Source: Jeffrey Mayer / Getty via MadameNoire No, hell has not frozen over, but it seems a miracle has happened — or better yet, maturity. Singers Brandy and Monica are going on tour together, along with a list of other popular Black female performers, as part of Live Nation Urban’s new “Femme It Forward” concert series. According to Variety , the series will be full of all-female live performances, panels, comedy shows and more, and a portion of proceeds are going to be given to organizations who focus on the advancement of women. Stars featured, aside from Brandy and Monica, include Cardi B, Teyana Taylor, Jill Scott, City Girls, Ashanti, Mya, Keri Hilson, Faith Evans, Jorja Smith, Amerie and more. So far, confirmed shows are going from April through October, but more will likely be added. View this post on Instagram Introducing Femme It Forward! They are the headliners for concerts featuring Mya, Keri Hilson, Lil Mo, Amerie and Ashanti. It’s about to be the late ’90s and early ’00s all over again. But hopefully that won’t include the drama that came with that time for Brandy and Monica. Both women have had their issues in the past, including getting in an actual physical altercation back in ’98. They were able to overcome them for a time, citing their children as reasons to bury the hatchet. However, that mea culpa fell apart after talks about doing some shows, promoting their second collaborative effort, the single “It All Belongs To Me,” didn’t come to fruition. “I just honestly think Monica and I are in a different place with our music,” Brandy said in 2012 about why touring together had fallen through. “And my vibe is a little different this time around so I don’t know. I definitely feel like the fans would want a tour from us, but I don’t know, I just feel like I’m being pulled in a different direction. I’m definitely still open to it, but right now I’m looking in a different way right now for me.” Sign Up For Our Newsletter!  Close Thank you for subscribing! There were odd snapchat videos, social media comments, petty attempts to prove who was closer to Whitney Houston, and changing the lyrics to “The Boy Is Mine” to “The Song Is Mine.” However, Monica tried to stay above the drama, calling Brandy an “amazing person” while performing last summer. “I want to thank my sisters in music, they started the same time I did,” she said. “How many of y’all love and adore the late, great Aaliyah? She was special. One in a million for sure. And I want y’all to make some noise for the woman — this is the only Grammy I ever won in my whole life. Only time they called a Black girl from the country to the big stage was with this amazing person, Ms. Brandy Norwood. See the thing is, if we lift each other up, we can do a whole lot,” she said. “This is in honor of everyone lifting each other up. I’m going to do this song for my sisters tonight, for the one that’s absent and the one that’s still traveling around the world doing her thing.” And just earlier this year, Brandy seemed to have changed her tune, sharing a post of herself and Monica in “The Boy Is Mine” video with a positive caption during Black History Month: View this post on Instagram #BlackHistory #PowerfulWomen #TheBoyIsMine #BrandyAndMonica #Darkchild @monicabrown @rodneyjerkins @fredjerkins @bigshiz #Legacy A post shared by b r a n d y (@4everbrandy) on Feb 8, 2019 at 4:33am PST So it looks like the time has come for them to get over their issues and make music — and money! Monica is certainly excited about the chance to do a few shows on the same bill as her old friend. In an Instagram Story, she reposted a story from Necole Kane that said “It’s about time!!!” in reference to the tour news. Monica responded, “Yasss!” [ione_media_gallery src=”https://92q.com” id=”4036521″ overlay=”true”]

EXCLUSIVE: Kelly Rowland On The Power Of Loving Your ‘Crown And Glory’

Original post:

