Let’s get this out of the way: Kristen Stewart was wrong for cheating on Robert Pattinson . There’s no excuse for infidelity. It’s immoral and dishonest and hurtful to the person you supposedly care about most. But – good gracious! – have you been reading the Internet since this scandal broke?!? Is it possible justifiable criticism has morphed into ugly, inappropriate, sexist anger? Especially when one considers Stewart’s age and the marital status of the man with whom she got involved? Stewart is 22. Rupert Sanders is 41. He is married and has two children. She is legally single and has none. According to various reports, the leaked photos of this pair represented the entirety of their actions; i.e. they did not have sex . Moreover, Sanders served in the capacity of Stewart’s director on Snow White and the Huntsman , a position of power, someone Stewart – on a professional basis, granted – took orders from for many weeks. But where is the backlash against Sanders? The latest rumor even states he’ll be hired back as director on a possible Snow White sequel , while Stewart’s role has either been eliminated or greatly reduced. Considering all these factors, we need to ask: Is Kristen Stewart being unfairly treated by the public?
Slamming NBC’s coverage of the Summer Olympics has become as much of a sport these days as swimming, archery or basketball. The network is not airing many key events as they happen. It’s even spoiling its very own primetime tapings by announcing the winner of various races earlier in the day. It’s a mess all around. But Jon Stewart has found a different reason to go off on NBC: its decision to cutaway from an Opening Ceremony tribute to the victims of the 7/7/05 bombing in London… in favor of an interview between Ryan Seacrest and Michael Phelps. Jon Stewart Slams NBC “You wouldn’t air a six-minute tribute to the rest of the world’s terror victims? Because the world’s most overexposed land-based mammal had a chance to speak to the world’s most overexposed water-based mammal?” Stewart asks in the clip above NBC has defended the decision by noting that it tailors the Olympics for an American audience, giving Stewart an easy target, considering the woeful ratings that network has endured for years: “You’re NBC! You don’t know how to tailor television for an American audience!” Point, Jon Stewart.
That’s what friends are for…. Katy Perry Said To Be Helping Robert Pattinson Through Cheating Scandal Pop princess Katy Perry has reportedly found her way into the Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart love triangle…….well, kind of. Katy Perry has allegedly been comforting Robert Pattinson in the wake of Kristen Stewart’s confirmation that she had an affair. Pattinson is reportedly torn over whether to forgive Stewart for her fling with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The Twilight actor has long been friends with Perry and the ‘Wide Awake’ singer has apparently been supportive of Pattinson during this tough time. “Katy has been a rock for Rob. She has reassured him she is very much there for him just as he was for her when she split from Russell [Brand],” an insider told the Daily Star. The source added of Perry’s advice to Pattinson: “She has urged him to take a break with [Kristen].” On Monday (July 30), it was reported that Pattinson has asked Stewart to move out of their California home. Those reports have not been confirmed. Stewart stressed in her initial confirmation of the fling that she is still deeply in love with Pattinson and never meant to hurt him. Sounds like these two are just friends but if not, we’re thinkin’ Katy would be a nice upgrade from Kristen… Source Images via WENN/Splashnews
I should admit up front that I’ve long been skeptical of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson ‘s off-screen romance. They make a beautiful couple, as the Twilight franchise box-office numbers demonstrate, but, if you ask me, their real-life relationship has always had an odor of Hollywood hoodoo — the inspired idea of some marketing or public-relations executive who saw a way to keep fan interest in the blockbuster saga alive between movies. Then again, a slew of respectable publications and websites are telling me it’s real, and so who am I to disagree? People.com reported today , for instance, that a “heartbroken and angry” Pattinson had moved out of the Los Angeles home that he shared with Stewart, despite her head-turning public apology for cheating on him by making out in a car with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders . The whole episode and the media frenzy it has provoked brings out the armchair analyst in me (I do have a Bachelors in psychology, by the way) and, whether I look at this from the perspective of a couples counselor or a cultural critic, I can’t help but think that Stewart — subconsciously or consciously — is telling us that she doesn’t want us to think of her as Bella anymore. Although she seems to have become better adjusted to being in the spotlight recently, Stewart has never appeared comfortable with the insane kind of fame that the Twilight movies brought her. (Indeed, the last time she had to issue an apology was when she compared the paparazzi’s photographing of her to being raped.) I’ve never met her, but I wonder if that discomfort has to do with her self-image as an actress instead of teen idol movie star. Stewart’s excellent performances in Into the Wild and the extremely underrated Adventureland tell me that she has Oscar potential. (I also thought she did Joan Jett justice in The Runaways .) With the right roles, she could be her generation’s Jodie Foster . But at the moment, she’s got to feel more