The new 60-second teaser for The Expendables 2 isn’t quite as LOL -splosive as the poster we all saw a few weeks back, but it’s still pretty great in its own sort of testosterrific way. What’s its secret? Let’s try breaking the magic down by the numbers:
In Roman Polanski’s Carnage , two couples square off in a 4-way — or is it a 48-way? — skirmish involving parenting issues, class resentment, the self-centered nature of our society, and both sexual politics and the other kind. This is a drawing-room comedy set in what just may be one of the outer circles of hell: The well-appointed (but just shabby enough) Brooklyn apartment of a persnickety couple who advertise their liberal ideals perhaps more obviously than they practice them. These two insufferable individuals are meeting with a matched set of same, the perhaps better-heeled (and equally smug) parents of a boy who struck their son with a stick, knocking out a tooth or two in the process. By the time each of these mini-nightmare characters has had a swing at each of the others — and by the time one of them has vomited on a valuable art book — the permutations of animosity and indignation have multiplied into an algebraic equation of headachey proportions.
Gangsta Gibbs’ mixtapes earned him a deal with Young Jeezy and a spot on MTV News’ 2011 Hottest Breakthrough list — vote now! By Nadeska Alexis Freddie Gibbs Photo: Getty Images/ MTV News When Freddie Gibbs joined Sway on “RapFix Live” in September, the Gary, Indiana, native was firm in insisting that he would never stray from the deeply lyrical gangster rap that fans now expect from him. His recent deal with Young Jeezy ‘s CTE label bolstered his efforts and kept the spotlight on his releases this year, earning him a nomination for MTV News’ Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2011 . Despite a fizzled deal with Interscope Records in 2007, Gibbs (born Frederick Tipton) continued his rise to lyrical prominence by dropping popular mixtapes, including 2009’s The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs and Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik . The success of those two mixtapes landed him a spot on XXL ‘s 2010 Freshman cover, but that was only the beginning for Gangsta Gibbs. The 29-year-old rapper continued his manic music run, releasing the independent EP Str8 Killa No Filla via Decon Records in 2010, and in April he made his biggest career move thus far, inking a new deal with Young Jeezy’s CTE (Corporate Thugz Entertainment). Besides teaming up with the Snowman on singles like “Run DMC” and “Do It for You,” Gibbs put in some extra time in the lab, turning out his mixtape Cold Day in Hell in October. The project showcased his growth, with standout cuts including “Anything to Survive” and “Menace II Society” and a slew of guest features from Freeway, Jeezy, Juicy J and 2 Chainz. Major label or not, don’t expect Gibbs to soften the content of his material anytime soon. “I wanna be taboo. I want your parents to not want my music in your iPod,” Gibbs told MTV News. “I want your mom to be scared of what I’m talking about because it’s so real.” His fellow contenders for Hottest Breakthrough MC should probably be scared too. Hottest Breakthrough MCs was established by MTV News in 2010 as a fan-driven initiative that spotlights, celebrates and cultivates new talent. MTV News chose a pool of young rappers and urged fans to vote for their favorite. When it was all said and done, Wiz Khalifa emerged as the Hottest Breakthrough of last year. The competition was tough, but the Taylor Gang General beat out runner-up Nicki Minaj, ATL group Travis Porter, Diggy Simmons and J. Cole. This year, you can vote for Machine Gun Kelly (or your favorite up-and-comer) over at RapFix.MTV.com , and be sure to check back for daily updates and poll results. Each day, we’ll spotlight a new Hottest Breakthrough MC before we conclude on December 13 when the polls close at 11:59 p.m. ET. The 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC will be revealed during December 14’s “RapFix Live,” during which the winner will appear as our in-studio guest. There will also be a special announcement about MTV News’ upcoming Hottest MCs in the Game list and debate. To be considered