Some actual good news out of the world of politics today as Chelsea Clinton – the daughter of former president Bill Clinton and current presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton – has announced that she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting their second child. Chelsea shared the news on social media moments ago, tweeting, “Next summer, Charlotte is going to be a big sister! Feeling very blessed & grateful this holiday season.” Hillary Clinton commented on the tweet, writing: “Your dad and I could not be happier for you, Marc, and Charlotte. We’re so excited to meet our second grandchild!” Chelsea gave birth to daughter Charlotte in September of 2014. Democratic front-runner Hillary has frequently gushed about the toddler on the campaign trail and cheerfully discusses her duties as a grandmother in interviews. A former correspondent for NBC News , Clinton has stepped away from her career to focus on being a mother. Following her announcement on Twitter, Chelsea elaborated on her exciting news in a Facebook post: “Being Charlotte’s parents has been the most joyous, meaningful and loving experience of our lives and we are very excited about growing our family in the new year,” the 35-year-old wrote. It was a year that the royal family will look back on fondly, as records were broken and new life was welcomed into the world. On May 2nd, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born inside the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in London. Just 10 hours later, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrapped the little girl in a soft ivory bonnet (a gift from nanny Maria Borrallo's Spanish mother), and took her back to Kensington Palace. Since her birth, the public has been treated to photos of Charlotte and her big brother, George, from the infant's christening to the family's first Christmas card together. When the Duke and Duchess pay an official visit to India in the spring, royal fans hope that they'll bring along their two children. In other royal happenings, Her Majesty surpassed Queen Victoria as the longest-reigning British monarch in history, a milestone that she told others she'd prefer not to make a fuss over. Prince George Dabbles In Vintage When Prince William carried his son, Prince George on to Buckingham Palace’s balcony for the 2015 Trooping of the Colour, something about George’s outfit looked very familiar. In fact, Kensington Palace confirmed that William wore the exact same thing to the parade in 1984. According to What Kate’s Kids Wore, the outfit may be older than that; Charles wore something very similar in a 1950 photo of Cecil Beaton. 3. One Is Happy And Glorious At about 5:30 local time on September 9th, 2015, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning British monarch in history, surpassing her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria. Her Majesty carried on an engagement that day, treating it as business as usual. “Many, including you First Minister, have also kindly noted another significance attaching to today, although it is not one to which I have ever aspired,” the Queen told crowds at Edinburgh Waverley Train Station in Scotland. “Inevitably, a long life can pass by many milestones. My own is no exception. But I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness.” 4. Well, This is Awkward The Sun releaved family footage of the Queen, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Edward VIII in 1933 making a Nazi salute. “Most people will see these pictures in their proper context and time,” a palace source told the Daily Mail of the footage. “This is a family playing and momentarily referencing a gesture many would have seen from contemporary news reels. No one at that time had any sense how it would evolve. To imply anything else is misleading and dishonest.” 5. What Smells? Prince George held his baby sister, Charlotte as the Duchess of Cambridge took the first official photos of the Princess at the family’s Norfolk home. 6. Prince Harry’s Remarkable Work After ending his ten-year career with the army in June, Prince Harry focused his efforts on charitable endeavors. One of them was supporting a 1,000-mile trek through the UK for Walking With The Wounded, an organization that focuses on helping wounded vets recover from their injuries. In this particular shot, Harry embraced a vet who gave him a dog tag belonging to her fallen comrade. It was a touching moment between the two, and signified Harry’s dedication to the cause. Blac Chyna Still Claims Future Blac Chyna isn’t going to let a little thing like getting publicly curved by the man she’s dating block her happiness! After she revealed some fresh ink marking her as Future’s main lil one the other day, Future made a point to publicly announce that he wasn’t claiming anyone at the moment — and the social media roast of Blac Chyna began right on schedule. But apparently Chyna’s just rolling with the punches on this one. Second Student Arrested At Spring Valley High For Recording Attack To add insult to heinous injury, the officer at Spring Valley High in South Carolina also arrested the young girl who recorded the assault for daring to speak up when she saw him brutally attack a young girl in her class. 18-year-old Niya Kenny told her local news station that she was disturbed by seeing the officer snatch her classmate out of her chair and violently toss her around like a rag doll. Niya says she cried out when the officer pinned the girl to the ground, and was immediately arrested for showing any concern over her classmate’s well-being: “I was screaming ‘What the f, what the f is this really happening?’ I was praying out loud for the girl. I just couldn’t believe this was happening I was just crying and he said, ‘since you have so much to say you are coming too.’ I just put my hands behind my back.” Well seeing what the officer thinks is an appropriate way to detain nonviolent young Black girls, complying and putting her hands behind her back seemed to be the best move in this case. Niya also shared that this officer had a reputation for violently escalating situations…to the point where he garnered the nickname “Officer Slam.” As she shared with MSNBC (starting at the 4:30 mark) : “I’ve heard about him, so I wasn’t really surprised, because I’ve heard so much about him. Before he came to the class, I was actually telling [classmates], ‘Take out your cameras because I feel like this is gonna go downhill because I’ve heard so much about him.’” “He’s known as ‘Officer Slam’ around our school,” Kenny replied. “I’ve heard he’s in the past slammed pregnant women, teenage girls. He’s known for slamming.” You have to wonder what else has been going on at this school when no cell phones were running…and why administration has been allowing it long enough for him to form a reputation. Spring Valley Student Brutally Assaulted By White School Resource Officer Spring Valley High School officials and local deputies are investigating after a video supposedly taken at the high school shows a confrontation between a Black female student and the school’s resource officer . Via Live 5 News : School officials confirm the incident happened on Monday, but stopped short of releasing further details. According to Sheriff Leon Lott, the school resource officer was acting in response to a student who was refusing to leave class. “The student was told she was under arrest for disturbing school and given instructions which she again refused,” Lott said. “The video then shows the student resisting and being arrested by the SRO.” The video shows the officer approaching the girl sitting at a desk in a classroom. The officer grabs the girl’s arm while putting his own arm around the student’s neck. A struggle ensues, and the girl falls on the floor before being dragged away and out of the view of the camera. Parents of students at Spring Valley High School are already reacting to the video. A group calling themselves the Richland Two Black Parents Association called the video “egregious” and “unacceptable.” “Parents are heartbroken as this is just another example of the intolerance that continues to be of issue in Richland School District Two particularly with families and children of color,” the statement said. “As we have stated in the past, we stand ready to work in collaboration to address these horrible acts of violence and inequities among our children”. The rumor of I Am Cait Season 2 has turned into a confirmed reality. A month after word leaked that E! had picked up the series for a second season, the star herself has come out and issued a statement. I Am Cait debuted in July to 3.9 million viewers, but that figure dropped by 700,000 households after just one episode. While ratings failed to match those of Keeping Up with the Kardashians , though, Caitlyn has only seen her national profile gain momentum over the past several months. She just signed on, in fact, for a five-city motivational speaking tour . “Caitlyn’s story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before,” said E! EVP, programming and development, Jeff Olde. “We are honored Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing evolution with our viewers around the world.” Jenner, of course, came out as a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer in late April and then in a subsequent Vanity Fair photo spread.
