2012 Bride Kidnapping In Kyrgyzstan These fools are cray. Back to the cave man days: In rural Kyrgyzstan men still marry their women the old-fashioned way: by abducting them off the street and forcing them to be their wife. Bride kidnapping is a supposedly ancient custom that’s made a major comeback since the fall of Communism and now accounts for nearly half of all marriages in some parts. We traveled to the Kyrgyz countryside to follow/aid and abet a young groom named Kubanti as he surprised his teenage girlfriend Nazgul with the gift of marriage/kidnapping. Turn the page and watch these women ball out!

Our names are Elana and Billie. June 15, 2012 was single handedly the best day of our whole entire lives. Justin Bieber had been scheduled to be at the Today Show , so we went to the city on June 14th, hoping that we might see him at his hotel or around town. We also stopped by the Today Show and it was so crowded that even if we had camped out, we wouldn’t have had a good view of the stage. We went home and the next day we woke super early, took the 6:50 train, and headed to the Today Show. We were in the back of the stage but we got to watch the performance on the TVs they had set up and we had speakers next to us and he did such an AMAZING job! We left the concert a little early to go to the hotel we heard he was staying at. When we were at the hotel, the security guards swore to us that he wasn’t staying there. We were so upset, we left the hotel and we were gonna leave the city. We walked to the Rockefeller Plaza with little hope that we could still meet him. Luckily we saw like 10 people in Justin Bieber shirts standing outside the parking lot at the plaza, so we went over to them and asked them what they were waiting for. They said that they didn’t think Justin left the plaza yet, so we stayed outside with them for around two hours. After two hours the police were all saying that he’s coming out in five minutes. WE WERE FREAKING OUT!!! All of a sudden a black car came out of the parking lot driving like 90mph. He waved to us but then quickly kept driving. Without even realizing what was going on, we sprinted down the street. The police officers had to stop traffic since we were gonna get hit by cars and lucky for us, his car got stopped at a red light. We ran to the car and started banging on the window. He rolled down the window, grinned at us and said hi. We told him how amazing he did at the Today Show and he said thank you. We got pictures with him and we were the only people to get pictures. When the light switched to green, he rolled the window back up and drove away. We literally sprinted to the sidewalk and broke down in tears. We were screaming and crying. So many people came up to us and asked us to see pictures. An interviewer came up to us and interviewed us for the NBC documentary that’s going to be on TV Wednesday and Thursday. It was actually the best day of our lives. Never say never, one day you will meet Justin, I promise. Anything is possible. -@bieberislife432 @jdbchick97 Continue reading here: Our names are Elana and Billie. June 15, 2012 was single…
Filmmaker Alma Har’el ( Bombay Beach ) was originally going to film Icelandic outfit Sigur Ros for their “Fjögur píanó” music video, but then she apparently ran into Shia LaBeouf and the whole concept changed into a Big Idea-filled meditation involving nudity, interpretive dance, and an underwater acid trip. Of course! Watch the NSFW (but oddly gorgeous) short and ponder away after the jump. “Originally [Har’el] was going to film us on super 8 in Iceland all playing the piano lines from the song,” explains bassist Georg Holm, “but then she rang and said she’d met Shia LaBeouf and they’d changed the idea. That was the last we heard of the concept and she told us nothing about what was going on.” LaBeouf is joined by actress Denna Thomsen in the piece, one of a dozen videos commissioned by the band to accompany their latest album, “Valtari.” According to the Wall Street Journal , each filmmaker was given a $10,000 budget and carte blanche to deliver a video. The video, Har’el suggests, “is about addiction to drugs, or sex, or anything–and how you get stuck in a cycle.” And the dead butterflies festooning the bedroom that imprisons the couple? The director says they symbolize “very beautiful things that die very fast,” the experiences or emotions that couple share ad nauseam. “For me, it’s about not knowing how to get out of something without causing pain to somebody else,” Har’el says. “For other people it might be about candy and fish. I’m down with that. [via WSJ ]
‘He’s the only person I’d sleep on the ground for,’ one Belieber tells MTV News two days before ‘Today’ show concert. By Uptin Saiidi Justin Bieber Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images NEW YORK — A little rain couldn’t stop die-hard Beliebers and fans of the Wanted fans from camping out to snag front-row spots for their fave acts. On Wednesday afternoon (June 13), approximately 50 Justin Bieber admirers staked out territory outside Rockefeller Center, gearing up for Bieber’s ‘Today’ show performance — two days from now, on Friday morning. Meanwhile, several blocks away, a handful of fans also laid out their sleeping bags outside the Best Buy Theater in anticipation of the Wanted ‘s ticketed Friday night show. MTV News caught up with fans today, they told us a little rain wouldn’t hurt because they came well prepared with sleeping bags, umbrellas and jackets, including a pair of sisters from New Jersey were third in the line for Biebs. “We came to the ‘Today’ show last November, but we were way, way in the back, so we got out front this time,” Hayley, 17, said. “And we’re going to see him this time because he’s amazing and beautiful.” Still, the continuous rain and cloudy weather was making it less than ideal for camping out on the New York City pavement. “The rain has been a big issue because I really don’t like getting my hair wet, honestly, but everybody here has been pretty good,” she added. “We just have umbrellas, because