It’s more of a sure thing than Lindsay Lohan’s next arrest : Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will return to TLC for a second season. That’s what happens when you rate higher than the Republication National Convention . According to The Hollywood Reporter , however, the family at the center of this ridiculous smash hit won’t come cheap: the Thompsons are negotiating with the network for a sizable raise. With Honey Boo Boo’s 17-year old sister having recently given birth, expanding the show’s cast for next year, sources say the Thompsons are seeking $10,000 per episode. Here Comes Honey Boo – which is a spinoff of Toddlers & Tiaras – will air its Season 1 finale on Wednesday, September 26.
Lindsay Lohan’s hit-and-run accuser says she reeked of booze when she love tapped him with her car and was popped for a hit-and-run earlier this morning. The star is telling friends she had no idea she hit anybody and wasn’t drunk in the least, and had no idea anything was going on until the cops arrested her. Pretty much par for the course when you’re dealing with her. The short story: A minor traffic incident in NYC ended with Lindsay Lohan arrested and charged with a hit-and-run on a pedestrian shortly after midnight. Alleged victim Jose Rodriguez, a chef in NYC, spoke with the NY Daily News following the crash, saying LiLo was slurring words and “smelled like alcohol real bad.” Police say they don’t believe LiLo was drunk at the time of the arrest outside the Dream Hotel, however they acknowledge that LL did not take a breathalyzer test. Rodriguez said he’d just left work at Bottega restaurant when all of the sudden “[I] saw this car come real quick and hit me. … I was in so much pain, I fell to the side.” He claims he was taken to Bellevue Hospital and treated for torn tendons, with doctors giving him morphine to deal with the pain. Anyone out there buying this? Lindsay’s not, and hotel surveillance video may back her up. The footage shows the entire incident, starting with Linds driving into the hotel, down a ramp, and alleged victim walking in the pedestrian path she had to cross. Her car was traveling at a very slow speed and it’s unclear if she even made contact with him, though one police detective felt Lindsay’s car “grazed” his leg. Once Lindsay cleared the area and proceeded down a ramp, the video shows the alleged victim sprinting after her … supporting his claim that Lohan tagged him. At the same time, this doesn’t bolster his own account that he hit the deck and suffered torn tendons. It does not appear he confronted the star at the hotel. When Lindsay got out of the car, she didn’t seem flustered at all. In addition, sources say she was at a Slash concert prior to this, and was not drinking there. Lohan was backstage watching Slash and there was no booze served, since the rocker doesn’t drink. She left there at 11:30 and (allegedly) hit the guy at 12:12. That gives Lindsay 42 minutes to leave the show and go a mile and a half in NYC traffic … not exactly time for her to go out, get sloshed, then get in the car. Basically, it’s unclear if Lindsay hit the guy or what consequences she might face if she did, but it looks like he’s lying or at least exaggerating what went down. Why she can’t just get a driver is an open question, though. Some people should just not be behind the wheel of a car. How many times can this happen?!?
Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada’s marriage is over, officially. Already. They signed divorce papers and that was that. The married in a lavish ceremony July 4. This year. A Florida judge signed the couple’s papers early this morning. Per Ocho’s attorney Adam Swickle, the hearing was “very quick” and “procedural.” It only lasted “3-5 minutes” and neither Chad nor Evelyn Lozada were present. While she filed for divorce in August after Johnson was arrested for allegedly assaulting her, it took the NFL star a month to give in and file for divorce himself . Their nuptials were chronicled in the VH1 reality show Ev and Ocho , which was axed before it even aired in the aftermath of Johnson’s domestic violence arrest . Lozado began divorce proceedings just two days after the incident, to which he’s pleaded not guilty. Johnson, contrarily, got a big tattoo of Ev’s face. Her face . Neither has commented on the divorce, but Chad’s back doing what he does best – posting pics of himself on Twitter – and Lozada took to the social network as well. “Oh what a GREAT morning!!!” she wrote. Sums it up right there.