Source: Robin L. Marshall / Getty Images For Dove As Black women, many of us can remember that exact moment when we were painfully reminded that our hair was different. Mine happened at the predominately white elementary school I attended in the late 80s. All of us students were working on an art project with colored pencils we had to swap out for news ones at our teacher’s desk. I was really feeling myself that day because I had gotten my hair pressed over the weekend. It was laid, luxurious and smelling like fresh Pink Oil Lotion. I remember sitting at my desk, tapping those smooth pencils on the side my head as I pondered how to create my masterpiece. When I was done, I returned my pencils, feeling confident that my design was amazing. But a few minutes later that all changed when I heard someone loudly ask, “Why are these pencils so greasy?” My nemesis, who I will call Melissa, quickly told the class, “That’s because Kellee put them in her hair.” The room erupted in laughter. I was devastated. Having that straight hair made me feel like I had finally fit in with the Colleens and Beckies of the fourth grade. And yet in that instant, their cruelty had my facade crashing all the way down. It’s funny, because it’s been over a decade since the last time I’d even thought about that horrible day. But when I first heard Kelly Rowland’s recent song “Crown,” I was instantly brought back to that time. See, this collaboration with Dove is an empowering anthem aimed at young girls, reminding them that their hair is wonderful, glorious and amazing as is. And the video includes young girls from around the country who have been punished and even suspended for how they chose to rock their tresses. Seeing “Crown’s” images and hearing its lyrics made me wish I had something like this when I was younger, a singer to tell that ashamed little Black girl that her hair was “beautiful in every color. Long, short, straight or curly.” Now if I, a grown woman at 40-years-old, can be inspired by this, I can only imagine the impact it’s having on girls and young women who are coming into their own living in a world of the pressures of Instagram and Snapchat. This is why what Kelly is doing is so important. She is using her God-given gift to do her part to help shape the way girls see themselves and the world around them. And for little Black girls (and women), these messages are especially needed, given the complicated relationship we have with our hair and how often our bodies and hair are overpoliced at school, the workplace and beyond . In addition to the song, Kelly’s taking the message to the streets with community events aimed at bolstering girls’s self-esteem. Last month in downtown Los Angeles, Kelly co-hosted a Dove Self-Esteem Workshop with more than 30 girls from the Boys and Girls Club in attendance. The special workshop, which took place on Feb. 19, offered numerous confidence tips, an interactive conversation and ended with a runway show with the girls showing off the paper crowns they decorated. HelloBeautiful recently caught up with Kelly to discuss her personal story behind “Crown,” why representation matters and tips on overcoming our own hair issues.

Nick Cannon: I’d Rather My Daughter Be Like Danielle Bregoli Than Kylie Jenner Any Day!

Most people roll their eyes and make fun of Danielle Bregoli’s obnoxious and offensive behavior, but not Nick Cannon. Cannon surprisingly stuck up for the 15-year-old on the Wendy Williams Show which aired on February 6. “I’m not mad at this,” he said after viewing a preview of Danielle’s new Snapchat show,  Bringing Up Bhabie.  The audience audibly gasped with confusion. According to Hollywood Life , Nick actually defended her even though the audience was horrified at the ‘cash me outside’ girl’s words and actions. Nick explained himself by saying, “you guys may not agree with me, but I gotta keep it real. I’d rather my daughter go in this direction than go in the Kylie Jenner direction. That’s just me… this girl [Danielle] might have a bad mouth, she needs some guidance, she needs a whoopin.” “But at the same age,” Nick added, ” Kylie Jenner was getting plastic surgery .”  Called. out.  Even though Nick admits he isn’t impressed by Kylie Jenner’s tendencies, he thinks the two actually have a lot in common.  “She got a makeup line, [the other] got a makeup line … They’re both making money off of society’s exploitation of young girls and there are two different ways.”  But Nick confesses, “If I had to choose, I would want my daughter to get on out there and be a loudmouth, and talk-then I can say…it’s about discipline and respect…but when it gets to that other world that I can’t control and because social media’s controlling everything.”  He also made a joke saying he can “fix Bhad Bhabie with a ‘bhad belt,'” implying that Danielle needs a spanking, says Hollywood Life . US Weekly claps back claiming that a “bhad belt” wouldn’t “fix” anything and the only “plastic surgery” that Kylie has admitted to getting is lip injections.  However, Kylie is alleged to have had a breast augmentation. And butt implants … but, again none of this has been confirmed, per Hollywood Life .  Since Nick’s sub in for Wendy Williams , due to complications of her unfortunate Grave’s disease, he has been the king of shade!  Bringing all the drama by calling Ariana Grande a “little pop star who doesn’t know what she wants” and also challenging Liam Neeson to a fight after his absurd racial fantasy to kill a “black bastard” about 40 years ago. This isn’t even Kylie’s first time getting called out by Nick. Just a couple weeks ago he slammed the beauty mogul for dating Travis Scott and “procreating” with him.  While his fill-in has definitely been entertaining, to say the least, his time in Wendy’s chair is up.  Orange Is The New Black actor Jason Briggs will guest host the show on February 7. Keke Palmer will take over on February 8. Sherri Shepherd, Michael Rapaport , and Jerry O’Connell will also take over hosting duties until Wendy returns.   View Slideshow: 19 Reasons to Believe Kylie Jenner Got a Boob Job

