The-Dream Says He Attempted Suicide When Marriage Unraveled

‘I am human, and people fall in and out of love all the time,’ singer/songwriter says. By Jocelyn Vena The-Dream and Christina Milian in 2009 Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images After announcing their split earlier this week, The-Dream wrote an open letter to his fans about his separation from wife Christina Milian . The pair, who were just married in September , reportedly parted ways late last year but didn’t formally announce it until long after the birth of their daughter, Violet, in March . In the statement titled “In My Own Words,” posted on his website , he wrote, “First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can’t know purpose!” While the letter is long, The-Dream said he wouldn’t address the reasons for the split in the statement. “It’s easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT,” said the singer/songwriter, who is rumored to have been unfaithful to Milian. “I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn’t for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that!” he continued. “There was so much going on in me and Christina’s personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone’s feelings, I carried the weight in secret!” The-Dream says in the statement that he even attempted suicide over the breakup of his marriage. “This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people!” he wrote. “I’ve cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I’ve tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.” He goes on to defend himself, writing, “I am human, and people fall in and out of love all the time. … This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. … I’m sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved!” He finishes the by quoting his mother and signing his given name, Terius Nash. “But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not ‘Superman’ and it’s okay to lose sometimes,” he wrote. “This too shall pass! And everything will be fine!” What do you think of The-Dream’s letter? Tell us in the comments! Let Them Drink Starbucks! Mika Brzezinski Wants a Ban on All Sugary Sodas

It’s pretty well documented MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski likes to brag about her workout routine and showcase its effects on her physique . And perhaps for that reason, Brzezinski believes that entitles her to pass judgment on what consumers should put into their bodies. On MSNBC’s July 6 “Morning Joe,” Brzezinski boasted about San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom’s vending machine soda ban that took effect today . But Brzezinski wanted to take it a step further – not to just ban them in city vending machines, but just stop people from drinking soda altogether. “And in San Francisco, a ban on sugary drinks in city vending machines is starting to take effect,” Brzezinski said. “That’s so great. It was issued by Mayor Gavin Newsom, my new hero, Mike Barnicle — in an effort to combat obesity and improve citizen’s health, and it will. In fact, if people would just not drink soda pop, they would be healthier and less fat.” Perhaps Brzezinski missed irony of making this statement during her show, “Morning Joe brewed by Starbucks Coffee .” Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX ) is regularly under attack from food police group the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) . In 2002, CSPI accused the coffee of giant of “pouring food porn.” “We need to stop producing things like this,” Brzezinski declared. Brzezinski also revealed her other anti-junk food sentiments, but said ultimately getting “rid of soda pop” would be suit her. “I don’t like birthday cake,” Brzezinski said. “It’s fattening. And no cupcakes either in schools. No, just get rid of soda pop. That would make me happy. We don’t need it.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes a Father; Mother Unknown!

An early World Cup exit may have plunged Cristiano Ronaldo into an existential crisis, but Portugal’s national team captain does have other reasons to smile. The soccer stud announced today that he recently became the father of a baby boy, born in June to an anonymous American – and he has exclusive custody! Unfortunately, the mother is not Kim Kardashian . The news appeared on the website of his employer, Real Madrid, and Ronaldo’s Twitter and Facebook pages, and does not appear to be a hoax … we think. “It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy,” read the statement from Ronaldo, who is 25 and unmarried. HAPPY BABY DADDY : While it’s not surprising in the least that Ronaldo impregnated some random girl, the fact that he has sole custody comes out of nowhere . “With the agreement of the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, I will have exclusive custody of my son,” added the world’s highest paid soccer star. “I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy [and that of the child] at least on issues as personal as these are,” Cristiano Ronaldo added. Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha says Ronaldo’s mother and sisters were completing the paperwork necessary to bring the child to Portugal. Ronaldo, whose penchant for group sex and hookers is as well documented as his on-field mastery, sure knows how to score around a goaltender. Congratulations to the new, proud papa!

Out of the Rough: DNA Test Proves Tiger Woods NOT Devon James’ Baby Daddy!

