So much for a friendly split. The Bethenny Frankel divorce case against Jason Hoppy has grown seriously contentious, with the main obstacle between the former couple also being the cutest: Two-year old daughter Brynn. Both sides have filed for primary custody of the little one, with a source telling Us Weekly that Hoppy really did intend to “play nice” at the outset of this break-up. But ” Jason is livid with how cold Bethenny has been with him since the the split,” a friend alleges. “He wants to make her pay.” And Hoppy’s actions have blindsided the talk show host, who thought she could quickly file for divorce and not deal with any “hassle,” the source adds. Looks like Jenelle Evans and Amber Portwood have company. Kailyn Lowry of Teen Mom 2 recently revealed that she has bipolar disorder. “My mom is bipolar and it turns out I am too,” she said in a recent interview. Lowry discovered her diagnosis after deciding to go to counseling following a very heated argument with her new husband, Javi Marroquin, and his family. The details on their argument have not been discussed, but Kailyn wanted to offer a public mea culpa to Teen Mom 2 viewers and everyone involved. “I just want to publicly apologize in advance to my fans,” Kailyn said. “Even though Javi and I have moved on from this event, I want to say I’m sorry again to him and his family for letting my emotions get the best of me.” “I know how humiliating that is for them and I’m humiliated myself.” No one has yet seen the event she’s talking about, but it appears that we will at some point on Teen Mom 2, if she’s already apologizing for it in advance. Recently, reports surfaced that MTV canceled Teen Mom 2 in light of Jenelle becoming a major liability. Might Kailyn make their choice even easier? As for her bipolar diagnosis , Kailyn Lowry says she will soon be taking medication to help keep it under control. We wish her nothing but the best.
Lindsay Lohan is desperately trying to hire a new defense attorney, despite having fired Shawn Holley and replaced him with Mark Heller just weeks ago. The actress reportedly ” despises ” Heller, prompting her to hunt for another replacement. Finding one may prove a difficult task for her, however. “Lindsay has been on the phone calling criminal defense attorneys in Los Angeles trying to hire someone new to represent her,” a source revealed. “She called four other top DUI attorneys, and every one turned her down … one even had his assistant call Lindsay back and say he wasn’t interested.” Lindsay Lohan fired Shawn Holley , her longtime lawyer, earlier this month and was represented by Heller on Wednesday; her next court date is in March. The 26-year-old faces charges of lying to police following her summer car crash in L.A., as well as the probation violation this may have triggered. “Lindsay is absolutely stunned that this is happening to her,” the source said about the train wreck being turned down repeatedly by top lawyers. “The [legal community has] a tremendous amount of respect for Shawn Holley, and they know that Lindsay owes her hundreds of thousands of dollars.” “Therefore they want nothing to do with her.” Some of the lawyers view representing LiLo as more trouble than its worth, the source said, and believe she will regret firing Holley for a long, long time. Even Judge Stephanie Sautner seemed to suggest as much, asking her if she really wanted to drop Holley in favor of Heller at this stage of the game. Lindsay said: “Yes, for today.” Sautner told her this action was not just for Wednesday but going forward. Lindsay tersely replied, “yes, going forward.” Somewhat ironically, it’s Heller’s love for publicity and media that is “highly irritating” to Lindsay, the source told celebrity gossip site Radar Online . “[Holley’s] rule was to just lay it all out in court, and leave it at that,” the source said. “Mark had a press conference after he met with prosecutors in the case.” Heller previously had his law license suspended five years for misconduct; even Michael Lohan has spoken out forcefully against Heller representing Lindsay. It seems to be quite unclear why he was even hired, but so be it now. Sautner set a pretrial hearing for March 1; Lindsay is not required to be in court if her counsel appears. An employee confirms Kim had her eye on a couple engagement rings. ” Kim has great taste and loves many of our pieces, such as our Cartier d’Amour solitaire paved with diamonds,” the source said. “It’s a really exquisite engagement band and one of the finest diamonds you could buy.” The employee adds that Kardashian “wants her piece to be custom, something out of the ordinary.” As mentioned above, of course, the reality star first needs to become legally single before she can marry again. But that should be the case within the month. “Kim and Kris haven’t spoken verbally in a year and Kris can’t stand for her name to be mentioned,” another insider alleges. “He is pushing his lawyers to wrap up the divorce, it’ll be finalized by the end of February.”

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) says he has reimbursed a prominent Florida political donor $58,500 for two controversial trips he took back in 2010. Menendez traveled on the donor’s plane to the Dominican Republic in 2010, and was accused of engaging in sex with prostitutes while in that country. He denied those claims, and there had been no public disclosure of the two trips until now, when he reimbursed Salomon Melgen for the travel costs. “The senator paid for the two trips out of his personal account and no reporting requirements apply,” Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright said Wednesday. The FBI searched the West Palm Beach, Fla., office Melgen, an eye doctor, this week; it was unclear if the raid was at all related to Robert Menendez. A third trip by Menendez aboard Melgen’s plane, a campaign fundraising journey to the donor’s residence in the Dominican Republic, took place in May 2010. That trip was reported to the Federal Election Commission. The trip, for fundraising from the community of Americans in the region, took Menendez to Puerto Rico as well as the Dominican Republic, said his office. Menendez categorized the other two trips as personal. The first was August 6-9, 2010, a round trip from South Florida to the Dominican Republic. The second was September 3-6, 2010, from New Jersey to the D.R. and back. Menendez could’ve invoked a “friendship exemption” regarding the personal trips, which would’ve required him to report the travel to the Senate Ethics Committee as a gift. Instead, Menendez chose to reimburse the full cost of the two trips. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) turned aside questions about Menendez Thursday, saying they should be directed to the New Jersey Democrat instead. On Tuesday, before the disclosures about the FBI raid and the trips, he had expressed skepticism about the allegations, telling reporters to consider the source. White House press secretary Jay Carney declined to answer when asked whether President Barack Obama still has full faith and confidence in Menendez. “I don’t have anything for you on that,” Carney told reporters Thursday. The Daily Caller, a conservative website, reported shortly before the November election that Menendez traveled on Melgen’s plane to have sex with prostitutes. Some New Jersey Republicans filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee last fall in the wake of the shocking allegations by The Daily Caller. In response, Menendez’s staff members searched records for trips by the senator and found the two additional trips that hadn’t been reimbursed. On Tuesday, Menendez became chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, succeeding Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), who is now Secretary of State.