The Bachelor Recap: Very Serious, Very Somber in Singapore

The Bachelor aired a few light-hearted moments on January 28, but a bulk of this unique episode was dedicated to a very serious subject matter. During her one-on-one date with Colton, Caelynn Miller-Keyes opened up about having been sexually assaulted in college. It was a raw and honest and upsetting conversation, though one that certainly captured the attention of all viewers. We admire Caelynn for telling her story in this manner. How did Colton react? What else transpired this week? And who was sent home? Scroll down for a recap of this special episode (and visit our section of The Bachelor spoilers if you wish to see what happens next)… 1. What Had We Seen Thus Far from Caelynn? Viewers had previously seen Caelynn feud with Hannah B., a fellow beauty pageant contestant who the 2018 Miss North Carolina actually knew prior to The Bachelor. 2. But That Feud Was Not an Issue This Week Instead, Caelynn told Colton about what happened to her when she was a sophomore in college and attended a fraternity party in 2014 with three friends. 3. “Something Really Bad Happened” “They drugged our wine,” she told Underwood. “I woke up the next morning completely naked in my bed and had no memory of the night before. I had a small vision of a guy in my bed and I just had this pit in my stomach that something really bad happened last night. My girlfriend called and said three of us were all sexually assaulted.” 4. This is What Happened: Caelynn said her friend told her that after her two friends passed out in a bed at the party, two men allegedly had sex with them, in the same bed, while they were incapacitated. “The girlfriend who didn’t drink the wine called me and told me that not only did a guy come home and have sex with me, another guy — I was passed out on the couch from the drugs and he said, ‘Watch what I’m about to do’ with all his fraternity brothers around me and he lifted up my dress. They watched and laughed and took photos” and shared the photos on Snapchat.” 5. The Trauma Continued… “It was horrible It was absolutely horrible,” Miller-Keyes told Underwood. The next day, Caelynn reported the assault to the police — but when she first went to get a rape kit, she was turned away by the hospital — “which is illegal,” she added of being told she had to file the report first. By the time she arrived at the second hospital and spoke with police, the results ended up being inconclusive because too much time had passed. 6. One Student Was Expelled. The Others Got Away with It. “I was determined to get justice and seek justice,” said Caelynn on air. “It’s something that will always be a part of me. I struggled with the shame and guilt that I had felt. It’s the most difficult thing in the world. It’s so painful and it screws up every ounce of you.” View Slideshow

Thomas Markle Actually Comes to Defense of Famous Daughter

Thomas Markle has said many things about his daughter over the past several months. If you’re an avid celebrity gossip follower and/or a fan of The Royal Family, you’re likely aware that Thomas has slammed Meghan Markle as a phony. And as a spoiled brat. And as an ungrateful child. And as a total and complete ghoster who has abandoned the man who helped bring her into the world. But now Thomas has surprised many folks out there by referring to Meghan as something else entirely: A victim . It’s true: the rumored feud between Markle and her fellow Duchess, Kate Middleton, has reached such an epic level of publicity that even Thomas thinks the coverage has been unfair to his child. In a recent interview with The Sun, the Markle patriarch weighed in on the never-ending chatter of a rift between Meghan and Middleton, along with incessant talk of Meghan as a “difficult” boss. Indeed, numerous Royal staffers have resigned of late, with reports indicating that Markle’s attitude is to blame. “If there is any animosity between Meghan and Kate, they should put their differences aside,” Thomas told The Sun. He added: “I’m very upset by the criticism Meghan is getting. I don’t think she deserves it and I don’t think she is doing one third of the things she is being accused of doing.” Thomas, of course, is the one who has offered up one scathing critique after another of Meghan. He’s alleged on many occasions that he keeps trying to reach out to his daughter, but that she’s rebuffed these efforts ever since he chose NOT to attend the Royal Wedding in May. (Thomas made this decision due to heart problems; and also due to his role in a paparazzi photo scandal.) In November, however, The Sun wrote that Meghan left Kate “in tears over her demands for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress after a “stressful” fitting. And Thomas simply thinks this claim is BS. “I’m not buying that she made Kate cry,” Thomas told the newspaper in the new interview, expounding as follows: “First off, I think Kate is a stronger woman than that. I think Kate also knows she is in a stronger power position than Meghan is. “Kate’s the hero mother. I can’t see her being that weak. No woman is who pops out a kid then walks out of hospital the same day. I don’t think she’s afraid of anyone.” Kensington Palace rarely comments on rumors regarding the Royal Family. But a spokesperson did actually come out a few weeks ago and shot down this specific allegation. No matter the beef he personally has with Meghan, Thomas agrees that the Duchess of Sussex is getting a raw deal here. “I don’t believe that Meghan is trying to hurt her in any shape or form,” Thomas said to The Sun. “But at the moment I cannot call Meghan and say, ‘What is going on? How can I help you?’ I need to know what the hell is happening and why it is happening. I need to know why she is being bashed every day.” Meghan would probably like an answer to this question as well. All this said, Thomas is still angry that Meghan won’t talk to him. But he’s saved his harshest evaluation for her husband. He and Prince Harry reportedly got into an argument over the phone just under a year ago, after reports came out that Thomas sold photos to the press. It ended with Thomas hanging up on Harry. “I feel that he feels he is above everyone else and that he has a right to talk down to people,” Thomas told The Sun. “And I cannot accept that. It feels like arrogance.” View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: 19 Cruelest Things Her Own Family Has Said About the Duchess He concluded by saying there’s one simple way to get him to shut up. “If they ever want to speak to me, maybe I’ll quieten down a little bit. “But in the meantime I’m not going to become a monk in a monastery and take a vow of silence. The bottom line is that I’ve done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment. “The royals and Meghan can help end this nightmare by simply giving me a call.”