we’re not allowed to have tents.” When it comes to using the bathrooms, the fans were getting creative. “We use the bathroom in the parking garage where our car is,” Hayley noted. “We don’t really have anywhere else to go, so we go wherever we can get in.” Yasmin, 13, was using Twitter to pass the time … and keep constant updates on Justin. “While we’re waiting for Justin, we’re basically on Twitter, reading his tweets and everything.” A valuable way to pass the time, considering Bieber tweeted just today that he’ll be bringing along a special guest for his NBC appearance. Another way fans were passing the time was to make friends with their fellow fans. “All the Beliebers are here, it’s kind of like one giant party in the street, so it’s been good,” Amanda, 15, said.”When he comes out onstage, it’s just going to hit us and he’s just going to be right there, like, practically singing to us,” she gushed. “He’s my idol; he’s the only person I’d sleep on the ground for, for two nights.” Meanwhile, a few blocks away at Times Square’s Best Buy Theater, about half a dozen Wanted fans from Staten Island (who already had tickets) waited with coloring books, in hopes of making sure they’d be in the front row. The Wanted fans seemed a bit luckier than Bieber fans in that they had an awning to camp out under. “The rain it’s been all right. We’ve managed, we have umbrellas, sleeping bags, coats, everything, so it’s been pretty OK,” Melissa, 24, said. “It’s worth it because the energy they provide onstage is worth being front row, I don’t know how to describe it, it’s a different feeling than if you were in the back,” Melissa further explained. When asked how she’d feel when the guys finally take to the stage Friday night, she smiled, “We’ll feel relief. Relief and excitement.” Would you camp out in the rain to see your favorite singer? See now this is how I like my supermodels, all dressed up in a fancy dress that may or may not be see through. I can’t tell with supermodels, they’re so good at hiding there nipples that I don’t know what the hell is going on here, but when Doutzen Kroes shows up wearing something like this I’m going to post it for you. I think the shots of her out on the street are my favorite. Can you imagine walking around and running to this on the sidewalk? Every perverts dream.
You may look at this first photo from the set of Iron Man 3 and think, “Gee, Tony Stark has a lot of toys.” I look at it — a shot of Robert Downey Jr. as Stark, gazing at his wall of Iron Man suits in a lab/Hall of Ego scattered with gadgets and gizmos aplenty — and remember I need to do laundry. Also, I need a bigger closet. Why does Tony Stark have so many wardrobe options? On the flip side, you could go way into depth surmising what all this hardware means, as EW’s Anthony Breznican does: It’s a big responsibility for whomever — we presume Stark’s automated butler JARVIS — to guard this stuff. Although Marvel Studios hasn’t released details of the plot, if you couple this official image with paparazzi shots last week revealing the Iron Patriot, a character using stolen Stark tech who literally wraps his armor in the flag to justify his actions, we may be seeing the issue of proliferation rising again for ol’ Tony. Sure, sure. But wait… what could this one face-obscured behind-the-scenes shot mean for the meaning of Iron Man 3 ? What comes next could be too powerful even for Stark to control. If rumors are true that Iron Man 3 filmmaker Shane Black ( Kiss Kiss Bang Bang ) is taking his cues from the Iron Man comic series Extremis , which deals with nanotechnology injected directly into human beings to make them more powerful, then it’s no longer a matter of who is inside the weapon than what kind of weapon is inside the person. And that next case on the wall, which looks eerily like a row of coffins now, would have to contain Tony Stark himself . WHOA. Way existential, man. Who agrees? Who’s excited? Who’s wondering if we’re really butt-gazing at RDJ’s stand-in while the real RDJ is over snacking at craft services? [ EW ]
A swarm of celebs including cast members turned out Monday night for the New York premiere of Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener starrer, Peace, Love & Misunderstanding at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The event, which benefited The Women’s Media Center, held its post-screening bash at the Royalton Hotel in Midtown. The party didn’t take a cue from the film’s hippie-vibe, but who needs bohemian when there’s champagne and sliders to guzzle! Along with Fonda and Keener, fellow cast members Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chace Crawford, NatWolff, Marissa O’Donnell and Maddie Corman joined in for the party hosted by Forevermark and The Wall Street Journal. Directed by Driving Miss Daisy director Bruce Beresford, the film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall (followed by a U.S. debut at the Woodstock Film Festival – natch!) follows Manhattan lawyer Diane (Keener) who drives her teenage son Jake (Nat Wolff) and adult daughter Zoe (Elizabeth Olsen) to visit their Woodstock-bound hippie grandmother Grace (Fonda), who the kids have never met. Grace stages protests, smokes and sells dope, but their weekend getaway morphs into a summer adventure of romance, music and more. “It was amazing to have such veteran actors like Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener working alongside newcomers [at the time] Nat Wolff and Elizabeth Olsen,” Peace producer Claude Dal Farra told ML. “This was actually the first movie-set for Elizabeth and Nat.” Others at the party Monday included Robin Morgan, GloriaSteinem, Carol Alt, Ashleigh Banfield, Joshua Bell, Jewelle Bickford, Sandy Brant, Julie Burton, Ron Claiborne, Jamie Colby, Alan Cox ( The Dictator ), Rebecca Dayan ( Celeste & Jesse Forever ), Aleksa Palladino ( Boardwalk Empire ), Savanna Wise ( Smash ) and Casper Zafer ( The Vampire Diaries ). IFC Films will open Peace, Love & Misunderstanding beginning this Friday. [Photo credit: Amanda Schwab/Starpix]