a Hottest Breakthrough MC, an artist cannot have released a major-label full-length album. Finalists from 2010’s Hottest Breakthrough MCs poll will not be eligible for 2011 consideration, so unfortunately, Diggy Simmons and Travis Porter won’t be part of this conversation. Who do you think should be 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MC? Share your picks in the comments! Stick with MTV News as we profile the 2011 Hottest Breakthrough MCs before announcing the winner December 13 on “RapFix Live” — vote now! Congratulations are in order for lil Justin Dior Combs: Justin Combs, son of international music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, today announced that he has chosen to attend the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he will be awarded a full scholarship to play football at the Division I school. The younger Combs, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound cornerback from Iona Prep, chose the Bruins over offers from Wyoming, Virginia, and Illinois, among others. After hitting the 7v7 camp circuit with the “GoonSquad” All-American 7v7 team this past spring, he quickly started to generate a buzz and secured his first Division I scholarship offer back in April. The latest Bruin commit has also been selected to play in the inaugural Marine Semper Fi All-American Game held in Phoenix, AZ January 3rd, part of college football’s Fiesta Bowl weekend. Combs, who carries a 3.75 GPA and is the Head of the African American Society at his school, will enroll in UCLA this fall and will major in Business Finance. Combs said he felt the combination of academic excellence and winning tradition at UCLA made his decision clear. JUSTIN COMBS STATEMENT: “Today I am truly blessed and thankful to accept my scholarship and give my full commitment to UCLA. Playing division I football was a life long dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it. I am a living testament that with a strong relationship with God, family, and hard work dreams do come true.” SEAN COMBS STATEMENT: “As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life. This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.” Wonderful! Kudos to Justin for working hard, maintaining good grades, and getting that full ride to UCLA (not like he needs it though)…Puff should certainly be proud.
I hate posting commercials from companies for free. It just gets under my fucking skin because I know they are commercials and that I am doing what they want me to do in creating the viral video in the first place…but sometimes shit is too good and actually achieves what it is meant to achieve….and that usually happens when girls are in their bikinis… So the company is called JBS…the viral video is bitches in bikinis running around with each other in a semi-erotic way, pretending they make the men’s underwear, instead of being he asian babies with their small hands working long hours in disgusting working conditions for 10 cents, that actually make the underwear….and that time of blinder over my eyew works for me….espeically with such big titties…
This is amazing… Some drunk chick went to the Addington races in New Zealand, got all dolled up in her dress and Royal Wedding headwear, you know cuz the horse races are a high society affair….where people behave appropriately and drink modestly as to not get too wasted…as they wouldn’t want that to end up in the society pages….unless of course you are this girl, who got fucking wasted, then ran on the track, with intent to streak, you know to really make a name for herself amongst the sheep she shares her city with…… But she was too drunk….you know drunk enough to make this deicision but too drunk to go through with it…like a drunk driver trying to get home, but instead running over a kid playing in his yard…only with less death… See instead of flashing, she lost her balance and didn’t quite get past the tittes on the flash…all we got was panties she shouldn’t have been wearing…which is fine by me….even though I like seeing strange crazy drunk pussy….because what she’s doing pretty much defines my kind of girl…classy yet too drunk to stand…but not too drunk to give me access to pussy so that I don’t feel like a rapist as they snore….