David Eason: Bird Box is Racist! Netflix is Trying to Control Your MIND!

So David Eason isn’t all there, is he? And we’re not being mean by saying that — it’s just the truth. The guy is very clearly unhinged these days, and as time goes on, he gets worse and worse. Normal people don’t get investigated by the Secret Service , OK? They just don’t. To recap everything real quick, David is losing his mind down on the swamp he shares with Jenelle Evans. In the past few months, Jenelle’s called 911 to claim that he assaulted her , he’s displayed a Confederate flag in several states across the continental U.S., and he seemingly threatened to kill the president. He’s shown off the many, many weapons he keeps in his home, including poison darts, and he’s made it clear that he’s not afraid to use any of those weapons on anyone who dares step foot on his property. He’s being sued for towing a handicapped man’s truck and damaging it , and also he played with a dead animal on Snapchat . 2018 really was not a great year for him. And although we’re only a few days into 2019, it looks like his reign of stupidity will continue. It turns out that he and Jenelle, along with the rest of the world, watched that new Netflix movie, Bird Box . You know, the one where Sandra Bullock has emotional problems and then some monsters come into being that make you kill yourself if you look at them. Lots of people have gotten lots of different messages from the movie — some people think it’s about God, others think it’s about mental illness. But David? Well, David thinks the movie is Netflix’s attempt at brainwashing you into thinking that white people are bad. “Bird Box?” he wrote on Facebook. “You mean a bunch of crazy white people and two flawless black guys?” “Its mind control, they want u to hate the white man!” It’s sort of painful how dumb that is, isn’t it? Like he actually believes that because a movie has two likable characters played by black actors, the movie is an attempt to make everyone “hate the white man.” It’s just insane, and luckily, many people who commented on his post thought the same. “Omg the film had nothing what so ever to do with race c’mon dude,” one person told him. Another broke the news that “Reviewing movies may not be the gig for you. Just keep moving, sir.” One particularly exasperated follower of his wrote “Oh my God I can’t I’m so done with this f-cking racist motherf-cker.” But David was prepared to defend his theory. When someone asked him if he was racist, he replied with “Umm no, the movie is racist in case you didnt read my post.” He asked another confused commenter “How do you not see that every white man is the bad guy in this movie?” We’d argue that “the bad guy” in the movie is the monsters that make people kill themselves, but some not-so-nice characters were white dudes, sure. Because movies have characters, and characters are played by actors, and actors have races, and sometimes a person of a certain race plays a certain role without their race having anything at all to do with anything. A crazy notion, huh? But it’s true! Bad guys in movies are played by all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds, and the vast majority of the time, it’s not because the people making the movie are trying to control your mind. Just read a book or find a hobby or something , David. This is just too much. View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans: My Husband Is NOT Trying to Get Me Fired!
