Julie Plec – who created both series – explained the crossover and the type of role Dobrev will play on The Originals during a recent interview with E! News. Plec says Dobrev will play an irresistibly “alluring” doppelganger named Tatia who had romantic dalliances with two main characters. “She was mentioned in season 3 in association with both Klaus and Elijah, and how they became vampires, and a girl they both loved who was the original doppelganger,” says Plec. “So Nina Dobrev will be visiting The Originals for a nice little storyline in our fifth episode which airs November 3.” Sources say Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder aren’t speaking on the set of The Vampire Diaries, so we imagine she’ll welcome the chance to visit a different production.
