Lena Dunham would like to put this month’s most unexpected feud to rest. She’d like to apologize to New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. The Girls actress and creator stirred up a bit of controversy this week after making comments to Amy Schumer in an interview for the Lenny Letter website. Dunham thought back to this spring’s MET Gala in New York City and her awkward experience there, talking to Schumer about what it was like to sit next to Beckham Jr. “It was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards,” Dunham explained . She went on to make some big assumptions about what the wide receiver was thinking. Although the main crux of her point was how she did not fit in such at this sort of fashionable event. “He was like, ‘That’s a marshmallow. That’s a child. That’s a dog.’ It wasn’t mean – he just seemed confused,” Lena continued. “The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f-ck it? Is it wearing a … yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.'” Critics came out in force after Dunham made these comments because they were based solely on conjecture and they didn’t pain Beckham Jr. in a great light. Dunham concluded at the time: “It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. “I was like, ‘This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.'” After reading the backlash, Dunham Tweeted that Beckham was “super awesome” and she was simply being self-deprecating. Her comments were all about her and not about him at all. But now she’s issued a more formal apology. “I owe Odell Beckham Jr an apology,” Dunham wrote on Instagram yesterday. She added: “Despite my moments of bravado, I struggle at industry events (and in life) with the sense that I don’t rep a certain standard of beauty and so when I show up to the Met Ball surrounded by models and swan-like actresses it’s hard not to feel like a sack of flaming garbage.” She continued: “This felt especially intense with a handsome athlete as my dinner companion and a bunch of women I was sure he’d rather be seated with. “But I went ahead and projected these insecurities and made totally narcissistic assumptions about what he was thinking, then presented those assumptions as facts. “I feel terrible about it.” For the record, Beckham Jr. is one of the most exciting players in the NFL and may have dated Khloe Kardashian this summer. He has not commented on the flap. With accusations of white privilege and reverse sexism floating around the Internet, Dunham concluded as follows: “Because after listening to lots of valid criticism, I see how unfair it is to ascribe misogynistic thoughts to someone I don’t know AT ALL. Like, we have never met, I have no idea the kind of day he’s having or what his truth is. “But most importantly, I would never intentionally contribute to a long and often violent history of the over-sexualization of black male bodies- as well as false accusations by white women towards black men. “I’m so sorry, particularly to OBJ, who has every right to be on his cell phone. “The fact is I don’t know about his state of mind (I don’t know a lot of things) and I shouldn’t have acted like I did.” Seems like a pretty in-depth apology to us. Are you still shocked that Nick Viall has been chosen as the next Bachelor on ABC? You’re not alone. Nick Viall is as stunned as anyone. A few days after Viall appeared on the Bachelor in Paradise after-show to announce the news, he’s made it clear over Instagram that he still can’t believe it’s true. Yes, he’s appeared twice on The Bachelorette and is currently a cast member on the aforementioned franchise spinoff. But still. He’s getting a FOURTH shot at love?!? “The look when it hasn’t quite sunk in yet,” Viall wrote as a caption to the selfie above, adding: “Couldn’t feel more fortunate. Incredibly thankful for all the support. We are going to have some fun! #thebachelor.” Not everyone agrees with this assessment, of course. There’s a petition going around to have both Viall AND Pell as the Bachelors this spring, with the women on the show eventually deciding who ought to be the sole star. A seemingly drunk Johnny Depp went off on wife Amber Heard in their kitchen earlier this year, and she managed to get a video of the altercation. WARNING: This may be upsetting to some viewers. Sources close to Depp believe this shocking video posted on TMZ was “heavily edited” and Amber was both smiling and egging him on. It was also a total set up by Amber, if you believe his camp, and could never be used in court, since he didn't know he was being filmed. Keep that in mind as you watch it below. That said: Months before the May 21 incident in which Amber claims Johnny struck her, he is seen here breaking a wine bottle and glass in frustration. In the video, the 30-year-old Heard asks the actor if he just drank a bottle of wine, then tries to calm him down, but he is far from pleased. The actress then says she's sorry for something. She did not say what, and Johnny really wasn't happy with her, seemingly out of it and out of control as he have the same curt response: “Did something happen to you this morning?” Depp, 53, breaks a wine glass and bottle, and tries grab Amber's phone as a struggle seems to occur between them at the end of the clip. Is this proof Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard , which she has alleged as part of their ongoing domestic abuse and divorce dispute? Not on its own merit … but it makes you wonder. The former spouses are currently in the midst of one of the ugliest divorces of all time, with Heard alleging that Depp is a violent alcoholic. Here we go again… Miami Police Commander Charged In Charles Kinsey Shooting Remember when we told you that the officer who shot unarmed Charles Kinsey was identified as Officer Jonathan Aledda? Well there’s a SECOND officer who’s been arrested for their involvement in the shooting. Commander Emile Hollant is accused of fabricating information (presumably in support of his buddy) who “accidentally” shot the unarmed therapist while “protecting him” from his autistic patient. NBC Miami reports: A North Miami police commander has been suspended for allegedly fabricating information about the shooting of an unarmed black therapist. City Manager Larry Spring Jr. said Friday that commander Emile Hollant is suspended without pay. Spring declined to give specifics about how Hollant allegedly fabricated information about Monday’s shooting of Charles Kinsey by Officer Jonathan Aledda. “He totally violated his trust from the public to protect and serve by giving misinformation to this department,” North Miami Councilman Scott Galvin said at Friday’s news conference. ” He not only jeopardized Mr. Kinsey’s life and the life of his client but he jeopardized the life of every police officer who serves this city.” Hilton Napoleon, Kinsey’s attorney, said he was disturbed by Friday’s development. “The fact that they were trying to cover this up initially is a huge problem,” Napoleon said. Aledda has been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. He is a four-year veteran and a member of the city’s SWAT team. SMFH…this is some bullisht but not surprising.
