The Bachelor Recap: Aboard the Crazy Train

ABC taught us a very valuable lesson on Episode 2 of The Bachelor Season 18. Or, rather, Victoria taught us the valuable lesson. Nice and sauced during a group photo shoot for Best Friends Animal Society, the aspiring wife had a few too many and drunkenly said of the show’s sizzling star: “This is how I am sober. If Juan Pablo is mine, I’m going to straddle him everyday. ‘Cause life is about straddling. People and things.” Watch The Bachelor Season 2 Episode 18 Online Oh, but Victoria’s antics didn’t end there: she locked herself in a bathroom and demanded to leave the series, forcing Juan Pablo to ask the other women to make sure she made it home safely. The next day, Victoria admitted she “set off the crazy train” and that she likely drank too much. We say she didn’t drink enough ! Who knows what else would have gone down?!? She also said at one point that she gave Juan Pablo “the hymen maneuver.” Gosh, Victoria’s the best. Sadly, she didn’t even make it to the cocktail party, as Juan Pablo sent her pacing at the conclusion of their visit. Amy, the reporters, and Chantel, an accountant, were also eliminated. The Hottest Bachelors of All-Time On the more encouraging front, it’s clear Juan Pablo is very interested in Nikki (the nurse). Another frontrunner seems to be Clare, who enjoyed the honor of the season’s first one-on-one date AND first kiss. Andi also played her cards well, expressing awkwardness as getting undressed and prompting Juan Pablo to make her feel better by doing so himself. Nice! Hot! Very hot, in fact! And, finally, we had Cassandra, who also swapped some spit with The Bachelor… in front of the other women, no less. What did you think of the second installment? Of Victoria’s behavior? Lauryn Hill To Narrate Documentary For Sundance Film Festival

Lauryn is finally getting back on her grind. Lauryn Hill To Narrate Documentary For Sundance Film Festival We’re glad she has a new gig with this documentary, but she needs to get back to making great music— that “Consumerism” track was horrible. According to Vibe: Lauryn Hill is lending her voice to The Sundance Film Festival. The singer/ rapper will narrate the documentary Concerning Violence for the event, which takes place between Jan. 16 to 26, by Swedish filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson, which focuses on the struggles faced during the African liberation during the 1960s and ’70s. Since being released from her three-month prison stint for tax evasion in October, the “Neurotic Society” singer has gotten right back to her music and being a voice for human rights. Along with her contribution to the Olsson’s visual narrative, Hill is set to headline at Amnesty International’s first Human Rights Concert since 1998 on Feb. 5 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, according to Rolling Stone. Hill is also said to be working on a new album, Letters From Exile, which will be released through her label Obverse Creation Music. Concerning Violence is set to have its first public screening at Sundance on Friday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Yarrow Hotel Theater as part of the World Documentary program. Lauryn trying to get those coins any way she can…she doesn’t want to owe Uncle Sam and end up in the slammer again.

The singer put an awww-inspiring video on her Instagram account last night, running footage of herself at four years old, chatting it up with a close friend. “Christmas 1993, on a very important phone call with Britany,” the singer captioned the cute video. Plus-Size Barbie Photos Spark Body Image Debate, Criticism

Plus-size models and modeling have gained a lot of traction in 2013, as they a purpose beyond marketing plus-size clothing to a growing market. They also provide women with a more diverse range of bodies to look up to, which potentially improves self-confidence, body image and social norms. So if we have plus-size models … should plus-size Barbies be next? That’s the question posed recently by Plus-Size-Modeling (dot) com on Facebook … The illustration of a plus-size Barbie doll actually comes from a contest on Worth1000.com, a site where artists compete in daily creative competitions. The image, created by artist bakalia, won a contest called “Feeding Time 9.” But when re- posted last week by Plus-Size-Modeling (dot) com, the depiction of Barbie with a double chin and a curvier physique sparked debate. Over 35,000 people have “liked” it, but many criticize it, asking whether society should be praising being overweight any more than being too skinny. Maria Kang has yet to weigh in … but we know where she stands. “No one is naturally fat for gods sake, that’s sending the wrong message to girls that it’s ok to look like this and be unhealthy…” said one commenter. Another noted, “Imo this is horrible. Maybe make her a little fuller, but in no way promote obesity. Triple chins?? Really?? Im a curvy girl, but come on this is ridiculous.” The debate mirrors one waged in the fashion world when Curvy Girl lingerie kicked off a campaign to share images of “regular” women in their underwear. Because several of those models were overweight, the campaign was criticized for allegedly encouraging unhealthy habits and promoting obesity. There were also those who wondered aloud where the “average” size bodies are. In other words, bodies that are neither “plus-size” nor a size 0. As one commenter noted beneath the Barbie image on Plus-Size-Modeling, “Wish there was an ‘average’ Barbie. Not skinny, not obese. Normal.” On that note, artist Nickolay Lamm recently created a 3-D model of an “average” Barbie-like doll, based on CDC estimates of an average 19-year-old. “If we criticize skinny models, we should at least be open to the possibility that Barbie may negatively influence young girls as well,” Lamm said. Sylvia Browne, a renowned psychic, leader in the paranormal world and best-selling author, passed away at the age of 77 in California on Wednesday. A believer in reincarnation as well as God, Browne conducted thousands of hypnotic regressions and trance sessions with people around the world. “I don’t know how I do it,” Browne once told CNN , “I’ve done it all my life.” She also appeared on Unsolved Mysteries, Loveline with Dr. Drew and The Montel Williams Show , on which she was a weekly guest for 17 years. “I, like so many of you, lost a friend today,” Williams said yesterday. “But, as has been for the last 20 years, she’ll always remain a part of me.” Browne first became aware of her psychic abilities at age 3, her bio says. It was a “very scary thing” for her when she realized as a youngster she could tell if someone was going to die, she told Larry King back in 2000. “The only thing, I think, that saved my sanity was that there are so many – well, we can track our lineage back to 300 years – of psychics,” she said. She strove to help “thousands of people gain control of their lives, live more happily, understand the meaning of life and to find God in their unique way.” She founded The Nirvana Foundation for Psychic Research in 1974, and went on to publish more than 50 books, 22 of which were best sellers. Browne also worked with the Society of Novus Spiritus organization, and created The Sylvia Browne Hypnosis Training Center to teach her hypnosis methods. Browne’s Facebook page includes a September 10 posting stating, “If you are afraid to die, you will not fully live.” Her final post, on October 27, reads: “My one prayer every morning that has carried me is, ‘Hi God, it’s me again.’ Her website does not give a cause, but does say that Browne died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California.

