According to Forbes , major retailer, Spirit Halloween announced that the Caitlyn Jenner costume is actually amongst the 4 top selling looks for adults. After receiving backlash the company did release a statement calling the Olympic champion “the most important real-life superhero of the year.” Hmmm, with this wide of success we sure do hope she’s collecting her coins for them using her image! Caitlyn Jenner Halloween Costume Hits Retailers A new costume has hit stores, emulating Caitlyn Jenner’s coming out cover of Vanity Fair. Naturally, people are calling it both transphobic and hilarious. Via NBCnews : It’s nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015. Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete’s Vanity Fair cover earlier this year. While Jenner’s supporters condemned the costume as “transphobic” and “disgusting” on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup. “At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes,” said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. “We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that.” Despite the company’s stated intentions, transgender activists are lashing out. Six weeks before the roster deadline, the British-born but Virginia-raised Ellis on Tuesday settled on her 23-player team that will head to Canada this summer in pursuit of its first global title since 1999. The squad includes two members of the Washington Spirit pro club, two University of Virginia Cavaliers and a former locally based scoring ace. Ellis, in charge since last spring, is a graduate of Fairfax County’s Robinson Secondary School and William and Mary, and was a college assistant at Maryland and Virginia. Right back Ali Krieger and backup goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris play locally for the Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League. Krieger, who started at the 2011 World Cup in Germany, has deep local ties: She embraced the sport in Prince William Soccer, a youth club, and starred at Forest Park High School in Woodbridge.
