Prince Shares Epic Passport Photo It’s a rare occasion that any of us take an id photo that we’re actually proud of. But not Prince . In fact, the R&B legend’s ID photo game is so flawless — in all it’s perfectly eye-lined and lip-glossed glory — that he decided to flaunt his flyness to his millions of Twitter followers late last week. It follows all the same guidelines that passport photos outline…but simultaneously tells the agent checking it to bow down. Via Time : While most people have to learn to live with passport photos that make them look like deer caught in the headlights, Prince is not most people. The Purple One recently posted a picture on Twitter that he claimed is the current snapshot for his international travel permit, and it’s pretty flawless to say the least. While Prince presumably had to get his passport updated in order to travel for his upcoming “Piano & A Microphone” tour in Australia and New Zealand, there’s no reason he had to make the rest of us look so bad. In fact, the 57-year-old singer isn’t even adhering to the State Department’s criteria for a neutral facial expression, as he is clearly giving his best Blue Steel. Now that we know that’s allowed, our next passport pics are sure to come out exactly like this. Maybe we’ll go get professional headshots for our next passport pics as well…and serve a face. Lawmaker Says Protecting LGBT Rights Will Lead To Protecting Pedophile Rights Not sure how you compare the two, but a West Virginia lawmaker did his best when he argued that defending LGBT rights would “open the door to protections for pedophiles.” Via Huffington Post : At a legislative hearing Friday, Republican Del. Tom Fast argued against an amendment to a bill that would ban discrimination against same-sex couples. The non-discrimination amendment (which ultimately failed) was added to a bill that would let Uber operate in the state. “Once homosexual, bisexual and transgender behavior is elevated to a protected status, there is nothing to stop bigamy, pedophilia or any other sexual practice from receiving the same protection,” Fast said. Fast went on to read an article from the Northern Colorado Gazette that purportedly showed pedophiles were “using the same tactics used by gay rights activists.” The West Virginia House of Delegates recently approved the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) by a vote of 72-26. The bill, which allows people to cite religious objections to state actions in certain court proceedings, will now move to the state senate. Democratic opponents to the bill argued that RFRA would restrict the rights of individuals who don’t sexually identify as straight. “If sexual orientation laws become commonplace, then any person who speaks against sexual practice will be vilified,” Fast said. “Their rights will be thwarted, and their freedom of religion of conscience will be crushed.” Do YOU think protecting gay rights will eventually lead to protecting pedophile rights?

Black mental health matters… MarShawn McCarrel Commits Suicide An activist in the Black Lives Matter movement has died. MarShawn McCarrel, 23, killed himself Monday outside the steps of Ohio’s statehouse after posting on social media that his “demons won.” Prior to his death he was celebrated for his work in raising awareness on Ohio’s homelessness and was named one of Radio One’s Hometown Champions. The New York Daily News reports: A Black Lives Matter activist killed himself on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse, authorities said. MarShawn McCarrel, 23, shot himself in front of the Columbus building Monday evening, Lt. Craig Cvetan of the State Highway Patrol told the Columbus Dispatch. “My demons won today. I’m sorry,” the activist, who recently attended the NAACP Image Awards, posted on his Facebook page about 3 p.m., just hours before his body was found near the Statehouse. His last tweet read: “Let the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left.” No one witnessed the shooting, Cvetan said. McCarrel was pronounced dead at the scene. McCarrel, who had recently worked with Black Lives Matter, helped organize protests in Ohio after a Missouri cop shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in 2014. He also founded youth mentorship program Pursuing Our Dreams, which launched Feed the Streets, a project to help Ohio’s homeless. He attended the NAACP’s Image Awards on Friday, Pursuing Our Dreams wrote on its Facebook. So, so sad to hear that this young brother took his own life. Condolences to the family.