like Mark Hamill. Stewart’s headlines-making cheating episode reminds me of the furor that erupted in 2008 when Vanity Fair published a tastefully topless photo of Miley Cyrus in the magazine. Like Stewart, Cyrus apologized for the incident saying she was “embarrassed” by the photo. But the episode was really a smart bit of positioning on Cyrus’ part: the image sent the message that Cyrus was leaving the adolescent world of Hannah Montana behind. Intentionally or impulsively, Stewart has sent a similar message to the millions of Twi-hards out their who breathlessly monitor her every move. Bella, and maybe Robsten too are history. As one friend told People: “I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover from this.” I bet that friend is right. Sometimes you have to break a few hearts to get what you want. There’s never a good time to engage in an affair, but Kristen Stewart’s romantic interlude with Rupert Sanders has really come at an unfortunate time for the actress. She’ll soon embark on a promotional tour for Breaking Dawn Part 2 ; boyfriend Robert Pattinson recently gave an interview in which he wondered why people cheat ; and Jimmy Kimmel Live just ran a segment in which famous people read mean Tweets directed at them by the general public. And, yes, Stewart is among those featured. It’s hilarious stuff all around – we especially enjoy the selected message shared by Katy Perry – but we somehow doubt Stewart would agree to do it again. Fan reaction to the star these days likely isn’t anything to laugh at…
Following affair allegations, Stewart issues an apology — and finally confirms her relationship with Pattinson. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News
Typically, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are fighting off rumors about a baby or an engagement. The latter recently came out and said the couple isn’t getting married any time soon. But the Twilight Saga co-stars have a very different story to try and deny now: multiple outlets report Kristen cheated on Rob with Rupert Sanders , the director of Snow White and the Huntsman . According to the latest issue of Us Weekly, Stewart and Sanders – who is married with two children – were actually caught in the act by photographers. “It seemed like they couldn’t get enough,” a witness tells the tabloid of the make out session. Why can’t this be dismissed as just another ridiculous Robsten rumor? Because more respectable sources People and E! News have also confirmed the affair. The former says it was just a one-time fling. “Kristen is absolutely devastated,” an insider says to People . “It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgment.”
In bombshell news this week, Kristen Stewart is accused of having an affair with Rupert Sanders . This report – corroborated by People, E! News and Us Weekly – raises many questions about the future of Stewart’s relationship with Robert Pattinson, along with the pressing inquiry of: Who the heck is Rupert Sanders?
Kristen Stewart. Robert Pattinson . Animal sex. Do we have your attention? At Comic-Con last week, Stewart addressed the lovemaking she and her real-life boyfriend do on screen in Breaking Dawn Part 2 , comparing it to the hot honeymoon action between Bella and Edward in the first film. “The ratings, man! [It’s] a tricky thing … because we’re supposed to have mind-boggling, otherworldly … sex,” Stewart said. “In the first one, ‘Breaking Dawn 1,’ we really … this is weird … tried to keep the first one sweet. It’s about self-discovery. Nothing about this series is raunchy. And I know that. … But in the second one, we just wanted to be animals.” Alas, there’s only so much skin and so many sounds you can make while keeping the flick PG-13. Sorry, Twihards.
Tom Cruise is reportedly gearing up for a fight. Having been blindsided last week by his spouse, he is ready for a custody battle over Suri Cruise and preparing to counter-file for divorce in California. According to celebrity gossip sources, Cruise wants to ensure that Katie doesn’t get sole custody of Suri, which she asked for in her New York filing. Cruise’s camp says the divorce can only take place in New York if the marriage occurred there or the spouse has been living there continuously. Despite the couple owning an N.Y. apartment deeded in her name, he will argue that both live in L.A. and she doesn’t meet N.Y. residency requirements . This is significant as N.Y. courts are perceived as much more likely to award sole custody in a contentious divorce than their California counterparts. An insider added of Cruise’s game plan: “There is absolutely no way that he is going to let Katie have sole custody. The lines are being drawn.” The somewhat surprising Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce came out of nowhere, allegedly prompted by her fear of Scientology groups corrupting Suri. The Church of Scientology has denied reports suggesting its people are tailing Katie Holmes or that she is under surveillance, as has been rumored. Regardless, it wasn’t a shock to many when she filed for divorce that it was Cruise’s controversial religion at the crux of the couple’s marital problems. “Every move she made and everything she did was controlled … She felt like she was in Rosemary’s Baby ,” says one insider, referring to the 1968 film. Indeed, her decision to leave the movie star wasn’t easy, nor was it simply about the 33-year-old’s own personal contentment, a Holmes source says. “This is about protecting her daughter,” the insider explains. “She wants to be in charge of how Suri is being raised and didn’t want her to have an exclusively Scientology education. She felt she had to get out to save her daughter.”
