U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delivers a speech “Frontlines and Frontiers: Making Human Rights a Human Reality” at Dublin City University in Ireland December 6, 2012. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton suffered a blood clot in a vein between her brain and skull behind her right ear but is expected to make a full recovery, her doctors said on Monday in a statement released by the State Department. Clinton did not suffer a stroke or neurological damage as a result of the clot, th
She embezzled the money to buy McDonald’s and Subway sandwiches. SMH. And according to The Huffington Post , this kind of theft is running rampant in our school systems: A former secretary at a New York City high school is facing $9,000 in fines for inappropriately spending public dollars, mostly on fast food and “dozens of visits to McDonald’s,” according to the New York Daily News. Kappry Vera resigned from Manhattan’s Urban Assembly School for Construction and Design in August 2011 when school officials started investigating her suspicious spending, according to the Daily News. The school’s principal noticed “questionable purchases” on the city-funded credit card intended for school purchases. The purchases totaled more than $3,000 in personal spending between August 2009 and May 2011. Vera dropped hundreds of dollars at joints like Subway and Burger King. Trips to McDonald’s, up to four times a day, totaled $765. Vera’s embezzlement charge comes nearly a year after Bronx principal Liza Cruz Diaz was removed from PS 31 over allegations that she stole about $5,000 from the school. Investigators said Cruz Diaz used some of the money to pay for her daughter’s “Sweet 16″ party and deleted financial records when she became aware of the probe. Employee siphoning of public dollars for private use plagues districts nationwide. A Pennsylvania audit of the York City School District last November found that the district misspent nearly $1 million in federal taxpayer money on items just sitting in storage. Items purchased by the district include 16 boxes of hula hoops, three greenhouses, Wii video game systems, dozens of laptops, expired tickets to Hersheypark, and 10 boxes of stopwatches. In Massachusetts, the state auditor has called for sweeping reform of financial accountability for the state’s 30 special education agencies after her office found several of the collaboratives had misused millions of public dollars. The most egregious offender was the Merrimack Special Education Collaborative, which auditors found to have spent $26.7 million in “inadequately documented and potentially unallowable expenses,” like $1,255 on alcohol, $18,284 on meals and entertainment, $142 for 30 pounds of swordfish for a special education director’s cookout, numerous purchases totaling $5,735 in golf-related charges, and $4,576 on vehicle expenses, including gasoline “for what appears to be a personal vehicle.” Damn…no wonder there’s never any money for science equipment or basic school supplies. Girl Meets Engagement Ring and College Diploma. Danielle Fishel is officially a college graduate, the 31-year-old Boy Meets World turned Girls Meets World star revealed this week via her Tumblr page. She also got engaged recently, she confirmed! “Yeah, I’m super proud of myself :)” she said. As well she should be. Fishel returned to college at age 27, noting that she tried to do so several times but “could never follow through and actually go.” “I was too afraid of being the old lady in class, being whispered about, and especially of not remembering how to do simple math equations,” she says. “After my 27th birthday, I made the decision to stop letting fear be a factor in fulfilling my dreams, so with a little encouragement from friends and family, I enrolled. And I went.” Now she’s a college grad – and rocking a huge engagement ring (and a beer) like a BOSS in the photo above. So who’s the lucky guy who put a ring on it? “I persevered and sometimes I wasn’t the oldest person in class, some of the whisperers became good friends, and I did so well in math, I even became a tutor,” she adds. “And that is how I met my fiancé. :)” Interesting! And congratulations! As you’ve likely heard, Fishel is now shooting a pilot for Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World , which will reunite her with Ben Savage as Topanga and Cory Matthews. More than a decade after the end of Boy Meets World, the show will be told from the perspective of Cory and Topanga’s teenage daughter, Riley.
She may be 40 years old, but Jenny McCarthy Playboy photos released earlier this year make it clear as a cloudless day: This model can still bring it! And McCarthy is out to prove that again on the cover of the latest Shape , rising her tanktop just enough to reveal a startling set of abs. Damn! Girl, you go… How does the blonde bombshell remain so fit? She cites her “soup diet” in the article, telling the magazine: “I make a ton of nutritious ones, like butternut squash and vegetable. When I want to drop 5 pounds quickly, I eat them for every meal for about 10 days.” (NOTE: For those seeking actual sustenance that is healthy, we recommend a Roasted Chicken Recipe and an Easy Salmon Recipe .) McCarthy also works out three times per weeks and has cut down on cigarettes and coffee. But she does have her vices. “Chinese food and pizza! There’s this place in Chicago called Giordano’s which has the best deep-dish pizza in the world. It’s my therapist, my best friend, and my boyfriend on Friday nights,” McCarthy says.
