This is just horrible… A drunk driver killed this woman’s son last year and she got stuck with the cleanup bill. A South Carolina woman faced tragedy last June when a drunk driver killed her oldest son. But the still-grieving mother, Loretta Robinson, is now being billed for the various charges associated with the accident, including a $50 charge to clean her son’s blood off the road. Justin Walker, Robinson’s deceased son, was not found at fault for the accident. The accused driver, Anna Gonzalez, tearfully pleaded guilty in court last Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported. According to MSNBC, the undocumented woman had been living in the United States for 12 years, but never got a South Carolina driver’s license. Gonzalez was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Robinson was on hand in court to express her outrage at the bills she’s received since losing her son. “I had to pay to have the vehicle towed. I had to pay for the vehicle to be removed and to clean up the street from Justin’s blood,” Robinson said. According to WYFF, Robinson also paid to have the wrecked car stored for months in case there was a trial. The South Carolina State Office of Victims Assistance offers a combined total of up to $15,000 for medical, funeral, counseling and wage compensation for the families of victims of crime. According to NBC Greenville, Robinson received some money from the victim’s assistance office, but it did not cover the costs of cleanup or storage. There has been some recent controversy about the crime rate among undocumented immigrants in the United States. In March, the Scott Gardiner Act, a bill that would authorize the deportation of any undocumented immigrant convicted of drunk driving, was reintroduced to Congress by Representatives Sue Myrick and Mike McIntyre, News 14 Carolina reported. “We have to be able, as a country, to figure out a way with people here who are illegal and commit crimes,” Robinson told WYFF. California Pastor Dies From Flesh-Eating Bacteria A long-serving and well-loved pastor has been killed by a flesh-eating bacteria infection that has already left five others seriously ill. Linda Snyder, from Sacramento, who is a preacher at city’s United Methodist Church, died this morning following a six-month battle with the deadly germ called necrotizing-fasciitis. She was the sixth person to have developed a flesh-eating infection over the course of the last two months. At the beginning of June South Carolina grandmother Louise Thompson underwent emergency surgery to remove infected flesh from her leg and was in a coma for five days. And last month student Aimee Copeland from Georgia College had to have her leg, her foot and both hands amputated and is still in intensive care after bacteria got into a cut she developed following a fall. Mrs Snyder contracted the deadly disease on January 6 after bacteria got into a wound, possibly an abscess, she had developed in December. Doctors tried to contain the spread of the bacteria, but her daughter Karen told Fox 40 that her mother had developed lots of complications and medical staff were unable to contain it. After two weeks of shocking elimination episodes, “American Idol” took a break from the surprises Thursday (April 26), sending perpetual bottom-dweller Elise Testone home. Testone, the 28-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina, had faced elimination so many times that “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine joked she had a “vacation home” in the bottom three. Testone came up on the short end of the reported 58 million votes cast following Wednesday’s performance episode, where she took on Queen’s “I Want It All” and a very wordy rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold as Love.” Following the Hendrix song, Randy Jackson told her it “wasn’t the right song for this time in the competition,” and on Thursday’s show, Iovine called Testone “a great singer who makes bad choices.” He called “Bold as Love” a “double down on bad decisions.” Testone, the oldest of this season’s finalists, sang Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” during her exit. It was one of her signature songs of the season. Testone was joined in the bottom three Thursday by Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. Laine was sent back to safety immediately, leaving Testone and Cavanagh to await their fate. According to host Ryan Seacrest, the 58 million votes cast were 10 million more than the number of votes cast at this point in the season last year. Via TMZ : Ray J is taking a 5-figure beating in court — because a judge has ordered the singer to pay more than $26,000 … after allegedly blowing off a radio appearance in South Carolina back in 2010. The SC station — called Cox Radio — originally sued Ray J, claiming it paid him $20,000 to MC at a local event for a couple hours … then attend a meet-and-greet with fans for another 30 minutes. But according to the lawsuit, Ray blew the entire thing off — and absconded with the money. A South Carolina judge ruled in favor of Cox radio because Ray never showed up, awarding it $25,100 — but Ray didn’t pay, so Cox took the judgment to Ray’s primary state of residence … California.