Tiger Woods may have stuck his driver in one too many open bags (if you know what we mean!) – but new evidence proves these extra practice rounds did NOT lead to the one result for which a golfer can never take a mulligan: A baby. Over the last couple weeks, Devon James – mistress number… who the heck knows at this point?!? – has claimed to anyone with a microphone that Tiger is the father of her nine-year old son. She stuck by this statement even after sources confirmed the existence of a DNA test that disproved Woods’ paternity. Now, that test has actually been made public. Giving credit to Kikster.com for breaking the news, TMZ has in its possession documents that say Devon was made aware in 2002 that her son is the child of some dude named Pele Watkins. If there was ever a reason for a fist pump… In fact, according to science, there’s a .001% chance that anyone other than Watkins is the dad. So you can breathe a major sigh of relief, Tiger. To understand how low those odds are, consider: they are the same as Elin ever taking you back.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Dismisses ‘Fake’ ‘Platitudes’ of Conservative Mount Vernon Statement

Liberal MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Monday mocked the Mount Vernon Statement, a conservative declaration of principles as ” a grandiose fake-parchmenty-looking thing .” The anchor first described the document as endorsing “the rule of law, and individual liberty, and opposing tyranny in the world, and the defense of family, neighborhood, community and faith.” [Audio available here .] Maddow then dismissed, “In other words, such generic ‘I love my mama’ platitudes that even a pinko-Commie-liberal-elite-infidel like me would be happy signing on to all but one paragraph of the whole Mount Vernon Statement.” (At one point, Maddow appeared to be mimicking the tone and voice of the late William F. Buckley.) The left-wing host didn’t explain which paragraph she objected to, perhaps it was the one about “limited government” or “market solutions.” However, if it has caught the ire of MSNBC, conservatives might want to learn more about it. To view the entire document, go here . To see prominent conservatives, including MRC President Brent Bozell, read the Mount Vernon Statement, see a previous NewsBusters blog. A transcript of the segment, which aired at 9:05pm EDT on June 21, follows: RACHEL MADDOW: Republicans have made a bunch of efforts in the last year to nail down exactly what it is they want to tell the American people they stand for. Remember the pizza party that Eric Cantor and Mitt Romney hosted last year? That was supposed to be the kickoff for the Republican Party`s new National Council for a New America. The plan was for Republicans to travel around the country, soliciting ideas from average Americans. Eric Cantor pulled the plug on that big idea last month after holding just one pizza event in the whole year, one little pizza party. And then there was this idea-soliciting effort from House Republicans – Americaspeakingout.com, an online forum for Americans to provide new ideas for the Republican Party platform. As the Associated Press noted this weekend, that effort is also not bearing much fruit for Republicans. If you go to the “Liberty and Freedom” page, for example, right now, you can see that the top suggested ideas are “Please protect my right to play poker,” and “Eliminate `don`t ask, don`t tell.`” Also, “Keep the Republicans out of our bedrooms” and “Ban handguns” and “Drop the idea that we`re a Christian country.” You think the Republican Party is ready to run with those ideas? From Americaspeakingout.com, their big ideas generator? Then there was You Cut, the House Republican project to let the American people literally set the legislative agenda for Republicans. People would vote online on what federal spending programs should be cut, and then House Republicans would propose those cuts, thereby slashing federal spending by 0.017 percent. The anti-spending Cato Institute here ridiculing House Republican for their effort to exchange their own initiative, their own leadership, for a meaningless social media gimmick. Then there was the Mount Vernon Statement, a grandiose fake-parchmenty-looking thing that conservatives signed on to as their statement of Constitutional conservatism for the 21st century, endorsing things like the rule of law, and individual liberty, and opposing tyranny in the world, and the defense of family, neighborhood, community and faith. In other words, such generic “I love my mama” platitudes that even a pinko-Commie-liberal-elite-infidel like me would be happy signing on to all but one paragraph of the whole Mount Vernon Statement. And if I fit into your definition of conservative, your definition of conservative is probably broken. It`s one thing to have the luxury to work out your principles in the abstract, to have your pizza parties and your parchmenty statements that talk about loving America and hating foreign aid or whatever. It`s all well and good until what you want government to do actually gets put to the test, like say when a giant, totally unforeseen catastrophe happens, like what is happening right now in the Gulf — the biggest environmental disaster ever in our country, plainly and inarguably caused by an oil company screwing up. It`s exposed deep rifts and deep disagreements among conservatives, among Republicans, about what to do and why.

