Judge Finally Sets Trial Date For Wrongful Death Of Sandra Bland

Judge Sets 2017 Trial Date For Sandra Bland’s Suspicious Death Justice for the  suspicious death of Sandra Bland is officially underway. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge finally set the trial date for Bland’s death.  Waller County attorney’s argued that Sandra committed suicide after just 3 days in her jail cell, after not being bailed out by her family’s inability to quickly post her bail.  Sandra’s family wasn’t buying that story one bit, and instead pursued the injustice with the help of the media. According to Huffington Post , they are suing for unspecified damages from the Texas Department of Public safety, the state trooper who arrested Sandra, Waller County and two jailers. The trial date is set for January 23, 2017 – still a hefty wait for answers.  As Sandra’s mother would agree, after the hearing she stated, “My daughter is gone. …I walked into these [courthouse] doors with continuations, dates and delays. I’m coming out of these doors with continuations, dates and delays.” Smh. Hopefully justice is finally served. Do you guys foresee an outcome? Sound off in the comments

SMH: Five #BlackLivesMatter Protesters Shot By White Supremacists During Jamar Clark Protests In Minneapolis

White Supremacists Shoot #BlackLivesMatter Protesters In Minneapolis The protests sprung by the death of Jamar Clark have turned violent — not because of the peaceful protesters, but because of the racists that hate the fact that people care about the senseless death of a Black man at the hands of police. Some white men in bulletproof vests were spotted opening fire on the protesters, and wounded five people in the process. Via MailOnline : Five people have been shot near the site of an ongoing protest over the fatal shooting of a black man by a police officer, a Minneapolis Police Department spokesman said. Jamar Clark, 24, was shot in the head by police on November 15 while allegedly wearing handcuffs, according to witnesses. The five people shot just before midnight on Monday all have non-threatening injuries, according to Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder. The shootings occurred near an alley about a block away from the 4th Precinct station, where protesters have been conducting a sit-in since Clark was shot. Protesters who witnessed the violence claim the shooters were white supremacists. Dana Jaehnert said one of the men had been wearing a mask and one was shouting ‘the “n” word’, she told The Star Tribune. Black Lives Matter spokesperson Miski Noor said they opened fire on the group when a dozen protesters attempted to herd them away from the area. Jaehnert said that’s when she heard four gunshots. The attackers then fled. A police source told KTSP that the suspects are believed to be white males wearing bulletproof vests. SMH! These protesters can’t even peacefully air their grievances over the death of an unarmed, handcuffed Black man without racists coming to shoot them down. SMH.

Too Little Too Late?? Dr. Dre Apologizes For Beating Up All Those Women Back In The Day

Dr. Dre Apologizes For Past Domestic Abuse With the great success of ‘Straight Outta Compton’ has also come great criticism of the biopic for omitting key details of the group’s history…particularly Dr. Dre’s notorious pension for slapping up the women in his life . After all the backlash and call-outs the mogul has faced, he is finally addressing his violent past with women that got omitted from the film. Via New York Times : Critics charge that the movie, which was co-produced by Dr. Dre, glosses over N.W.A.’s record of misogyny and ignores Dr. Dre’s history of physically abusing women. In a sign that the uproar was threatening not only his reputation but also his business dealings, Dr. Dre, who has previously spoken dismissively or vaguely about the decades-old episodes, confronted them on Friday in a statement to The New York Times. While he did not address each allegation individually, he said: “Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.” He added: “I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.” Apple, where Dr. Dre, 50, now works as a top consultant, also issued a statement: “Dre has apologized for the mistakes he’s made in the past and he’s said that he’s not the same person that he was 25 years ago. We believe his sincerity and after working with him for a year and a half, we have every reason to believe that he has changed.” This is the latest case of a celebrity who, partly because of the Internet, has been forced to face old abuse allegations. And for the accusers, Dr. Dre’s statement may be an acknowledgment of what they said decades ago. Do you feel like this statement settles things…or is there more necessary??

