Bethenny Frankel is fortunate to be alive at the moment. The veteran Real Housewives cast member documented on Twitter yesterday how she very nearly died the day before after taking a sip of some fish soup. That may sounds like the punchline to a joke, but we’re being very serious. “I have rare fish allergy,” Frankel explained on social media on Monday, adding in a bit more detail: “Sun,I had soup,itched & was unconscious for 15 mins then to ER & ICU for 2 days w BP of 60/40.I couldn’t talk,see, thought I had a stroke & dying & told if 5 mins later I’d be dead. “911 & EPI saved me.I’ll never not carry an #epipen.” Unconcious for 15 minutes?!? That’s crazy. And crazy scary. In another tweet, Bethenny referred to Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts, as the best hospital she has ever visited, adding, “I am so grateful.” And now she’s on a mission to get better mattresses for the facility. This is what she wrote in response to a few questions and comments on Twitter: As for the allergy that nearly ended her life? “It’s very unusual & confusion so I keep it to myself bc it is hard to describe,” she told a followers. According to the audio of the 911 call placed on Frankel’s, which has been obtained by The Blast, officials noted that a 48-year-old woman was suffering from a fish allergy and was “losing consciousness.” Thankfully, paramedics arrived in time to get Bethenny to the hospital. We’re sure she’ll be more careful in the future, but you never never fully know what is in an item of food. To wit, Real Housewives of New York viewers witnessed Frankel suffer through another allergic reaction on the show back in season 10, after the cast took a group vaction to Colombia. At the time, Bethenny consumed soup that, unbeknownst to her, contained fish. She excused herself from the lunch table, went back to her room and vomited. “It’s the worst feeling,” she said on the show. “Your throat gets itchy, you feel like you’re going to throw up. It’s like a poison inside you.” Even before this latest frightening incident, it had been a very rough year for Frankel. On August 10, her on again/off again boyfriend Dennis Shields died at 51 of an apparent prescription drug overdose. “It’s hard to breathe and I appreciate you giving me the space & support to try to do so,” Frankel tweeted a couple weeks later , telling fans at the time: “It’s excruciating – death is no closure and constant [questions] & memories. Our relationship is current, so it’s painfully raw. Trying to stay healthy & move through it w tears & close friends.” We continue to wish Frankel the best and are so glad she is still with us. The Real Housewives of New York City Season 11, meanwhile, will likely premiere in April of 2019.
