Former Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is now a married woman. The actress exchanged vows over the weekend with Christine Marinoni, the woman to whom she got engaged three years ago during a rally to support same-sex marriage in New York. A bill allowing for just that was passed in the summer of 2011. Confirms Nixon’s rep to People : “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.” Nixon – who has two children from a previous relationship and one with Marinoni, an education activist – created a stir earlier this year when she said homosexuality is a choice . She then went on to amend the statement and explain she was only referring to her own experience. [Photo: WENN.com]

Dick Clark passed away this morning after suffering a major heart attack. He had been in St. John’s hospital in L.A. for an outpatient procedure last night. The seemingly ageless show business legend, who earned the nickname “America’s Oldest Teenager” well into retirement age for most people, was 82. Clark’s rep confirm that the TV icon suffered the “massive” heart attack following the procedure, and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. The Mount Vernon, N.Y. native was a powerhouse producer who changed the way America listened to pop music with American Bandstand in the ’50s and ’60s. He then started Dick Clark Productions, which produced countless hits. Clark became synonymous with everything from The $25,000 Pyramid to TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes to the American Music Awards … and December 31. Clark’s health had been declining ever since he suffered a major stroke in 2004, forcing him to retire from his hosting gig at New Years’ Rockin’ Eve . Clark created the NYE staple in 1972, and has continued appeared on the show every year, even after passing the hosting torch to Ryan Seacrest. Dick, who also battled Type 2 Diabetes, is survived by his current wife, Kari Wigton, and three adult children from his two previous marriages. He will be missed by generations of fans.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is losing an original cast member. Sheree Whitfield tells Wet Paint she’s exiting the series after four difficult seasons as a Bravo star. And, as you can tell by her statement below, she’s doing it with her ego fully intact: “After four solid seasons of helping Bravo build the show into its most successful Housewives franchise, I have decided to leave. The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness. “I want to be part of something that empowers and inspires women to not only be healthy, but to treat themselves with respect. I wish the rest of the women the best of luck.” During the recently-wrapped fourth season, Whitfield battled with her ex for child support, while she has memorably clashed over the years with castmates NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak. Will you miss Sheree on The Real Housewives of Atlanta?
Ryan O’Neal has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. “Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer,” said the actor, who has successfully battled leukemia, in a statement released by his rep. “Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel deeply fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery,” the statement adds. “I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many.” O’Neal, 70, was treated in the late 1990s for myelogenous leukemia, which causes the bone marrow to produce too many white blood cells. ‘After difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct ‘Catching Fire,’ ‘ Ross says in a statement. By Katie Byrne and Kara Warner Gary Ross Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ Getty Images A roller-coaster week for “The Hunger Games” just got even bumpier: Director Gary Ross has officially announced he won’t direct the sequel, “Catching Fire.” The week began positively enough, with “The Hunger Games” topping the box office for the third weekend in a row, earning nearly $303 million since its debut. But that news was quickly followed Monday with a surprising Playlist story claiming Ross wouldn’t return for the movie adaptation of “Catching Fire,” a report that has now been confirmed via statements from Ross himself and “Games” studio Lionsgate. “Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct ‘Catching Fire,’ ” Ross said in his statement. “As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule. “I loved making ‘The Hunger Games’ — it was the happiest experience of my professional life,” the statement continued. “Lionsgate was supportive of me in a manner that few directors ever experience in a franchise: they empowered me to make the film I wanted to make and backed the movie in a way that requires no explanation beyond the remarkable results. And contrary to what has been reported, negotiations with Lionsgate have not been problematic. They have also been very understanding of me through this difficult decision.” Lionsgate echoed Ross’ disappointment in the ended “Games” partnership: “We’re very sorry that Gary Ross has chosen not to direct Catching Fire. We were really looking forward to making the movie with him. He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work. This will not be the end of our relationship, as we consider Ross to be part of the Lionsgate family and look forward to working with him in the future.” Ross’ heartfelt sentiments did not end with his thanks to the studio. “I also cannot say enough about the people I worked with: Producer Nina Jacobson, a great collaborator and a true friend; the brilliant Suzanne Collins, who entrusted us with her most amazing and important story; the gifted and remarkable Jennifer Lawrence whose performance exceeded my wildest expectations, and the rest of the incredible cast, whom I am proud to call my friends,” he added in his statement. “To the fans I want to say thank you for your support your faith, your enthusiasm and your trust. Hard as this may be to understand I am trying to keep that trust with you. Thank you all. It’s been a wonderful experience.” There will likely be a long list of directors gunning to fill Ross’ shoes, but until we receive word of an official list of names, we have a very well-thought-out list of our own we hope Lionsgate considers. This Koon Dances On Camera During Burglary… Later Picked Up And Recognized From His “Signature Moves” [Video] This guy is a piece of work: The so-called “Dancing Burglar,” a teenager who was caught on camera busting a move during a burglary, was arrested Thursday, Galveston police said. Security video shows the boy dancing at the scene of a Duck tour truck burglary in Galveston. After the video hit the air, Galveston police got a call from police at Ball High School. “When we saw his moves, when we saw his swag, we immediately knew we were dealing with a smooth criminal,” said Cpt. Jeff Heyse. Ball High School officers said they recognized the suspect’s moves and sent Galveston police to the home of a 16-year-old student. “We went to his house, he was there, we showed his mother the video, his mother called him out to the living room,” he said. “She looked toward the suspect and said, ‘signature dance move what’s that?’ and he goes, ‘that’s my swag momma,’ that was part of the, I guess, confession.” Charges were pending against the 16-year-old and two adults. Police said the name of the “dancing burglar” won’t be released because he is a juvenile. Police said the thieves took a fire extinguisher. Turn the page to see the incriminating video.
You’s a lying cheating son of a… Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino crashed his motorcycle on Sunday, and although he survived the near fatal accident; recent allegations about the his trifilin’ azz ways may have him wishing otherwise. According to the police report, which was published by the Arkansas Times, Petrino was not alone on his bike as he and the university had described. Arkansas released this statement after the accident: Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. Our family appreciates respect for our privacy during the recovery and we are grateful for the thoughts of Razorback fans at this time. Not so fast there… According to the police report, 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell was on the back of Petrino’s motorcycle at the time of the crash. As if this development wasn’t curious enough, Dorrell, a former volleyball player, just started her job working as the student-athlete coordinator for the Arkansas football team a week ago. After being exposed for the low-down dirty lyin’ Razorback, Petrino released this statement after being put on paid suspension: “The state police report today provides an accurate description of my accident, which includes details that had not publically come to light prior to the report being issued. I regret that I have not publically acknowledged a passenger on the vehicle. I have been in constant pain, medicated and the circumstances involving the wreck have come out in bits and pieces. That said I certainly had a concern about Jessica Dorrell’s name being revealed. In my press conference, I referred to her simply as ‘a lady’. My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public. In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details. Today, I’ve acknowledged this previous inappropriate relationship with my family and those within the athletic department administration. I apologize to my wife, Becky, and our four children, Chancellor (David) Gearhart, Jeff Long, the Board of Trustees, University administration, my coaching staff, student-athletes and the entire state of Arkansas. I have been humbled by the outpouring of concern and get-well wishes. I apologize to the Razorback Nation for the attention my actions have brought to the University of Arkansas and our program. I will fully cooperate with the University throughout this process and my hope is to repair my relationships with my family, my Athletic Director, the Razorback Nation and remain the head coach of the Razorbacks.” Poor Becky!
