Rachel Lindsay understands why so many people are so excited that she's been chosen as the new Bachelorette . She isn't dumb. She isn't blind. And she isn't ignorant. When Season 13 of this ABC franchise kicks off in the spring, Lindsay will become the first African-American to ever anchor either The Bachelorette or The Bachelor . That's pretty cool. That's something to make a big deal over. But it's also something Lindsay sort of hopes stops being the sole focus on everything she does and says over the next several months. “I’m honored to have this opportunity and to represent myself as an African American woman,” she told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, adding: “I just hope that people rally behind me … and just realize that I’m just trying to find love, and even though I’m an African American woman, it’s no different than any other Bachelorette.” That's not entirely true, however. Lindsay is older than most previous Bachelorette stars at 31 years of age. She's also a lawyer in Dallas and, to be honest, seems far more grounded, intelligent and normal than other women who have appeared on this series. Lindsay was asked, for example, about the pretty terrible track record of long-lasting relationships on the program. And she didn't spout some cliche about love or make it sound like she was determined to find her Prince Charming. She simply replied as follows: “I just like to keep it 100 and keep it real. I figure if I just stay true to myself, it’ll be a successful show.” Forget being the first-ever black Bachelorette. Lindsay sounds like the first-ever sane Bachelorette. Selena Gomez would like you to stop focusing on her personal life for a moment. Yes, she's dating The Weeknd . And, yes, she's sort of taunting Justin Bieber . But Selena is also producing a new show coming to Netflix, and she just dropped the trailer for it. With Pretty Little Liars wrapping up its beloved run this spring, Gomez is hoping that 13 Reasons Why is coming along at the perfect time for those seeking a melodrama centered around teens and mysterious messages. Based on a 2007 novel by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why chronicles the story of a young woman played by Katherine Langford. She commits suicide, but not before leaving behind 13 cassette tapes for those she blames for her depression and this subsequent decision. “A peek at a passion project I’ve been working on with @Netflix. @13ReasonsWhy arrives 3/31,” Gomez captioned the trailer on Instagram yesterday. The 13 Reasons Why teaser introduces a handful of the show’s cast, which includes familiar names and faces such as Miles Heizer (Parenthood), Kate Walsh (Private Practice) and Brian d’Arcy James (Smash). The ladies seemed to turn over a new leaf on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7 Episode 7 after the recent argument at games night. We picked up with Dorit Kemsley chatting to PK about Dorit’s fight with Eileen Davidson and Lisa Rinna. PK was quick to point out that Dorit was talking too much about her friends and that was getting her in trouble. Kyle revealed that it was getting to her that her husband was always working and they barely got time to spend with each other. After that, they all went to lunch and Kim revealed that she did not want to talk about the fight at her games night. Kim said that she was proud of her sister’s sobriety. Elsewhere, Lisa Rinna met up with her friend, Eden Sassoon and they got talking about games night. Eden claimed that she felt “no connection” to Kyle at the game night. Lisa R was shocked because she thought they would all be able to get along fine, but no one can ever really get along on this show. She also stated that Kyle would apologize to her in due course. The pair then switched gears to talk about Kim’s sobriety. Eden said that she wanted to help Kim because she understood what was going on with her. Lisa R then got a little bit too involved by branding Kyle as Kim’s “enabler.” That’s a harsh thing to say and it will probably come back to haunt her. Kyle then met up with both of them for lunch. Kyle was upset that Eden got straight to the point and quizzed her about other people in her family having addictions. Kyle shut her down, but Eden continued saying that Kim’s energy was sad. This did not stop Eden, who felt the need to continue pursuing a reaction. After that, Kyle made her way to Greece with Erika. However, Kyle was still upset about what had happened with Eden and struggled to enjoy herself. The last straw came when Erika’s dancers threw her in the pool. “I don’t want to be Debbie Downer,” Kyle commented to the camera. “But they just spent three hours getting her hair to look like that.” Finally, Dorit thought it would be a good idea to reach out to Eileen and Lisa R to find out how to fix the situation. Dorit admitted that she had drank way too much and should have kept her mouth shut. However, Dorit did point out that Eileen was the one who got on her nerves the most because she started the argument about Erika. “I’m not speaking on behalf of her. I’m speaking on behalf of myself,” Eileen clarified. After some more back and forth, the ladies agreed to return to the way they once were and the feud was over. According to a bombshell new report, Jenner has a scheme up her very expensive sleeve, one that will combine her family’s reality show with her family’s number-one nemesis in an attempt to rid the latter from her life once and for all. We write, of course, about Blac Chyna. The moody fiancee of Rob Kardashian, Chyna has clashed with Kris and company for years. It all started awhile back, after Kylie Jenner started dating Chyna’s original baby daddy, Tyga, spending a lot of time with the ex-couple’s son, King Cairo, in the process. This romance effectively killed Chyna’s friendship with Kim Kardashian, as Blac attacked Kylie on multiple occasions over social media. But then she started to actually date Rob, causing yet another rift between this troubled sock maker and his relatives. Presumed at first to be nothing but a farce, or perhaps a PR stunt, Chyna and Rob’s relationship grew stronger and stronger… until they got engaged! And then Chyna got pregnant! And then Chyna