Dr. Dre Beating Victim Dee Barnes Says His Violent History With Women Should Have Been Included In “Straight Outta Compton”

Dee Barnes Speaks On “Straight Outta Compton” Another woman famously beaten by Dr. Dre has addressed the absence of his violent past in box office smash “Straight Outta Compton.” The backstory: in 1991, Dre, apparently displeased with the outcome of a report on NWA that Dee anchored, confronted the journalist at a showcase and ultimately slammed her head into a concrete wall, tried to throw her down a flight of stairs, kicked her, and stomped her fingers while she was on the floor. Dee says that while she doesn’t think her beating (or the multiple others he handed out to women) needed to be dramatized in the film, they should have been addressed somehow. Via Gawker : That event isn’t depicted in Straight Outta Compton, but I don’t think it should have been, either. The truth is too ugly for a general audience. I didn’t want to see a depiction of me getting beat up, just like I didn’t want to see a depiction of Dre beating up Michel’le, his one-time girlfriend who recently summed up their relationship this way: “I was just a quiet girlfriend who got beat on and told to sit down and shut up.” But what should have been addressed is that it occurred. When I was sitting there in the theater, and the movie’s timeline skipped by my attack without a glance, I was like, “Uhhh, what happened?” Like many of the women that knew and worked with N.W.A., I found myself a casualty of Straight Outta Compton’s revisionist history. Dre, who executive produced the movie along with his former groupmate Ice Cube, should have owned up to the time he punched his labelmate Tairrie B twice at a Grammys party in 1990. He should have owned up to the black eyes and scars he gave to his collaborator Michel’le. And he should have owned up to what he did to me. That’s reality. That’s reality rap. In his lyrics, Dre made hyperbolic claims about all these heinous things he did to women. But then he went out and actually violated women. Straight Outta Compton would have you believe that he didn’t really do that. It doesn’t add up. Not only does Barnes say she still suffers migraines from the brutal incident, but her career was never the same after that night. She’s been unable to work full-time as a journalist, for every outlet’s fear of ruining their relationship with the billionaire music mogul in the present day: People ask me, “How come you’re not on TV anymore?” and “How come you’re not back on television?” It’s not like I haven’t tried. I was blacklisted. Nobody wants to work with me. They don’t want to affect their relationship with Dre. I’ve been told directly and indirectly, “I can’t work with you.” I auditioned for the part that eventually went to Kimberly Elise in Set It Off. Gary was the director. This was long after Pump it Up!, and I nailed the audition. Gary came out and said, “I can’t give you the part.” I asked him why, and he said, “‘Cause I’m casting Dre as Black Sam.” My heart didn’t sink, I didn’t get emotional; I was just numb. Most recently, I tried to get a job at Revolt. I’ve known Sean (Combs) for years and have the utmost respect for him. Still nothing. Instead of doing journalism, I’ve had a series of 9-5 jobs over the years to make ends meet. WOW. Who had any idea that this one incident was still affecting her this much? Do you think F. Gary Gray and the producers/writers should have found a way to at least touch on this dark point of NWA’s rise to fame??

In PIG News: Black Man Files Lawsuit After Cop Turns Off Dashcam Before Brutally Beating Him During Arrest

Black Man Sues After St.Louis Cop Turns Off Dashcam Before Brutally Beating Him During Arrest We’re barely 2 months into 2015 and there’s already been a slew of brutality incidents between black men and police officers across the country. via USA Today ST. LOUIS — A man has filed a lawsuit against the city’s police department after a dash cam video showing his arrest was turned off by an officer. The man arrested, Cortez Bufford, is claiming excessive force. St. Louis police say they pulled over Bufford and a passenger on April 10, 2014, after his car matched a description to a shots fired call. Police say they tried to get him out of the car, but he did not comply. You can hear a man screaming and see a struggle ensue in the police dash cam video. A few officers kick Bufford as he continues to fight back, then an officer uses a taser on him. They are on the ground for nearly two minutes when you hear an officer say, “we are red right now,” which means the camera is on, and then the camera shuts off. “Hold up, everybody hold up, we are red right now, so if you guys are worried about the cameras just wait,” the unidentified officer said. Bufford’s attorney said there was no reason for the police to pull over his client, and no reason for officers to kick him. Bufford was charged with resisting arrest, along with drug and gun possession, but those charges were later dropped. Stay woke and be safe, Bossip fam. These shady cops are showing no signs of letting up anytime soon!