Aww po’ thang… Social Worker Claims Reporting Mariah Carey’s “Drinking” Got Her Fired After learning that a celebrity mom breastfed her premature twins while drinking alcohol and taking medication, a social worker cried foul and lost her job, she claims in court. Believing that the conduct amounted to child abuse, Mela Ferrer says she reported the celebrity to the Department of Child and Family Services on May 10, 2011. That same week, celebrity Nick Cannon told journalist Piers Morgan that he and Mariah Carey had just been visited by the department based on allegations that there was “some drinking and drugs and all that going on while in the hospital.” The department reportedly determined quickly that there was no merit to the allegations concerning Carey’s twins, who were born prematurely at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center on April 30, 2011. But Ferrer says the hospital was worried that her duty-bound report would deter other celebrities from using their facilities. They urged Ferrer to “cover it up to protect the image of the celebrity mother,” according to the complaint. Neither Carey, Cannon nor their twins are named in the complaint, which refers only to a “well known celebrity.” Ferrer’s lawyer David Olan said he could neither confirm nor deny the identity of the unnamed star. As entertainment news outlets covered the investigation into Carey last year, the couple said Carey drank Guinness because hospital staff said it would promote lactating. But Ferrer, who was working there on temporary assignment, says “that she was a mandated reporter and was obligated to report the matter to DCFS.” “Some (sic) the medications the celebrity mother was taking were not recommended and/or were contraindicated for use by nursing mothers and/or in combination with alcohol,” the complaint states. Ferrer says one of her supervisors at the hospital, Marcia Colone, reprimanded her on May 11 for filing the report before consulting with the social work supervisor, Josephine Kaplan. On May 12, two days after Ferrer filed the report, Kaplan called the 68-year-old Ferrer into her office and fired her. Ferrer says she later learned that she had been let go under the pretense of not following “protocol.” But the hospital never had set rules or procedures for filing complaints to the department, and it was only interested in protecting its celebrity clientele, according to the complaint. Phoebe Price may be the devil…she may be all that is wrong with America…you know some bitch who inherited a ton of money from her daddy and ran to Hollywood with it to live the celebrity life, pay the paparazzi to follow her, end up on blogs and feel fulfilled as a person, but really that’s far more interesting to me, than seeing these other spoiled brat cunts, obssessed with their social circles and social clubs, with their garden parties and adulturous Soap Opera lives, that end with mental institutions, cocaine overdoses, and young boy toys taken them for all they are worth…because dreams of Hollywood and getting on blogs shows serious insecurities and attention seeking well into her 50s that make her fun to laugh at. Seriously, this bitch could be anywhere but this is what she chooses….weird. I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO POST THESE BIKINI PICS SO TO SEE THEM: FOLLOW THIS LINK
Clint Eastwood has starred in and/or directed some of the smartest, most thought-provoking movies I’ve seen in the last 10 years. And that’s making it very hard for me to get my head around his trite, addled performance at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night. I’m not bitching about Eastwood’s politics. I’m pretty certain that I don’t share his ideology, but I can’t help but respect someone who’s not afraid to be politically unpopular in largely liberal Hollywood. I only wish Eastwood’s courage and convictions translated to a more articulate speech and an appearance that didn’t make him look like a GOP pawn. For one thing, what possessed him to let the RNC appropriate the silhouette of his High Plains Drifter character for Mitt Romney’s coronation? The Stranger, as that character was billed in the movie’s credits, ran silent but deep — a far cry from Romney who runs silent and empty. Then there was Eastwood’s assertion in his speech that there are “a lot of conservative people” and moderates in Hollywood, but that they play their cards “close to the vest.” They must because the filmmaker could only name one famous fellow conservative: Jon Voight . That Eastwood followed Voight’s name with the statement: “These are all people that are like-minded,” made me wonder if he needed to up his Centrum Silver dosage. Eastwood, 82, also shot himself in the foot (with a .44 Magnum) when he derisively told the Tampa convention crowd that he wept during Obama’s inauguration. “I haven’t cried that hard since I found out that there’s 23 million unemployed people in this country,” said Eastwood, ploughing past the faulty construction of that sentence and adding: “That is a disgrace, a national disgrace.” Maybe he believes that, but, Eastwood, who made a career out of playing characters, such as Harry Callahan, who ferreted out the ugly truth, didn’t even acknowledge that the unemployment rate may have something to do with the financial meltdown that took place in 2008 under Republican President George W. Bush’s watch. Instead, he blithely trotted out a few more facile statements about how bad things are under the Obama administration before closing with his old Dirty Harry catchphrase, “Make My Day.” Like many of the lines that preceded it, the remark was trite and half-baked — a far cry from such thoughtful, moving films as Hereafter , Gran Torino and Million Dollar Baby that have made Eastwood such an original and powerful filmmaker. Clint, you didn’t make my day. You ruined my night. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
