It may be the job of Ellen DeGeneres to make people laugh on a daily basis, but the talk show host was sadly forced to turn serious on Thursday. For the saddest of reasons: Because her father passed away at the age of 92. Ellen broke this news to her viewers in a moving tribute to her dad, Elliott, which followed a long talk with Oprah Winfrey about the fatal mudslides in their home town. “In addition to what’s going on in Monetico, I lost my dad this week,” DeGeneres said, fighting back tears as she spoke. “He was 92 years old. He had a good, long life. And he lived his life exactly how he wanted. He was Christian science his entire life. He never had medicine his whole life. “He never went to a doctor. We never had a vaccination. We never had medicine growing up and he lived to be 92.” Continued the comedian: “He was very proud of me. He loved this show. He was a kind man, very accepting man. “There was not one bone of judgment in his body. He was very funny … Before he passed away I got to talk to him, so I got to say goodbye to him.” We don't know the exact cause of death in this case. But the man was 92 years old. As you can see immediately above and below, Ellen also paid tribute to her father on Twitter yesterday. “It wasn't unexpected,” Ellen added on Instagram. “I was able to say goodbye. When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios. He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. “When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.” Previously, Ellen has said the following to Winfrey: “So many times over the past 15 years, people have come up to me and say to me that when they're going through a tough time this show gets them through it. “Today, I need you because there's a lot going on in my life right now.” Our thoughts are with Ellen's family at this time. We're only five days into the new year, but 2018 has already seen a Duggar baby announcement and a whole slew of courship speculation. We now know that Jinger Duggar is expecting her first child , but that's certainly not the only way in which reality TV's largest family will be expanding in the months to come. Joy-Anna Duggar is also expecting, as is Joseph Duggar's new wife, Kendra Caldwell. And of course, several single Duggars are set to embark on courtship journeys of their own in the months to come. Here's a rundown of who might be next to leave the nest: 1. Jana Duggar The perennial fan favorite. Fans have been hoping for a courtship announcement from Jana for years now. And thanks to her increasingly close “friendship” with Caleb Williams, it seems 2018 will finally be her year. 2. John David Duggar This is another one that wouldn’t come as much of a surprise. In fact, it’s widely believed that John David is already involved in a secret courtship with a woman from Texas. No word on why he might be keeping things on the down-low. 3. The Pressure Is On! Well, after a long absence, Gabe Brown appears to be back on Instagram, folks. The real Gabe. And he has a new photo to prove it. This selfie was the last that we saw on social media of Alaskan Bush People star Gabe Brown. Posted back in August of 2017, it was followed by an absence of several months. To be fair, though, his hiatus didn’t come out of nowhere. In a series of now-deleted Instagram videos, Gabe suggested that he was considering stepping back from the internet while he battled a broken heart. “I might quit social media altogether the only friend I wanted to follow me in the first place I guess blocked me I do appreciate all the friends I’ve made trying to regain my best one I lost.” That sounds devastating. “But after FB it’s just not very fun anymore not good bey just see y’all later keep up the cool posts God bless you all have fun and laugh often your Instagram friend Gabe. Lots of love to everyone.” In the past, as in this photo, Gabe had made light of romantic misfortune. Or, perhaps, both. Gabe Brown shared this blurry selfie out of nowhere on January 2nd. He captioned his triumphant return to social media: “I’m back [grinning emoji] moohaha” (We think that the bit at the end was supposed to be a gregarious or even playfully sinister laugh, like muahaha or mwahaha , rather than sounding like the laughter of a nefarious cow) That’s great news! Happy New Year!” Considering that Rain had clarified that Gabe was going through some tough times when she warned of the imposter, this is good news. Good news for fans, sure, because they’re happy to get updates on Gabe’s well-being. But also good news, in that it may be a sign that Gabe’s emotional health is in a better place.
