Although it pains him, actor chooses between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to take home the Golden Popcorn. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News Having a hard time trying to figure out who you’d like to win at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? “Breaking Dawn” star Jackson Rathbone is weighing in on his picks for Sunday’s big show, and he’s sticking with his Cullen brother Robert Pattinson to win it all. Rathbone is even staunchly Team Edward when it comes to Best Kiss, in which Kristen Stewart is up for getting it on with Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. “How do you decide which is the better kiss: Kris’ kiss with Rob or Kris’ kiss with [Lautner’s] Jacob? Taylor or Rob I guess is what it breaks down to,” he told MTV News earlier this week. “I’m gonna have to side with my brother and go with Rob there.” Rathbone even dove into why Bella and Edward’s kiss really resonated with him. “What is it about that kiss?” he pondered. “You know, to me, it was … a long time coming [and] that understanding between two lovers, and I think there’s a lot of pent-up sexual aggression there, being young and a vampire.” Not only does Rathbone have to pick between Pattinson and Lautner for Best Kiss; the pair are also splitting votes for Best Male Performance, going up against Daniel Radcliffe (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1”), Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) and Zac Efron (“Charlie St. Cloud”). Of course, those three guys don’t even count for Rathbone — it’s all about his “Eclipse” buds. “Best Male Performance? Rob or Taylor, once again this boils down to [them],” he said. “I love both guys … but I’m gonna have to once again side with my family and go Robert Pattinson.” Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards ? Band’s first song since the departure of Josh and Zac Farro seems to address breakup. By James Montgomery Paramore Photo: Jordan Strauss/ Getty Images “You” can be a worrisome word. A weighty one. By its very definition — “the one or ones being addressed” — it is up for interpretation, and when it’s used in a song, things get even more muddy. Does “you” refer to the listener or the public at large? Does it take the place of the subject of the lyric, someone who has wronged, inspired, doubted, betrayed the writer? Or does “you” even have to be a person? Couldn’t someone “want” or “love” a refreshing beverage or an old car or, you know, drugs? Shoot, now that we’re on the subject, maybe we’re never supposed to figure out who or what “you” is referring to (the classic example, of course, being Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” which is apparently about Warren Beatty … or David Geffen … or David Bowie, depending on whom you ask). I only bring this up because in Paramore’s brand-new song “Monster,” which premiered Friday on the band’s official
Jackson Rathbone picks up his guitar and plucks through lines from Justin Timberlake, Emma Stone and more. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News If this whole “Twilight” thing doesn’t work out, Jackson Rathbone could have a great career translating movie dialogue into catchy little jingles for big awards shows. What better way to introduce a new category at the MTV Movie Awards than with song? And who better to turn one of the categories into a hummable tune than the multitalented Rathbone? When the 26-year-old actor isn’t occupied with all the thrilling engagements and obligations involved with being part of the massive “Twilight” franchise, he can be found rocking with his band 100 Monkeys . The man widely known as Jasper Hale in “The Twilight Saga” is a multi-instrumentalist capable of shredding on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, mandolins, trumpets and harmonicas. During a break from shooting a new movie called “Live at the Foxes Den,” in which he plays a guy who quits a major law firm to become a singer, Rathbone was kind enough to strap on an instrument and put all the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Best Line from a Movie nominees to song. Watch as Rathbone sings (and strums along with) some of the most memorable dialogue of the past year from blockbusters and Oscar contenders, including lines from Jessie Eisenberg in “The Social Network”; Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield in “The Social Network”; Tom Hardy in “Inception”; Amanda Bynes and Emma Stone in “Easy A”; and little Alexys Nycole Sanchez in “Grown Ups.” Check out the video and then be sure to vote for your favorite line . LeAnn Rimes is a married woman once again. The country singer married actor Eddie Cibrian last night in a private, very un-hyped ceremony, but she confirmed the joyous news on Twitter afterward. “Eddie and I are overwhelmed by the amount of lovely well wishes. We are blessed and … I’m Mrs. Cibrian!!!!!” Rimes wrote on the social networking site. Rimes, 28, wore a Reem Acra gown as she and Cibrian, 37, exchanged personalized vows in a small, private affair Friday in front of about 40 guests. Eddie’s sons Mason, 7, and Jake, 4, from his previous marriage to Brandi Glanville – who recently called a truce with former rival LeAnn – were on hand. “So wonderful to wake up as husband and wife. Love to all of you,” she continued: Just in case anyone missed her Tweet, Rimes also updated her bio on the site … Where LeAnn Rimes’ description used to read, “Fiancee, Friend, Daughter, Caretaker To Everyone I Love Dearly, Incredibly Happy Woman….oh yeah, and I do this little thing called music and film too,” it now reads the following: “WIFE, Bonus Mom, Friend, Daughter, Caretaker To Everyone I Love Dearly, Incredibly Happy Woman… oh yeah, and I do this little thing called music and film.” Subtle, but life-changing status change. Congratulations to the couple. We know they’ve been through a lot of upheaval, with their affair, respective divorces and courtship playing out in the public eye, but here’s to a new, positive chapter and life of happiness for all involved.
