fans need to hear more often. Not some general, rebel without a cause, rage against the machine type of joint. But a song that addresses what many people have been feeling in America over the last 3-4 years. Without inciting a riot or causing a conflict, the song asks that young people think about the situations that they’re in and ask the right people the right questions to improve those situations. The video for the song, which includes clips of friends and family protesting Oscar Grant’s death, as well as cameon appearances by several artists including Diddy, is just as poignant. And purposely so. “I wrote this song and presented this visual to validate the anger of the working and middle class in my country today,” Mike told BOSSIP. “It is my sincere hope that Americans, no matter their race, creed or color, will see this video as I intended: as a scream of truth too powerful institutions, corporate and government, that we are suffering and deserve better.” But for some reason, BET has made the decision to ban the song’s video… even though it’s premium cable sister station MTV Jams has had “Burn” in rotation for almost a week now.