Mother Monster taps her own mom, Cynthia Germanotta, in push to fight bullying and inspire young fans. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Credit KCSPresse / Splash News Lady Gaga has always made it her mission to empower her little monsters. On Wednesday (November 2), Mother Monster announced she’s launching the Born This Way Foundation, which aims to further inspire young people. The pop superstar is even getting some help from her very own Mother Monster, Cynthia Germanotta. “My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation,” Gaga said in a statement about the foundation, which takes its name from her hit single and album . “Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.” The foundation will work with a number of partners, including the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. According to the statement, the foundation will focus on “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change.” Gaga has been a leader in shedding a light on the issue of bullying. She met with President Obama at a fundraiser in September to talk about the bullying epidemic, after she was touched in particular by the suicide of bullied 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer . “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling,” she tweeted when news of the teen’s death broke in September. “I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She went on to post Rodemeyer’s “It Gets Better” video, urging that bullying “must become illegal. It is a hate crime.” Lady Gaga isn’t the only pop star using the public spotlight to give back. On Tuesday, Justin Bieber announced the creation of his Believe Charity Drive and noted that partial proceeds from the sale of his brand-new Under the Mistletoe album will be donated to charitable organizations. You can expect that the current round of stock market volatility is going to be tougher emotionally on a larger number of people than even 2008’s crash. You might also find it to be much tougher on your relationships with life and business partners, family and even friends. The reason is simple: unlike in 2008, more of us sense on a deeper psychic level that the system is actually broken. Our standard all-American faith that a quick fix might be possible has been shattered by the persistence of high unemployment and by the outrageous and unreal nature of politics in the U.S – to the degree that many people now suspect, and not surprisingly, that elections no longer make a difference. The most recent poll: 76% of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. The emerging sense that something fundamental has gone wrong – as in fact it has, with both parties beholden to the corporate interests that fund campaigns – has increased generalized anxiety and stress. Therapists and social workers confirm rising emotional and psychological issues among the populace. Most humans are not trained to deal with uncertainty, the way astronauts are trained, and so we tend to trigger into confusion, anxiety, anger and depression when the Big U shows up. Like any emotions, we can suppress them just so long before they find an outlet. One notable public outlet was Tea Party member public anger over Obamacare. One always reliable private outlet is our relationships , which tend to take poundings in times like this unless we give ourselves the training to manage them. What I call “obliteration fear” arises alongside economic uncertainty. People tend to get closer in their unconscious and in their imaginations to some picture of bleak fate. Most of us are ill-trained by the society and our family upbringings to deal creatively with this fear and uncertainty. Instead, we rely on coping mechanisms we developed in childhood to manage family stress or not getting our core emotional needs met. There are only six of these mechanisms: fight, flight, seek approval, control, manipulate, or sacrifice yourself to “fix” or enable someone else. We tend to have one or more of these coping mechanisms dominate our reactive behavior, although most of us rely on more than one in dealing with other people and with difficult situations. You can figure out which ones you most rely on. A problem with coping mechanisms is that they don’t fix the problem. In fact they aggravate the underlying emotions of fear, anger, sadness/despair and shock. And aggravated emotions find their outlet, very often against the person with whom you are in relationship. As a life coach who trains people to deal with these issues, I know there are healthy fixes that enrich a person’s entire life. There isn’t space here to share that training but I will explain one helpful relief practice called Soma Breathing. Instead of acting out, locate the emotional pain in your body. Focus on that part of your body and then simultaneously focus on directing your breath to that area. Don’t change your breathing pattern; instead, simply guide the breath to the pained area and feel it touching the area as a sweet kiss of soothing. As it leaves imagine it carrying away a small amount of the stress. Do this for a few minutes to warm up and then intuitively pick a soothing color and image to breathe in alongside the breath – or as colored breath. Continue until you feel the emotional outburst or deep pain moment has passed. Use as frequently and as long as needed. For additional guidance, you can check the Free Download on this website, jaylevin.com or relationshipcounselingtoday.com . There are also audios available covering training in critical areas of life success and relationships, including emotional and mind mastery. Beyond this, as a former political journalist and editor, I share the sensibility that something fundamental is amiss in America and I further share the analysis of MSNBC anchor Dylan Ratigan that the core issue is that the vast majority of politicians work for the big money sources that fund their campaigns and not for the overall benefit of the U.S. As Ratigan notes, it is going to take a Constitutional amendment to take money out of politics – and there is no more urgent public matter than to insist of all politicians that they get behind such an Amendment. **** J ay Levin, the founder and former Editor-in Chief of the LA Weekly newspaper, has been a highly successful life and relationship coach and trainer for 12 years.