Clint Eastwood made Twitter’s Day — or at least its night. The veteran actor and filmmaker’s bizarre, aimless speech at the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Thursday night — to a chair that purportedly contained an invisible President Obama — brought out plenty of celebrity tweeters on the social media site. As of Friday morning “Eastwood” was still trending intermittently on the Twitter, and a number of actors and filmmakers’ comments were among the reactions to the Unforgiven actor’s speech. Among them was Magic Mike actress Olivia Munn who tweeted: “Clint Eastwood was talking to an empty chair at the RNC…No, that’s not the set-up to a joke. Its not even a joke.” This Is 40 filmmaker Judd Apatow had fun with the subject on a more oblique level. “Clint used to be Every Which ‘But’Loose . Tonight he got loose,” Apatow tweeted. The truncated film title was a reference to Eastwood’s 1978 buddy picture with an orangutan, Every Which Way But Loose, which seemed to mystify Apatow: “How does that title refer to a relationship with orangutans?” He wrote. “Really. How?” Shaun of the Dead filmmaker Simon Pegg weighed in from the UK, tweeting: “Woken up to excited chatter in the US. Apparently Clint Eastwood had an argument with an empty chair regarding its political standpoint.” Star Trek actor George Takei also weighed in tweeting: Clint Eastwood’s RNC speech was to imaginary Obama in an empty chair. I’m drafting a DNC speech to imaginary Romney in an empty factory.” Nice. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
Chad needs disconnected WiFi and some seats Via Radaronline : Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson ‘s addiction to Twitter led to the downfall of his NFL career, and now RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting that his sleazy habits on the social networking site doomed his marriage to Evelyn Lozada before she had even walked down the aisle. “He is constantly scouring Twitter flirting with women, and if he sees someone he likes he has them direct message their number to him so they can meet up in person,” a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com. The disgraced former NFL star has been carrying out a number of illicit affairs with several women for the past year, said the insider, during which time he took them to his favorite bars, brazenly tweeted with them and even let one girlfriend drive the Smart Car that Basketball Wives star Lozada bought him! Chad is just looking for love wherever he can find it, especially now in his darkest hour. As evidenced by his latest tweet, even the gaming world has stopped showing him love: Do you feel bad for Ochostinko? Twitter
Don’t tell David Koepp that scandal is good for box office. The screenwriter ( Jurassic Park , Indiana Jones: The Return of a Legend ) and director of this week’s Premium Rush told Movieline that speculation that the media scandal involving Kristen Stewart, her Twilight co-star and reported off-screen beau Robert Pattinson and her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is somehow good for business is “a cynical response” to the situation. “The people involved in any kind of scandal like that might want to respond, Who gives a shit? I didn’t say you could eat my head . You know?” Koepp told me. John Kamps, his writing partner on Premium Rush, agreed: “I think historically scandal has never done well for movies.” (Movieline will post an interview with both regarding their new film on Friday.) When I asked Koepp what he made of the media frenzy surrounding Stewart, Sanders and Pattinson, he replied: “I think it was sad for all involved.” Koepp was hired by Universal to write a script to Snow White and the Huntsman but explained that he departed the project on friendly terms because the producers wanted to pursue a different direction. “I felt like there was a good path with her, but they wanted to explore a different thing I had no ideas for,” said Koepp, who told me he couldn’t picture SWATH 2 without Stewart and, therefore, “couldn’t follow through.” Koepp observed that the proliferation of social media has made it difficult for just about anyone, not just Twilight cast members, to maintain privacy. “In the past — in the long past now — actors were able to keep their private lives much more separate,” the filmmaker said. “Now, no one really has a private life. I don’t think it’s just actors. I have teenage sons and they’re of the social media generation. That sort of living out loud is just weird to me. “I can’t understand why you would want so much of yourself revealed to just anyone, because it is inevitably — inevitably — a target of derision. It’s impersonal, but hurtful,” he said. “You see people really get hurt by Facebook attacks. Particularly in the junior high sort of level.” Noting that “Hollywood kind of is junior high,” albeit with more money and drugs, Koepp added: “There’s a lot of pain out there for people who are exposed. I feel very bad for actors in that regard. I think it’s a suckie part of the job and, when people say, Well, you asked for it — no they didn’t. “They asked for a bunch of other stuff and were willing to make a bunch of other sacrifices,” he said. “Just because you’re in the public eye doesn’t mean that you agree that there will be a complete abrogation of decency.” Nell Alk is an arts and entertainment writer and reporter based in New York City.