Jaguars, Lions Lose OTA Sessions

Filed under: Jaguars , Lions , NFL Training Camp The NFL continued its crackdown on overly intense offseason workouts, announcing Thursday that the Jaguars and Lions would lose practice sessions because of rules violations. Jacksonville and Detroit are the third and fourth teams to be stripped of offseason team activity (OTA) sessions. Previously, Baltimore and Oakland forfeited practice days. The league released a statement Thursday morning regarding Jacksonville’s punishment: “The NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association have resolved a complaint by the Players Association against the Jacksonville Jaguars concerning violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement’s offseason workout rules,” the statement said. “It was determined that the Jaguars violated the rules concerning the intensity and tempo of drills conducted on the club’s organized team activity days. “As a result, the Jaguars will forfeit a week of their offseason program (June 21-25, 2010). Jaguars players are not permitted to be at the facility on those days, but will be paid for the sessions. The club cannot reschedule the cancelled days.”

Megan Fox Doesn’t Think She’s ‘Provocative’

The ‘Jonah Hex’ star thinks she and Lady Gaga are frequently misinterpreted. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Megan Fox Photo: Bill Sloyer/ MTV News Let’s play one of our favorite pop-culture games, “Is This Megan Fox Quote Provocative or Just Misinterpreted?” “I’m insane,” the 24-year-old “Jonah Hex” star told MTV News last summer. “Sometimes I’m great, and other times I’m a complete lunatic.” How about this one: “I don’t want to elaborate. I would never call myself a cutter,” Fox once told Rolling Stone. Or this: “[Michael Bay is] like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” Fox declared of the “Transformers” director last year. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is.” So, provocative or misinterpreted? Ask Fox herself, and she’ll answer “misinterpreted” every time. “I don’t feel like I’ve ever necessarily said anything that was provocative,” she told MTV News. “I think that people take relatively innocent statements and turn them into provocative things. … People have no idea how to react. It’s not that the statement itself is outrageous.” Fox has a feeling that other celebs who are dubbed “provocative” for the things they say or do in public are similarly misunderstood. Take Lady Gaga, who seemingly can’t take a breath without making news for the manner in which she expelled the air. While Fox scrupulously avoids the Web, she’s quite sure Gaga is not so much outrageous as she is misconstrued. “I don’t go on the Internet, so I don’t know what she’s been saying lately. I assume that’s probably what’s happening with her as well,” Fox said of Gaga being misinterpreted in the press. Yet, the actress is thankful for one thing about Gaga’s public persona: If the pop star has replaced her as the outrageous celeb-du-jour, that’s a good thing. “[I]f that has happened, I’m really excited about that,” she said with a smile. Chris Wallace: Fox News Getting Helen Thomas’ Old Seat Would Be ‘Poetic Justice’

This might upset some of the Fox News-ophobes within DC media circles, the so-called purists that tend to look down on the highly rated cable news outlet . As Fox News is purportedly competing with Bloomberg for that front-row seat once occupied by the former dean of the White House press corps and Hearst Newspaper columnist Helen Thomas, Chris Wallace, the host of “Fox News Sunday,” suggested there would be some sort of righteousness in his network taking that seat. “They absolutely should get it,” Wallace said on the June 10 broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Imus in the Morning.” “This is kind of interesting because — and I think it would be the final sort of back payment for Helen Thomas, if this were to happen because obviously she was very far to the left-wing and if her seat were to be taken by Fox News, that would just be kind of poetic justice.” Host Don Imus asked Wallace what he meant by that and if that reflected something about Fox News and added, “Say hi to Roger when he calls you,” referring to Fox News President Roger Ailes. But Wallace took the opportunity to clarify his statement. “In any case, it is a vote of the White House Correspondents’ Association and it seems to be a choice between Bloomberg and Fox,” Wallace added. Imus seemed to be a little surprised that Bloomberg was in consideration, but Wallace made the case that Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett would fill that seat well. “I’m simply reporting those seem to be the two news agencies,” Wallace said. “But, I think it’s only fair and how great would it be Major Garrett is a great reporter right there on the front row, front center seat in Robert Gibbs’ face every morning.” CNS News reported this week the Thomas incident has prompted the White House Correspondents Association to re-evaluate its seating rules and credentialing process.