gave birth to a little girl named Dream Kardashian in November. Still, despite seemingly integrating herself deeply in the Kardashian-Jenner universe, Chyna has never been fully welcomed by her famous quasi relatives. They even threatened to take Chyna to court after she applied to trademark the name Angela Renee Kardashian. So all of this drama brings us to a new report in In Touch Weekly. The tabloid alleges that Kris Jenner and her loved ones have been “digging up dirt” on Blac Chyna and plan to “present” their findings to Rob some time this spring. With E! cameras rolling, of course. “They will sit him down for an intervention and place an envelope containing all the proof of what she has done on the table in front of him,” a source says of Jenner’s plan, adding: “They want to have a psychologist on hand so they can discuss how Chyna abuses [Rob].” The couple has certainly experienced its shares of ups and downs over the past several months. There was even an instance of Chyna allegedly getting drunk and beating Rob up, so we guess one could refer to that as a form of “abuse.” Although we’re pretty sure Rob doesn’t need the help of his family to understand what happened there. In late December, Rob was hospitalized due to a flare-up of his Diabetes. And the In Touch insider says this incident is what truly set Kris off on a path to destroy Chyna for good. “At first they thought she was a positive influence, but they now believe she is killing him. “So after Rob’s emergency trip to the hospital, his family hatched a plan to get rid of Chyna once and for all.” Keeping Up With the Kardashians comes back to E! with new episodes in March. But at least one cast member from this VH1 reality show doesn’t need the cameras to be rolling in order to bring home some drama. Isn’t that right, Jessica Dime? According to a random celebrity gossip site named Fameolous, the reality star and popular Instagram presence is at the center of a new sex tape. It was released by an equally random rapper named Lody Lucci as some kind of revenge against Dime supposedly finding romance with former NBA player Shawne Williams. We can’t show you any of the Jessica Dime sex tape footage here because it is EXTREMELY not safe for work (or even some homes), … but one of the opening shots from the footage features a woman with a lower back tattoo that looks just like the one on Dime’s body. No, really, people: Prince William supports his brother. A few weeks ago, Prince Harry took the very unusual step of releasing a statement through Kensington Palace that confirmed his relationship with Suits actress Meghan Markle . It took the public to task and asked that people please show some respect by, at the very least , not threatening Markle’s life over the Internet. In the wake of this statement, rumors started to swirl that William did not support either its release; the romance between his brother and the Suits star in general; or both. And while anonymous sources had tried to quiet talk of a sibling rivalry , it has taken a second statement from The Royal Family to finally put this alleged beef to rest. Via a Kensington Palace press spokesman, William said the following on Monday: “The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him.” Short. Simple. Mostly to the point. Would it have been nice to read something along the lines of “Prince William adores Meghan Markle and tries to watch Suits online whenever he can to keep up with her work and hopes she is soon part of the family?” Sure. But that would have been asking a lot. Harry and Markle are clearly very serious about each other. You almost never see a member of the Royal family acknowledge his or her romance in such a public manner. The stars met this spring in Toronto and saw each other often over the summer, according to various sources, with Markle typically flying overseas to spend time in London. There’s already talk of marriage. Harry released his statement after a flood of harassment and abuse directed at Markle and her family prompted him to break with royal tradition. In the statement, he said he feared for her safety. “It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm,” the statement from Kensington Palace read. It continued: “The past week has seen a line crossed. Empire is getting crazier by the week and not in a good way. On Empire Season 3 Episode 6 , the company was hacked, bringing business to a grinding halt and landing the Lyon family in trouble. We picked up with Cookie and Angelo being as cute as ever. In fact, Cookie wanted to show Angelo just how much she valued him as her significant other by sending him a nude picture. Little did she know, it was going to be all over the internet soon after. Yes, Empire got hacked and it threw everything into turmoil. Lucious was completely pissed at the prospect of all of his emails becoming common knowledge and started waving baseball bat around. Come on, it wouldn’t be Lucious if he didn’t threaten people with violence. That’s sort of the only thing the guy can do to get ahead. It’s pretty sad. Right?! Things went into overdrive when a nude picture of Cookie was released to the masses. Whenever there’s a hack, there’s always nude pictures not far behind, so Cookie sending pictures of her goods to Angelo at the top of the hour made it pretty predictable that a hack was around the corner. Tariq and the FBI showed up at Empire to find out what went on, but Tariq made it clear to Lucious that he would be finding out all of his secrets to use against him. The Tariq storyline has been dragged out for too long already. It’s time to send it to the scrap heap and be done with it. The board trying to oust Andre from the board was hilarious. Andre knew what to do to get back on their good side and it was to prove they were all as bad as each other. After the picture was released, Cookie broke things off with Angelo because she thought she was hurting his campaign and knew her past would be dredged up. It was a surprisingly good move for her. She put Angelo’s feelings before her own. There’s something about this couple that just works so well. When Angelo was quizzed about splitting up with Cookie, he stripped off on live TV as a vow of