Junior Galette Out For 2016 Season After Injury Junior Gallette isn’t having the best 2016. First, he got popped for beating up a stripper while he was playing ball for the Saints back in January. Next, he got released from the New Orleans Saints…we’re assuming at least partially on account of the whole “slapping up a stripper” thing. Now, having been traded to the Redskins, he has torn his right Achilles tendon and is out for the entire season — the second time this has happened to him in just as many years, since he also missed last season with the Saints due to the exact same injury on his other leg. Via ESPN : It looks as though Junior Galette’s long-awaited debut with the Washington Redskins will again be put on hold. Galette has torn his right Achilles tendon and is out for the season, NFL Media’s Rand Getlin reported per a source familiar with injury. Galette suffered the injury while working out, Getlin added. Galette missed the 2015 season with the same injury to the opposite leg, suffered during practice in August 2015. He’s still yet to play a meaningful down with the Redskins after signing a one-year deal in 2015, following a falling out with the New Orleans Saints that resulted in his release. Despite the injury, Galette re-upped with the Redskins in March on another one-year deal that could be worth up to $4.1 million. Prior to his off-field issues and subsequent release, Galette was among the league’s best young pass rushers. Lined up on the opposite end of the line from fellow rusher Cameron Jordan, the two wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks, with Galette recording 22 sacks combined between 2013 and 2014. New Orleans paid him as such, inking him to a four-year, $41.3 million extension before the problems outside of work and in the locker room made the Saints do a 180 and dump him. And even after that, the Redskins adding Galette seemed to be a cheap pickup with potential for great reward. A year and a half later, it looks like Washington won’t see any return on the deal. Wow. Kevin Durant’s OKC Thunder Jersey Selling For Only 48 Cents Basketball fans’ mouths were left agape when it was announced that OKC Thunder MVP Kevin Durant was taking his talents aboard the Golden State Warriors bandwagon. Similar to Cleveland Cavaliers fans, many in Oklahoma city were seen on the internet destroying KD’s jerseys in revolt. Today, we get word from ESPN that Durant has VERY little value to Thunder fans… A sporting goods store in Oklahoma City has taken a drastic move — marking down some Kevin Durant Thunder jerseys to 99 percent off. The jerseys, rendered less desirable by Durant’s signing with the Golden State Warriors earlier this month, were hanging on a rack this week at an Academy Sports+Outdoors store in town with a sign advertising them for 48 cents. Ray Rice Says He’ll Donate Yearly Salary To Domestic Violence Charity If Signed By NFL Team Ray Rice REALLY wants to play football again. After becoming a national pariah for punching his wife unconscious in an Atlantic City casino elevator, he was effectively banished from the NFL after serving his suspension. In an effort to clean up his image and return to the field of play, Rice has made a bold proclamation-slash-plea to teams who may be afraid to touch him… Via USAToday If Ray Rice gets a chance to return to the NFL this season, every game check he earns would go towards combating the issue that took him out of the league. Out of football since the Baltimore Ravens cut him in September 2014 after video surfaced of him knocking out his then-fiancée in a casino elevator, Rice told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday he’d donate his entire salary in 2016 to organizations with programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence and supporting survivors and their families. It’s an extension of the message Rice’s representatives have delivered to teams about his intentions in trying to get a job and resume his playing career after a two-year absence. Says Rice: “All the scrutiny that I’ve got, it was deserved, because domestic violence is a horrible thing,” said Rice, the three-time Pro Bowl running back banished by the NFL (but later reinstated on appeal) amid outrage over the video recorded nearly 2 ½ years ago. “Me donating my salary is something that’ll be from the heart for me. I only want to play football so I can end it the right way for my kids and for the people that really believed in me. But I know there’s a lot of people affected by domestic violence, and every dollar helps. It’s raising awareness. “People need homes. People need shelter when they’re in a crucial situation. I’ve donated a lot of money to charities, but I had a situation where it was a national crisis. I’m not saying I’d be (donating the salary) to get on the field, but it’s something that will show where my heart is.