Oreos as Addictive as Cocaine, Study Finds

We all know Oreos are addictive, but a new study suggests that the cookies are as addicting as actual drugs … at least in the way the brain responds to them. The “pleasure center” of the brain, the nucleus accumbens, apparently gets just as activated in response to Oreos as it does to cocaine and morphine. Oreos: Addictive! That could certainly have some pretty major public health implications if Oreos were as damaging to one’s system as the aforementioned narcotics. They’re not, of course, and the study was only done in rats. However, the Connecticut College authors say it’s likely relevant to humans as well. It could explain, they say why people have such a hard time resisting eating an entire sleeve of the cookies after they’ve set out just to eat one. The study, to be presented at the Society for Neuroscience’s annual conference, also claims that rats, like humans, like to eat Oreo’s creamy center first. To test how the animals responded to Oreos vs. drugs, the team trained mice to navigate a maze. On one side, Oreos were provided. On the other? Rice cakes. As you’d guess, the rats were more likely to spend time on the Oreo side. Rats treated with morphine or cocaine rather than Oreos reacted similarly. They found that regardless of what “substance” the rats were offered (Oreos, coke, or morphine) they spent about the same time on the “drug” side. “Our research supports the theory that high-fat/high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” professor Joseph Schroeder said. “It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods,” he added, echoing a common refrain, “despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.” The research may thus bear some relevance to public health issues, namely the fact that high-calorie foods are often low-priced and highly addictive. And the fallout from poor eating behaviors can be as dramatic as that from drugs, said the authors, even if the risk of death from one usage is lower.

Cotdamn . Saudi Men Get 2,000 Lashes And Ten Years In Prison For Nekked Dance They giving out lashes for dancing nekked? Miley Cyrus wouldn’t last a day in that country. According to The NY Daily News Four men, two of them identified as security officials, have been convicted of dancing ‘nekked’ in public and ordered to spend up to 10 years behind bars and receive as many as 2,000 lashes, according to several local reports. The quartet were captured on video after busting loose on a car roof in the ultra-conservative province of Qassim. They were sentenced last week. One received 10 years in prison and 2,000 lashes. Another got seven years and 1,200 lashes. The other two were ordered to serve three years and to receive 500 lashes each. They were charged with “dancing on a vehicle in public and posting a video online, encouraging vice, defying norms of the society and violating public morals,” according to the Arabic-language Al Sharq web site. But Agence France-Press reported that the video, originally posted on YouTube, didn’t appear to show the men undressed. On Monday, the video apparently had been removed. Their azzes are going to be super sore.

Westboro Baptist Church to Protest "Whore" Taylor Swift at Kansas City Concert

Taylor Swift is beloved by millions, but to the Westboro Baptist Church, this is emblematic of the fact that our society is going straight to … you know. “This girl is a whore,” Ben Phelps, the leader of group said in announcing the WBC’s plan to protest her August 3 concert in Kansas City, Missouri. The WBC called Taylor “the whorish face of doomed America” in a press release, and Phelps explains, “She’s widely loved. She’s got huge approval ratings.” “What she’s famous for is hopping around from one bed from another. This girl is a whore. Who else is gonna say that if it’s not the church of the Lord Jesus?” Imagine if this guy saw Miley Cyrus Twerking . When Taylor Swift stops in Kansas City, not far from Westboro Baptist Church’s Topeka, Ks., headquarters, they’re going to let her know how they feel. “She’s coming into our backyard,” Phelps said. So we’re gonna go preach to her. Taylor tries to pretend that she’s a good Christian. But she’s not. “When she has a huge platform like that, a huge influence on young women, she’s got a duty to tell about God’s standards. And she has absolutely failed.” Citing her “immodest, vulgar appearance” and “serial fornication,” Phelps wants her to “promote the standards of God instead of whoredom, fornication … that filthy lifestyle.” Immodest appearance? She has been showing off some curves lately (see above, who knew?!), but calling that vulgar may be a tiny bit of a stretch. All depends on your perspective, we suppose. And Phelps’ is that of disgust: “Taylor Swift uses talent God gave her to warble about fornication,” he says. “One simple tweet from her: ‘Stop fornicating ladies, and obey God’ would rock the house. But it would cost her millions she makes with her sin-coddling songs.” Until she changes her sinful ways , he says, expect backlash. How big of a backlash? Phelps says Taylor Swift can expect at least 15 people, but he insists he’s not worried about the turnout, but the principle. “It’s not about the numbers,” he says. “It’s about getting a message out.” “We’re concerned about putting the standard of God out there. Especially when you have a person like this who is inexplicably loved and revered.” “She’s a whore! I mean, come on.” The irony is that while Swift has dated a lot, she’s also rumored to be a chaste prude who is concerned about setting an example and does NOT fornicate much if at all. Are we right?
