Kate Middleton Visits Downton Abbey Set!

A visit by the Duchess of Cambridge herself, Kate Middleton, to the set of Downton Abbey made for a moment in UK show business heaven earlier today. The staff of the iconic, stately, early 20th Century home are frequently required to prepare for the arrival of important guests, but nothing like this. Even Dame Maggie Smith, a.k.a. the Dowager Countess of Grantham, might have met her match in the form of the pregnant, glowing Kate Middleton. The Duchess visited the set of the most profitable British TV show of all time, wearing a brand new coat from maternity label JoJo Maman Bebe. She said earlier this week that she forgets she’s pregnant sometimes . If you just glanced at this photo, featuring Kate and the Downton cast, you might too. And she’s due next month! She met and chatted with the creator Julien Fellowes, and also met Zac Barker, who plays Lady Mary’s son George, before being shown into the set. 1 Killed In Terrorist Attack At Free Speech Event Valentine’s Day has been marred already, thanks to a terrorist attack that claimed the life of a civilian and injured three police officers in Denmark. According to NY Daily News reports: At least one civilian was killed and three Denmark police officers were shot and wounded during a Copenhagen cafe free speech debate hosted by Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who has been threatened for drawing the Prophet Muhammed, police said. Two Danish-speaking gunmen, dressed in dark clothes, are on the loose. About 30 bullets burst threw the windows of Krudttoenden cafe in northern Copenhagen Saturday after French Ambassador Francois Zimeray had just finished speaking, police said. “They fired on us from the outside,” Zimeray told AFP. “It was the same intention as the Charlie Hebdo attack except they didn’t manage to get in.” The gunmen sped off in a dark Volkswagen Polo just after the shooting around 4 p.m., police said. Authorities said they found the abandoned car in eastern Copenhagen a little while later. A 40-year-old man who was attending the event died, police said in a statement. They did not release any other details. Three police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police told reporters at 7 p.m. local time. One was struck in the groin, another in the leg and the third in the shoulder. We’re praying for speedy recoveries for the officers involved. The attempt was quite similar to the recent attack in Paris , raising concerns throughout Europe. Police are investigating whether the shooting is an assassination attempt on Vilks, who is under police protection whenever he comes to Denmark, incident commander Jørgen Petersen told TV2. At least 13 people were arrested in connection to plots to kill Vilks after he drew the Muslim Prophet as a dog in 2007. Two brothers tried to burn down his house in 2010 and were arrested for arson. Vilks, 68, said he had received fewer invitations to give lectures because of increased security concerns after Islamic militants attacked the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine offices in Paris last month. “This will create fear among people on a whole different level than we’re used to,” he said. “Charlie Hebdo was a small oasis. Not many dared do what they did.” The Copenhagen tragedy is reminiscent of the Paris attacks, the former head of operations at the Danish Security and Intelligence Service said. Stuart Scott Dies: Beloved ESPN Anchor Was 49

ESPN anchor Stuart Scott has passed away. Scott had been battling cancer for several years. He was 49 years old. At the 2014 ESPY Awards held in July, the longtime SportsCenter host won an award for perseverance that had been named in honor of legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and fellow cancer fighter Jimmy Valvano. Scott’s moving speech had the audience in tears and remains a potent reminder of the eloquence and wit that made him a fan favorite at ESPN for over 20 years: Stuart Scott ESPYs Speech A fighter until in the end – in the most literal sense – Scott had been engaging in intense MMA training sessions between harrowing bouts of cancer treatment. His trainer tells TMZ that Scott refused to allow any of his sparring partners go easy on him and had earned a reputation at his gym as a “battle horse.” Joining the network in 1993, Scott was instantly a perfect fit for ESPN’s flagship show. Catchphrases such as “Boo-yah,” and “Cooler than the other the side of the pillow” made Scott a household name among sports fans and are still often quoted to this day. But it may be Scott’s words at last year’s ESPY Awards for which he would most like to be remembered: “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live.” Scott is survived by two daughters. Jesse Helt, Miley Cyrus’ VMA Date, Sentenced to 6 Months in Jail

