According to a new report, the venue will be heavily guarded to avoid a breakout of issues that occurred last week during a vigil for Hussle. TMZ reports : Sources familiar with Nipsey’s Celebration of Life at the Staples Center arena this Thursday tell us there will be an abundance of security from multiple agencies and organizations — all with the intention of keeping the memorial peaceful and drama-free. We’re told security on hand Thursday will feature a mix of muscle — from members of the LAPD, members of the Nation of Islam, as well as Staples Center personnel. Our sources say the LAPD is only on hand to offer assistance … helping to move traffic, keep the peace and to step in if needed. The reason for such a strong presence … our sources say a big part of it has to do with Nipsey’s family’s wishes in wanting to prevent further violence — especially in the wake of the chaos that broke out at Nipsey’s L.A. vigil last week … which cops now say left 2 people shot. According to a search warrant — obtained by TMZ — cops are still on the hunt for the person who allegedly pulled the trigger with the intent of killing others. Source: John Greim / Getty Good Samaritan Killed Inside Florida Waffle House You KNOW when both Florida AND Waffle House are in a headline that some f**ks**t is afoot. According to the Gainesville Sun , 25-year-old Ezekiel Luke Hicks is the primary suspect in the murder of a generous man named Craig Arttez Brewer. The 41-year-old Brewer was shot to death inside a Waffle House early Sunday morning where he was paying for customers’ food and giving out $20 bills. How could this have possibly gone left you ask? Welp… Brewer’s generosity didn’t extend to one woman in particular who became angry that she wasn’t the beneficiary of a random act of kindness. An argument ensued and Hicks stepped in to confront Brewer. After yet another argument, Hicks left the restaurant to get a gun, the two men caught yet ANOTHER fade prior to Hicks shooting Brewer multiple times including once in the head. Says sheriff’s Lt. Brett Rhodenizer: “The evidence in the case is fairly straightforward. We’re working with the state attorney. It’s pretty obvious. We have on video what happened,” Rhodenizer said. “There was at least one gunshot to the head but the medical examiner will offer authoritative information on that. “What we’re trying to find out in the days ahead is if this was truly a verbal argument that turned into a murder case or if there is something missing there.” Hicks has been charged with first degree murder. It also involves husband Kevin Hunter’s alleged longtime mistress giving birth to a baby girl last month. It’s been an especially difficult time for the 54-year-old, and while some former friends, including Charlamagne Tha God, haven’t been shy about speaking on her situation, Braxton, who has a more positive relationship with the talk show host, has been mum in support — publicly and privately. She admitted she hasn’t reached out because she feels like Williams needs her space to figure things out. “I haven’t. You just, kind of, got to go through it and then reach out to people.” For those who might question whether or not the two are actually friends, there is evidence that they are. Braxton has been on her show a number of times. She’s even used the platform to reveal private things, including that she had been molested growing up and that she was also seeing someone new (her current boyfriend, whom she refers to as T’Challa). Williams was also invited to the studio to listen to new tracks from Braxton’s Bluebird of Happiness album before it was released in 2017. Williams was so overwhelmed by the song “Blind” that she broke down in tears. It is a very touchy situation, but maybe having to explain why she hasn’t called her girl will motivate Braxton to do so sooner than later. It’s been a little over a week since the death of Nipsey Hussle. The rapper was gunned down outside of his own store “Marathon” in South LA. Friends, family and fans alike attested to the greatest that was Nispey. While the world has been mourning the loss of a rapper his family has been preparing for a memorial service. Source: Michael Short / Getty Oprah Is Donating $2 Million To Charities In Puerto Rico Oprah Winfrey is joining in on the efforts to help Puerto Rico in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The island has not yet fully recovered from the 2017 storm, which caused 3,000 deaths and billions of dollars in damage. The people of Puerto Rico need all the help they can get, and because of that, Oprah is donating $2 million — $1 million to Hispanic Federation and another $1 million to the Flamboyan Arts Fund, according to reports from The Oprah Magazine. “I was so moved by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s commitment to bring ‘Hamilton’ to Puerto Rico and support the community that served him growing up that I wanted to join in the revitalization efforts of an island so rich in culture, beauty, and heritage,” the mogul said in a statement. “The needs of Puerto Rico and our fellow American citizens following the tragic hurricanes are still very real, and the work that has already been done by the Hispanic Federation, Flamboyan Arts Fund and other organizations on and off the island is long from over.” Winfrey and her best friend Gayle King traveled to Puerto Rico to watch a performance of Hamilton earlier this year. Since the destruction of the hurricane, recovery and fundraising efforts have been coming steadily from a lot of stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Daddy Yankee, Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and so many more. The people of Puerto Rico still need a lot of help, but Oprah’s recent donation will definitely be a huge step in the right direction.