Authorities have arrested America’s “Most Wanted” deadbeat dad, according to reports. Robert Sand, 50, of New York, was arrested upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday after being deported from the Philippines. He is believed to owe more than $1.2 million in child support. Over the last 10 years, Sand has underreported his income and moved from New York to Florida to Thailand to evade child support payments. Surprisingly, he has “only” three children from two previous marriages. Sand was taken into custody in the Philippines earlier this week. The Office of the Inspector General maintains a list of the most wanted deadbeat parents with info about their possible whereabouts and the sum of money they owe. Until Tuesday, Sand and his seven-figure debts topped the federal list. They have since updated Sand’s mugshot with a “captured” banner. Thank goodness.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently fainted and suffered a concussion , which has critics of this fall’s debacle in Benghazi, Libya, crying foul. Some even suggested that Clinton faked it to avoid potentially embarrassing testimony, but this has been slammed by aides as “wild speculation.” Former United Nations envoy John Bolton was ripped by the State Department today for speculation that Hillary Clinton may have pulled a fast one. Bolton speculated on Fox News that Clinton’s claim of fainting and suffering a concussion amounts to what foreign service officers call a “diplomatic illness.” “This is a ‘diplomatic illness’ to beat the band,” said Bolton, who served under George W. Bush. “I mean, I hope it’s nothing serious. But this thing was revealed in a way that I think was not transparent and I think there is an obligation here.” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland blasted the Clinton speculation Tuesday, calling Bolton’s “diplomatic illness” accusation “completely untrue.” “I can assure you, he’s not privy to any inside information,” Nuland said, calling Bolton’s criticism “wild speculation based on no information.” She also reported that Clinton is currently “on the mend.” Still, Clinton speculation in the media is at an all-time high, with many noting that her “diplomatic illness” is at the very least conveniently timed. The Benghazi attack resulted in the death of four Americans and a lot of finger-pointing about who in the administration knew what and when. Scandal or no scandal, it represents one of the few blemishes on Clinton’s record as the nation’s top diplomat, and one she’d just as soon not revisit. The New York Post called it “one of the most transparent dodges in the history of diplomacy,” and The Daily Caller called for a medical report. What do you think of the Clinton speculation: Is Bolton right-on with his “diplomatic illness” claim, or is it just a case of bad timing (and falling)? She may just be too busy running the world …
Police Officer Fired For Writing Fake DUI Tickets To Meet Quota A Utah state trooper who was recently honored for the number of slizzard citizens she got off the road has now been sent packing after an investigation revealed that most of her “convictions” turned out to be fake. via AOL News State troopers put their lives on the line every day. And the act of pulling someone over on a highway can be a deadly experience for any cop not following the best protocols. But police are also under great pressure to generate ticket revenue for their cities, counties and states, and their zeal to hit revenue targets can lead them to do the wrong thing. So says a class action suit filed against the State of Utah and a specific state trooper who is accused of writing “driving under the influence” tickets when they weren’t impaired. State trooper Lisa Steed was honored inside the state police force for busting an extraordinary number of drunk drivers. But some of her convictions were subsequently over-turned, and the trooper was reprimanded and then fired for making false arrests. Since Steed’s performance and punishment were reported, dozens of people who were convicted have been signing up with lawyers for a class action suit. People convicted of DUI lost money, cars and trailers and even jobs, according to ABC 4 News/Salt Lake City. Aren’t there enough ACTUAL drunk drivers on the road for one-time to focus on? SMH. Pamela can’t jiggle her way out this one… Pamela Anderson Owes Back Taxes Via TMZ reports : Pam Anderson REALLY should have tried harder to win “Dancing with the Stars” (and its cash prize) … ’cause girl was just slapped with TWO tax liens totaling over $370k — and could probably use the money. Tax Lien #1: Filed by the IRS, says Pam owes $259,395.75 for unpaid taxes in 2011. Tax Lien #2: Filed by the State of CA, says Pam owes $112,118.90 — also for 2011. All totaled, the “DWTS: All Stars” star — who got axed in round one this time — needs to cough up $371,514.65. But this isn’t Pam’s first run-in with tax problems. The actress had another lien filed against her back in 2009 for $1.7 MILLION. And at one point, her name even appeared on the Golden State’s list of “Top 500 Delinquent Tax Payers.” Anderson’s rep had no comment. Why do all these stars seem to think that paying taxes is optional? You all aren’t special. Get off your Hollyweird azzes and pay your taxes. Stop blaming your accountants as well. You sign the checks. If you didn’t sign one for the IRS you might want to find out why.
Poor thang was set to judge “America’s Next Top Rapper” for an online competition… According to The Grio , the lawsuit sounds like somebody’s asking for a little too much in damages: Female rapper Trina has been sued for $50 million in damages after allegedly pulling out of an agreement to appear as a judge during an event called “America’s Next Top Rapper,” according to Hip Hop DX. The suit claims that Trina agreed to be a judge on the online streaming video platform and competition where an aspiring rapper can win $20,000, a Universal distribution deal and a “hit production team.” According to Courthouse News Service, Omnipresent Media and Lawrence Wright filed suit against the Miami rapper, her managing agent Rarebreed Entertainment, its principle Josh Burke, the State of Florida and J Ego Entertainment and Nunoise Travel. Omnipresent, the company running the competition, said that Trina agreed to judge the competition and then backed out of the show, which was supposed to be held on December 30, 2011. Trina and her management team allegedly failed to send promotional videos they agreed to send and asked for more money for travel expenses. Some attendees became unruly and heckled competition participants when they heard of Trina’s absence. How you gonna sue her for $50 mill when you’re grand prize was $20k?!?!? Images via tumblr
