Josh Samman, a UFC middleweight fighter who has spent the past several days in a coma, died on Wednesday, October 5. He was 28 years old. The sad news was confirmed by Samman manager, Gary Ibarra, to Fox Sports. Ibarra told the network that Samman passed away in a hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Details are still coming in regarding what happened, but here is what we know at this time: The UFC fighter was found unresponsive last Thursday, September 29, alongside his friend Troy Kirkingburg… who was pronounced dead at the scene. He was also 28 years old. Police told the Tallahassee Democrat soon afterward that Samman had a pulse when he was discovered and was breathing when a friend found his body. According to law enforcement official, police responded to “a call of a possible drug overdose.” Samman struggled with substance abuse over the years, having chronicled his challenging life in his book “The Housekeeper: Love, Death, and Prizefighting.” According to the websote MMA Fighting.com, Samman was depressed after his girlfriend, Hailey Bevis, was killed in a car accident in 2013. He reportedly felt responsible for her death because they were sending text messages at the time she got into the crash. Broward County Medical Examiner and Trauma Services Chief Medical Examiner Craig Mallak told the aforementioned MMA website that Samman’s cause of death is not currently known. The site adds that “the Medical Examiner’s office will not administer a toxicology report because Samman survived for days after being found and ‘there are no suitable specimens to test.” It is possible we may never know the cause of death. Samman’s mother told Fox Sports this week that no heroin was found in his system, despite reports of a drug overdose. The fighter hailed from Iowa and did not leave behind any offspring. Desean Jackson To Rock Custom Shoes To Protest Police Brutality Ballers are finding more ways to protest the police killings of Black people. Instead of taking a knee , baller DeSean Jackson plans to make a statement at today’s game with his footwear. Desean reportedly hired artist Marcus Rivero — a.k.a. SolesBySir — to design a yellow caution tape wrap around on his cleats to protest the frequent deaths of unarmed African Americans at the hands of police. TMZ caught up with Desean to find out more about the statement he intends to make with his caution tape cleats: We reached out to Jackson for a comment … and were told “I’ve seen enough yellow caution tape and it’s time for a stand and a change in our community and society.” “Senseless killings have been ongoing for awhile and police brutality in our black community … and as a young black leader with a stage and platform I’m starting awareness to help prevent these killings, and hopefully get justice to these cops who have taken lives of innocent human beings.” Jackson says he doesn’t just want justice, but also “a change with the decision making on these cop killings.” “I am also coming up with a master plan to start a movement” with the intention of making a real impact. Vitalii Sediuk has struck again. And this is getting seriously ridiculous. The serial “prankster” (can outlets please stop using that term? The guy isn’t calling celebrities and claiming to be Seymour Butts…) just went out and attacked Kim Kardashian. In broad daylight. Sediuk has gained a reputation as someone who harasses and assaults celebrities. There’s really no other way to put it. Just a few days ago, he jumped on the back of Gigi Hadid while she was in France. Prior to that Sediuk attacked Ciara . He also tried to kiss Will Smith on a red carpet one time and literally crawled under the dress of America Ferrera. For real. This actually happened (see below) and the guy who perpetrated the violation of privacy was barely punished. So that brings us to Wednesday afternoon. Kardashian had just gotten out of a car in Paris when Vitalii Sediuk ran up from behind her and tried to kiss her famous rear end. We make fun of Kim Kardashian and her family members all the time, but something such as this is inexcusable. It’s completely undeserved. As you can see, Kim’s bodyguard doesn’t let Sediuk get very far in his mission, tackling him to the ground almost immediately: Vitalii Sediuk Attacks Kim Kardashian! The video was posted to Instagram by makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, but there’s actually a longer version circulating around the Internet. Anyone this moron attacks should file charges. It’s one thing to say a celebrity should expect to get made fun of online or something. But it’s a very different thing to say a celebrity isn’t entitled to physical privacy and well-being. As you’ve probably heard, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been kneeling for the national anthem prior to his team’s games as a means of protesting police violence against people of color. Though the spirit of his protest quickly spread to throughout the NFL and is now impacting other sports , Kaepernick’s decision has been unpopular with some fans, particularly folks with more right-wing political leanings – like the members of the Duggar family. But now it looks like one Duggar insider might be breaking with the rest of the Counting On clan when it comes to matters related to Kaepernick, the police, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Ben Seewald doesn’t have a reputation as the most socially conscious reality star on television, but it seems that the 21-year-old has been affected by the recent wave of fatal shootings perpetrated by police officers. Sources close to the family say that the husband of Jessa Duggar has broken with his in-laws by expressing support for Kaepernick and concern for the communities that have been affected by police violence. Seewald has mostly kept these views from fans, but he’s also given subtle indications on social media that he’s more left-leaning in his political beliefs than the ultra-conservative Duggars: Earlier this week, Ben re-tweeted evangelical preacher Russell Moore, who stated that “the situation has to change” regarding police violence toward African-Americans. And it’s far from the first time that Ben has demonstrated an awareness of the problem of systemic racism in America. Ben Seewald on Racial Unrest That’s Ben interviewing the rapper Flame about protests and police violence earlier this year. Seewald admits that he knows little about the subject, but expresses a willingness to learn, which is certainly a step in the right direction. And not surprisingly, they’ve earned him condemnation from the family’s evangelical fans. Earlier this month, Seewald posted a photo of President Obama on his Instagram page with the following caption: “Be in prayer for president Obama: ‘Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. “‘For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.'” Naturally, his comments section exploded in criticism, with numerous followers declaring their intention to stop following Ben on social media and boycott his family’s show. Ben responded with a biblical clapback: “Before calling a leader (or anyone else) by a derogatory term, consider this: ‘Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.’ – 1 Peter 2:17.” Pretty enlightened stuff, especially coming from a member of the Duggar clan. Of course, this is the same guy who once blamed racism on evolution , so he still has a long way to go. Anyway, one member of the extended Duggar-verse who likely won’t be sitting next to Ben this Thanksgiving is Jill Duggar’s mother-in-law, Cathy Dillard, who recently tweeted: “Not watching NFL, till they fire those who refuse to honor this country.
