Bobby Shmurda Indicted As Suspected Narcotics Gang Leader Bobby Shmurda was taken into police custody yesterday on then-unspecified drug charges, spawning hilarious memes at his expens e. But now that the NYPD has released the details on his indictment, the matter may have just gotten very serious. Unfortunately, the Brooklyn rapper has spelled out some of the exact charges the NYPD is bringing against him — though he is still pleading not guilty. Via TMZ : Rapper Bobby Shmurda was a “driving force” in a gang that committed murders and other violent crimes … this according to NY prosecutors. Prosecutors from the NYC Special Narcotics Office just released their indictment, claiming more than 15 defendants committed a variety of crimes, including murder, attempted murder, assault and drug dealing. Bobby himself was charged with conspiracy to commit murder but not the murder itself and a few other weapon and drug charges. Bobby — who at one time called himself “Two Socks Bobby” — is charged with firing a gun at a group of people outside a barber shop. Prosecutors say “socks” is code for firearms. According to the indictment, members of the gang used other code words, including “suntan,” which means shooting someone. The complaint says Bobby confessed to a fellow gang member, “You know I suntan him and shot, do issues, you know what’s going on.” Prosecutors also say the ring dealt heavily in narcotics, with a pattern of violence that spread from Brooklyn to South Beach, Florida. The D.A. says the violence was so prevalent, it turned Brooklyn into a shooting gallery. Bobby pled not guilty to all charges Thursday in NYC. He’s being held on $2 million bail. Wow. Because… FLORIDA Woman Slaps Grandmother Over Facebook Friend Request A Clearwater, FL woman was recently arrested after authorities say she become so irate that her grandmother denied her Facebook friend request that she assaulted her. Wate.com reports: Clearwater resident Rachel Anne Hayes apparently puts a lot of stock in social media connections. Pinellas sheriff’s deputies claim that Hayes, age 27, repeatedly slapped her grandmother, age 72, multiple times in the face early Thursday morning for refusing to accept her friend request on Facebook. According to Hayes’ arrest affidavit, alcohol was a factor. Investigators say Hayes was at her grandmother’s residence early Thursday when an argument erupted over the Facebook request. Deputies arrested Hayes on a felony charge of domestic battery on an elderly person at 3:39 a.m. after determining Hayes slapped the victim multiple times on the side of the face. Pinellas jail records show that Hayes has three prior arrests for DUI, violation of probation for DUI, and disorderly conduct (urinating). Hayes is currently in the Pinellas County Jail without bond. SMH…oh those crazy Floridians.
This is just awkward… Ashanti Testifies Against Stalker In NY Court The bizarre saga of Ashanti’s stalker trial continued in an NYC courtroom on Wednesday, this time with the singer herself taking the stand to tell her own side of the story…directly to her alleged stalker, as the accused is defending himself . Via CBSnews : Ashanti says she was “disgusted” and “absolutely scared” when she learned in July 2013 that a fan who had been convicted of stalking her had since been tweeting her X-rated messages and posed for a photo with her sister. The Grammy-winning R&B singer testified Tuesday at Devar Hurd’s trial in Manhattan. She said she was at a birthday dinner for her mother when another fan pointed out via Twitter that Hurd was the man in a photo with her sister from a 2012 event. The Long Island-born star then realized that Hurd was behind Twitter accounts that had sent her about 700 explicit, unwanted messages over a year. Hurd is acting as his own attorney, and upon cross-examining her, he confronted her about what he considered some of his sexiest tweets, messages that Ashanti described as “disturbing.” The defendant read aloud in the courtroom a vast selection of the tweets, asking the singer, “Did your read that one?” Hurd was convicted in 2009 of stalking and served about two years in jail. He argued that if his tweets were not welcomed, the “Foolish” singer could have blocked him on the social media site. He is charged with stalking and aggravated harassment. Prosecutors allege that once Hurd got out of jail in 2011, he started harassing Ashanti again, beginning with phone calls to Tina Douglas, the singer’s mother and manager, WCBS 880’s Irene Cornell reported. Douglas, testified Tuesday that “it made me sick” when she learned Hurd was back to his old tricks. The mother’s emotional testimony left Hurd unmoved, as he began his cross-examination by asking her, “How we doing, T? Everything OK?” Assistant District Attorney Kathryn Werner told jurors in opening arguments Monday that Hurd was unfazed by his earlier conviction, jail time and the protection order. Evidence in the latest trial will include telephone calls from Rikers Island, Cornell reported. Man, he called her FROM Rikers?? The thirst doesn’t get much realer…