Despite losing their appeal , Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are STILL going after Mark Zuckerberg, saying he and Facebook ruthlessly defrauded them. The Winkelevoss twins are not giving up on their claims against Zuckerberg and the social networking site, which they claim was there idea originally. They point to two damning IMs as proof that Zuck f*%ked them. Zuckerberg and Facebook settled with the genetic freaks for $65 million, but they’ve been trying to undo the deal , on grounds of fraud, to obtain more. The Winklevii want a federal appellate court to reexamine their settlement with Facebook, acknowledge that the IMs are proof of fraud and nullify it. Tyler and Cameron claim Facebook intentionally withheld messages sent by Mark saying, “Yeah, I’m going to f**k them … probably in the [ear].” In another IM, Zuckerberg allegedly told a friend: “But [the twins] made a mistake haha. They asked me to make it for them. So I’m like delaying it so it won’t be ready until after the facebook comes out.” Maybe The Social Network was more accurate than we thought …
Depression. It seems like every Monday morning I get a new bout of it, with recurring symptoms. Every morning my alarm goes off until Friday afternoon at about 6pm when suddenly, I’m good as new, until Monday morning comes round again that is, and I’m back feeling the blues for another week. Everyone gets down occasionally, sometimes you have a good reason, other times you’re down for reasons unbeknownst even to yourself, but you’re still down. And then we all moan and bitch about being depressed until we snap out of our mood and carry on life as normal. Because everyone, at some time, feels like this, people brush off when someone is actually suffering from depression like it’s no big deal. People tell them to snap out of it, toughen up, get up out of bed and move on. The fact that depression is a real psychological illness which needs actual care seems to elude a lot of people, because “depression” is just something that everyone feels on occasion. If you let it get the better of you, then it’s a sign of emotional weakness, not a disease. But the facts are that depression is a serious disease. In fact, “ depression is one of the most common health conditions in the world ,” which, if left untreated, can seriously alter the sufferer’s quality of life. Depression has even been found to be more damaging to your long-term health and well-being than chronic illnesses such as arthritis and diabetes. Therefore, our preconceived stereotypes of what is a “depression sufferer” need to be reassessed – and pronto. Lasonda Wilkins-Hines, a licensed social worker specializing in depression, rationalizes that this stereotypical attitude of depression is seen with African-American’s especially because; “We come from a culture where we need to be strong as African-American women and it’s been passed down for generations that you suck it up or you talk to the pastor .” Psychologist Dr. Yolanda Brooks agrees, stating; “Black women tend to present themselves to society as strong, resilient human beings… you can trace this dynamic back to slavery , when a woman had to pretend she was okay when she was actually suffering inside.” This social stigma is particularly relevant to African-Americans – of the nearly 20 million Americans who suffer from depression each year, African-American women are affected more than any other group! In 2009, the National Alliance on Mental Illness reported that only 12% of African-American women receive treatment for their depression, which, sadly, but perhaps tellingly, is the number one cause of suicides in this country. Reading the case this week of the mother, LaShanda Armstrong, who drove off a pier, killing herself along with three of her four children, it struck me how isolating depression can be. The psychologist’s and police officers who spoke of the tragedy claimed that none of the woman’s family or friends noticed any depressive symptoms, and she hadn’t said anything to them, but clearly there was something going on, as she could think of no other avenue out, but suicide. Relatives and friends of the woman have said she was a “ good mom…. she just needed a helping hand ,” but (at least from what has so far been reported), no one thought to seek professional help for her. Maybe because, they didn’t know what symptoms to look for. Dr. James Bolton , a Consultant Psychiatrist lists some common symptoms of depression to look out for in your loved ones, and urges people to seek help, for, “it can be helpful for people to talk about their problems and offload. It isn’t always easy to do but there’s a lot to be said for the ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ proverb.” 1. Physical changes Dr. Bolton believes that sudden shifts in sleep patterns are a strong physical symptom of depression. “Finding it difficult to get off to sleep or waking up during the night, or too early in the morning are all potential physical signs,” he says. Also take notice of other physical changes; most notably, when someone starts losing their appetite and losing weight, libido and an interest in sex. 2. Mood Swings In terms of personality change some people might be angrier than others and some might be more risk taking. However, as even a bad day at work, or a lot of traffic on the drive home can alter your mood, Dr. Bolton notes that mood changes may be only depressive symptoms when these changes are new. He says, “in terms of our personality we will all have a fuse of a certain length. So we will all get irritable under certain circumstances. But when someone is suffering from depression they find that their fuse is much shorter. They’ll fly off the handle at people quite close to them that they normally wouldn’t get angry with. Also things that they can normally tolerate and cope with will make them lose control.” 3. Fracturing relationships Dr. Bolton notes that people with depression find it difficult to recognize what is happening to themselves and thus, become difficult to live with, especially if their partner is trying to help them, for they don’t recognize the problem. They begin to put in less time with their friends and family, and become increasingly moody. If anyone you know looks like they are suffering from depressive symptoms, help them out. Don’t wait for another tragedy like LaShanda Armstrong and her children to occur before we acknowledge that depression is a serious illness. Despite their claims that Facebook did not provide an accurate valuation, a judge ruled that Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss must accept their $65 million settlement from the social networking behemoth and move on. SUCKS for them. A U.S. appeals court ruled that the settlement (depicted in The Social Network ) stands. The Winklevoss twins (seen here with the actor who portrayed them, Armie Hammer) claim Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for the site. Zuckerberg and Facebook denied this, but settled 2008. The Winklevii have since tried to secure more $$ by claiming that

Josh Pence, better known as the actor who was shafted in The Social Network when producers superimposed Armie Hammer’s visage on his, has been cast in The Dark Knight Rises . The actor will play a young Ra’s Al Ghul (Batman’s mentor-turned-enemy) in flashback scenes. Here’s to hoping that the actor gets, quite literally, the face time he deserves. [ THR ]