solidarity. It was a good gesture, but I do get the feeling he wanted to show off his ripped body to the masses. When Lucious and Andre quizzed Tiana about some dude who hacked her phone before, they went to his house and had Shine deal with him. Shine did promise to send Lucious some sort of gift from the body, which was fifty shades of disgusting. However, the biggest twist of all came when we got word that Andre Lyon was more like his father than he first realized. He was the one who orchestrated the hack and got someone else to do it, knowing he could swing the blame on the other guy. It was a well thought out plan, but I don’t think the show needs another Lucious Lyon. This could get old real fast, so we might as well enjoy it before it goes stale. It’s time to ditch the guest stars and start telling viewers a coherent story that actually has long-term consequences for the characters. Right now, it feels like the slate has been wiped clean from the previous episode and that’s not doing anything for the flow of the series. There was a time when Empire was appointment TV, but it’s descending into mediocrity and it needs to sort itself out before it is too late. Take Jamal’s storyline. He seems fine for one episode, then this week he’s went completely downhill and overdosed on drugs. The storylines just aren’t meshing very well and it needs to be addressed soon. Empire is back after a longer than normal hiatus and it immediately threw us into the deep end. On Empire Season 3 Episode 5 , Lucious realized the error of his ways, but that did not mean he was about to cut a deal with his sworn enemy. We started things off with Shine getting ready to go murder some of the Lyons, but he got the shock of his life when he went to murder Andre. That shock stemmed from Nessa being in the apartment. This confirmed to Shine that Andre was sleeping with her and he tried to pull the trigger. Conveniently, there were no bullets in the gun, but Nessa managed to get Shine to agree to a short-term deal that would allow some much-needed breathing space for the Lyons. When that was all said and done, Lucious knew Shine was going full steam ahead in his quest to make his family pay, so he decided the best course of action was to get Shine to make a deal with him. Shine knew it was too good to be true, but Lucious confirmed he would give him the deal. Lucious and Anika then shared a tender moment, but Anika revealed she was after a job at Empire. Lucious decided that it was worth considering and he would. Cookie and Angelo hit their first major relationship snag when Cookie’s probation officer was rude to her. Cookie thought Angelo had got her in trouble and she told him she didn’t want to see him again. This forced him to investigate what was going on and the lady later apologized to Cookie, thus revealing they had received some information that painted her in a bad light. Cookie was then back on Team Angelo and the pair resumed their relationship. Lucious, Cookie and the boys held a live stream of some new music, but the whole thing descended into chaos when Hakeem found out about Andre and Nessa. Hakeem sung some homophobic lyrics about Jamal because he felt Jamal should have told him about Nessa and Andre. Jamal was shocked to the core because he didn’t think there was anything to tell in the first place. The family bickered while being broadcast live and then tried to work things out. However, Hakeem is officially back in cahoots with Lucious and this can only mean bad things. Meanwhile, Tiana was less than impressed with Becky when she gave her the song she wanted for her album without having Cookie’s seal of approval. Are the tumultuous, tawdry, terrible twosome of Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez getting the boot from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta? A series of new reports in recent days suggest that the VH1 series’ best known stars may not be coming back for Season 6. Can we really put any sort of stock in that, though? According to Starcasm, Stevie J and Joseline have allegedly been told that their (large) contracts won’t be renewed for the new season. This talk has not been confirmed, but it makes you wonder. The drama between the two of them has been legendary, and real life and reality TV have blended together like never before of late. If you watch Love & Hip Hop Atlanta online , what you’ve been seeing – especially in this past year – is the VH1 beast eating its own tail. Even before Season 5 began airing, drama between Stevie J and Joseline was playing out online and escalating as the season progressed. By its end, Joseline accused Stevie J of molesting his daughter with Mimi Faust and said she passed a polygraph proving he loves gay porn . Yes, both of those things already happened. Crazily, that was not even the end of it. Stevie later confessed in a radio interview that he and his “wife” had never actually been married. Then, to top it all off, Hernandez got pregnant (supposedly) and disavowed Stevie … who may also be expecting another kid of his own. This all came to a head on the Season 5 reunion, obviously, boosting the show’s ratings higher than ever even as credibility suffered. Funny how that works. Not that seems to matter for the series’ viewers or tweeters, both of which reached record levels this spring. All of which brings us to today and talk that their “contracts for the VH1 show have not been renewed” and “ will not be renewed for Season 6 .” However … Both are reportedly in talks for spinoff shows; Stevie J’s is tentatively titled The Jordans, featuring the producer and his extended family. Stevie’s real name is Steven Jordan, and he has a lot of kids and baby mamas. Joseline’s alleged spinoff would focus on her pregnancy. Whether or not she’s actually pregnant, or Young Dro is the father, remain to be seen – but that’s neither here nor there at this juncture. Again, all of this is unconfirmed, so take it with a grain – nay, a boulder – of salt. Ditto Mimi Faust and her own recent cryptic comments. Mimi tweeted out “Goodbye Season 6” and stated she is on to “bigger and better things” while sharing a photo of herself and her agent. Are we suddenly looking at a mass exodus?!