Jesse Helt is making like Teresa Giudice : The young man – who made headlines in August for accompanying Miley Cyrus to the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and even giving a speech on her behalf – is headed to prison. The 22-year old received a six-month jail sentence yesterday for violating his probation, according to NBC News. Jesse Helt Surrenders to Police Helt accepted Miley’s Video of the Year trophy at the aforementioned event and then went on to tell viewers about the plight of homeless individuals such as himself. Cyrus later took to social media to explain that she was trying to use her fame for good, as she and Helt helped raised over $200,000 for a homeless shelter in Los Angeles through their stunt. But Miley received criticism from critics who claimed she was simply exploiting Helt, while it eventually came out that Helt wasn’t actually homeless. To make matters worse, the public then learned that several warrants were out for Helt’s arrest , ranging in seriousness from burglary to criminal mischief. Helt turned himself in to police not long afterward and was permitted to speak on his own behalf in court on Tuesday. He told a judge that he’d “like to be viewed as a good person.” Judge Monte Campbell, however, cited continuing probation violations as the reason to revoke his probation and send him to jail. Helt was credited with 57 days served. At the VMAs, his speech did manage to make folks aware of the issue of poverty in America, as Helt told the millions watching at home: “My name is Jesse, and I’m accepting this award on behalf of 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth who are starving lost and scared right now. I know this because I am one of these people. I have survived in shelters all over this city…Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.” 2014 MTV VMAs in GIFs! 1. Rick Santorum Slams Muslims For Being Violent During his speech on Friday at the Values Voter Summit, former Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum claimed that “the West” was in an “existential fight” against the forces of “radical Islam.” Via Raw Story reports: Unlike fellow Values Voter Summit speaker Michele Bachmann (R) — who urged President Barack Obama to go to war with all of Islam — Santorum limited his criticism to those Muslims who were rightly hesitant about modernity. Still, he noted, there is “a fundamental foundational problem in Islam of embracing issues of freedom of conscience and religious persecution.” “Christendom [once] expanded by the sword, that doesn’t happen anymore,” he continued, but “you don’t have any Baptist ministers going on jihad.” “The Western world,” Santorum said, “has come to terms with religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and that persuasion is the way to spread the faith.” But the president and those who believe that not all Muslims are fundamentalists were not Santorum’s only targets. He also called out Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) in all but name, saying. that “clearly, there are people out there who are trying to advocate for us to take a more limited view of what our role should be internationally, both from the standpoint of our engagement in foreign policy as well as our military strength.” However, he added, “there is a difference between limited government and small government. Looks like all you movie-lovers may just have to put the lotion down for a while … Porn Workers Unemployed Due To Condom Laws Via Guardian : Pornography production in Los Angeles appears to have plunged in the wake of a law which compels performers to use condoms. The number of permits issued for adult films fell 90% last year to just 40 permits compared with 2012, when the law was introduced, the Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday. “We’ve seen a dramatic drop in permits,” Paul Audley, president of FilmLA, told the paper. “It is a cause for concern that people who are manning the cameras, lights and other things on those sets are not working anymore.” Voters in LA County backed the ban after the Aids Healthcare Foundation, an advocacy group, argued that unsafe sex on sets spread HIV and other diseases. The industry protested in vain that it conducted regular health screenings and that audiences and performers tended to prefer porn without condoms. The state senate is due to vote this month on whether to widen the ban to all of California. Several porn producers said they had moved production to other parts of southern California, as well as Nevada, Florida and eastern Europe, where there is less regulation. The exodus follows the migration of mainstream Hollywood feature films and TV dramas to states and countries with lower costs and generous tax breaks. The “runaway production”, as it has been dubbed, has left LA’s once formidable army of grips, electricians, camera operators, set decorators and caterers struggling for work. “It’s not helpful to have another segment of the industry leave the region,” said Audley. The adult entertainment industry’s advocacy group, the Free Speech Coalition, has attributed occasional HIV infections among performers to off-set behaviour. It said condoms were unnecessary – because of regular health screenings – and unpopular. With bright lights and prolonged periods of penetration condoms aggravate friction, causing discomfort and making it more difficult to maintain erections, Diane Duke, the group’s CEO, told the Guardian last year. “And yes, consumers seem to prefer non-condom movies.” Damn…is seeing your favorite flick-stars be safe really that unappealing?
