Ho Sit Down: GOP Chairman Charlie Webster Says He’s Sorry For Saying “Black People Don’t Even Live In This Part Of Maine”

SMH at this guy… According to Politico: Maine GOP Chairman Charlie Webster has apologized for alleging widespread voter fraud by mysterious groups of black people in rural parts of the state. “It was my intention to talk not about race but about perceived voting irregularities,” Webster said in a statement, according to the Portland Press Herald . “However, my comments were made without proof of wrongdoing, and they had the unintended consequence of casting aspersions on an entire group of Americans. For that, I am truly sorry.” Earlier this week, Webster told a local television station that “In some parts of rural Maine, there were dozens, dozens of black people who came in and voted on Election Day. Everybody has a right to vote, but nobody in town knows anyone who’s black.” Maine’s Democratic Party chairman called the comments “racist,” and the state’s NAACP chapters called them “offensive and insulting.” Webster, a longtime opponent of same-day voter registration, said he was going to investigate the alleged fraud by sending thank-you notes to voters who registered on Election Day. If the notes were returned, he would know the addresses were falsified. In his statement Thursday, he said he was dropping the plan to investigate. Webster’s apology amounted to a sudden reversal. As late as Thursday afternoon, he was still defending his comments in an interview with Talking Points Memo. “There’s nothing about me that would be discriminatory,” he said . “I know black people. I play basketball every Sunday with a black guy. He’s a great friend of mine. Nobody would ever accuse me of suggesting anything.” Really, homeboy???

Colorado Legalizes Marijuana: Right or Wrong?

Lost in the commotion over President Obama’s reelection : Colorado Amendment 64 legalized marijuana in the Rocky Mountain State on Election Day. Yes … the term “Rocky Mountain High” just took on a new meaning. Amendment 64, a measure seeking the legalization of marijuana for recreational use by adults, was passed by Colorado voters in a statewide reefer-endum (sorry). This makes Colorado the first U.S. state to end marijuana prohibition. Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, a vocal opponent to the bill to legalize pot , reacted to the passage of A64 in a statement late Tuesday night: “The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will.” “This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through. That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don’t break out the Cheetos or Goldfish too quickly.” Awesome quote. Indeed, the passage of the state measure is without historical precedent and the consequences and implementation will likely be closely-watched around the world. Although Colorado “legalized it,” it will be several months, perhaps as long as a year, before Colorado adults over the age of 21 can enjoy the legal sale of marijuana. It is unclear how the amendment’s passage will be reconciled with existing federal law, or how the drug will be legally sold and regulated in the state. What do you think? Is legalization of marijuana a good idea?   Yes No Maybe View Poll »

Balding Bigot Rush Limbaugh Calls Gov. Chris Christie “A Fat Fool” For Working With President Obama To Aid Hurricane Sandy Victims

Rush Limbaugh Calls Governor Christie ‘A Fat Fool’ For Hurricane Sandy Bi-Partisan Actions Meat-headed motor mouth Rush Limbaugh is doing what he does best and talking that talk in the worst way. This time the political prude targeted Republican NJ Governor Chris Christie for putting politics aside to work with President Obama in efforts to aid Hurricane Sandy victims . via Comedy Central President Barack Obama and Governor Chris Christie took a brotherly tour of New Jersey yesterday, each praising the others’ leadership as they surveyed damage in the state. But why the sudden comity? Why doesn’t Chris Christie reject federal aid in lieu of Mitt Romney’s canned garbanzo beans from Ohio? Or criticize the president for failing to appoint a horse judge as FEMA director? Or invite Paul Ryan into the state to cleanup all the debris that has already been cleared by DPW workers, like a real conservative leader? It could be that Christie actually cares about the state he governs, though Rush Limbaugh has an alternate explanation… “He’s fat and a fool. Don’t listen to Governor Christie. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about… “Christie’s the only Republican not just praising Obama, it’s a — let’s just put it this way. Is it wrong for one man to love another man? But that man love out there is isolated in the state of New Jersey.” Though this Comedy Central blog put this idiot Limbaugh on full blast in the most hilarious way possible, this fool needs to reign in his fawkery on a serious note and join his fellow douchebag Donald Trump in the aint-isht-people-of-the-year corner.

Shaking It For Uncle Sam? NY Court To Decide If Dancing For Dollars Qualifies For Tax Exempt Status At Gentleman’s Club

Who knew there was a tax loophole for lap dances ? They may never be confused with “Swan Lake,” but an upstate New York gentleman’s club says its in the buff lap dances are every bit as much an art form and should be exempt from state taxes. So far, the state tax department and an appeals court disagree and want the Nite Moves club in Albany to pay up $124,000 it says it owes taxes. New York’s highest court gets a shot at the arguments Wednesday when the two sides face off at the Court of Appeals. Tax officials say sales taxes were paid on the club’s nonalcoholic drinks, but are also owed on admission and so-called “couch sales,” where patrons pay for private or lap dances. Nite Moves claims the dances are exempt under state tax law as “live dramatic or musical arts performances.” The exemption also applies to theater or ballet. The club is relying on testimony from a cultural anthropologist who has studied exotic dance and visited Nite Moves. W. Andrew McCullough, an attorney for Nite Moves, said the impact of the eventual court ruling probably won’t be widespread because most establishments featuring freaky dancers sell alcohol where other tax rules apply. An administrative law judge previously agreed with Nite Moves, saying that “the fact that the dancers remove all or part of their costume … simply does not render such dance routines as something less than choreographed performances.” But the state Tax Appeals Tribunal said the club didn’t present sufficient proof that it qualifies for the exemption, and a mid-level court upheld the tribunal ruling last year. “In our view, there can be no serious question that — at a bare minimum — petitioner failed to meet its burden of establishing that the private dances offered at its club were choreographed performances,” the Appellate Division court ruled. The four justices also found “no merit” to the club’s constitutional claims. The appellate court also noted that the club dancers are not required to have any formal dance training and that the anthropologist didn’t see any of the dances done in private rooms. Cary Ziter, a spokesman for the state Department of Taxation and Finance, said the agency is not aware of any other cases in state court similar to the Nite Moves case. He said the tax department doesn’t know how many so-called gentlemen’s clubs operate in New York. Angelina Spencer, executive director of the Association of Club Executives, told CNN recently there are about 4,000 adult nightclubs in the U.S. The top court typically takes about a month to issue a decision. This sounds downright ridiculous but if it works, do you think more young ladies might become “dancers” to avoid paying Uncle Sam? Source

Penn State Outlaws Playing of "Sweet Caroline" at Football Games

Penn State University is doing all it can to separate itself from the Jerry Sandusky scandal, which has sent that pedophile to jail , resulted in unprecedented sanctions against the football team and led to new uniforms for the players. How will the fans feel the effects of this sordid situation? Penn State announced this week that it has outlawed the playing of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” at home football games, a single used as a traditional sing-a-long on campus for many years. Track lyrics, as heard below, include the line “touching me, touching you,” and… well… we don’t need to explain why some might see that as inappropriate now, do we?
