High School Denies Female Student’s Request To Run For Prom King A Pennsylvania high school student who was legally born female has been denied by the school board after requesting to run for Prom King. via Fox News A western Pennsylvania school board is reviewing a request by a biologically female student who wants to appear on the ballot for homecoming king. The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat reports the student, Kasey Caron, was “disappointed” that the Richland School Board did not immediately rule on the request Monday night saying, “I thought they were going to have a change of heart. I am still hoping for one.” Caron was denied a spot on the ballot after a driver’s license listed the student’s gender as female, though Caron says that has been changed to “male.” But school board Solicitor Timothy Leventry says the state’s legal standard is higher and says there’s no doubt that Caron is legally female. White FSU Student Under Investigation Over Racist Social Media Post A Florida State University student who claims the racist messages directed towards her fellow minority students that came from her Twitter and Vine accounts were the result of a hacker. via  Huffington Post A racist post sent from a Florida State University student’s Vine and Twitter social media accounts set off a firestorm at the Tallahassee campus this week. Mandy Thurston’s Vine and Twitter accounts on Wednesday posted the message, “Welcome to FAMU…I mean FSU. #monkeyseverywhere,” according to screenshots circulated online (FAMU refers to Florida A&M University, a historically black university). The six-second Vine showed footage of students at the Oglesby Union courtyard on FSU’s campus during Market Wednesday, a weekly event where student organizations and vendors put up tables. The Vine post has since been deleted, as has Thurston’s Twitter account. Thurston told the Tallahassee Democrat Friday that her accounts had been hacked, and that she’s filed a police report about it. Maj. Jim Russell, assistant chief of FSU PD, confirmed to the newspaper that a report was filed this week, but did not provide any details. Prior to the Democrat’s report of the alleged hacking, campus police and the FSU administration had announced to the student body that an investigation was underway. Florida Bus Driver Drops Off Kids in Wrong City, Parents Far From Pleased

A bus driver in Florida’s Broward County School District incurred the wrath of parents after dropping seven children off Monday … in the wrong city. The students, ages 10-13, were supposed to be dropped off close to their homes, minutes away from Forest Glen Middle School in Coral Springs. School Bus Leaves Students in Wrong City Instead, they were dropped off at a gas station in Pompano Beach – several cities and at least 20 minutes east – on their first day of school. The students realized something was amiss, but to no avail. They reportedly told the bus driver that he was going the wrong way, but he did not stop. Student Samantha Cisneros attempted to put her dad on the phone with him, but the driver said he could not talk while driving, according to NBC 6. Parents aren’t pleased that the bus driver dropped the students so far away from their homes, though his motivations for doing so are unclear. “I’m totally frustrated, mad, angry. I just can’t believe a person would just drop a child off in the street to just fend for yourself,” Wilson Cisneros told NBC. The school district has been made aware of the incident, and a spokesperson said Monday night that an investigation would be taking place. A day later, Broward County Public Schools spokesperson Tracy Clark released a statement explaining the results of an investigation into the incident. According to the statement, the district transportation department found the bus did take its scheduled route, although students did not get off at their stop. The driver said he would take them back to the right stop after completing the route, but they got off in Pompano Beach with other students who live there. So basically, that makes pretty much no sense considering what the students themselves told their parents, and no one has any idea what to believe.

Girl Arrested For Having Forced Sex With Student According to The NY Post A 10-year-old girl was arrested for the alleged forced sex of a 4-year-old boy in Houston, but the mother of girl says the incident was innocent. “She was just being a child, having fun and playing,” the mom told KHOU. “She didn’t know she was doing anything wrong.” The girl has been charged with having forced sex with the boy in their apartment complex, the mother said. Houston police confirmed the incident was reported in April and an arrest was made last week. “Me and my mom were crying and then she took me to the police car,” the 10-year-old girl said. “I didn’t want to get in.” Added her mom: “Just to see her looking through those bars screaming for me to get her out was a nightmare.” The girl was transported to a downtown juvenile justice complex, where she was fingerprinted, issued a jumpsuit and locked in a cell. She was there for four days before being released. With no attorney, activist Quanell X, the head of the New Black Panther party in Houston, has stepped in to defend her. “This was nothing more than inappropriate horseplay,” Quanell X said. “That’s what this was. That’s gone a little bit too far and criminalizing a 10-year-old child.” The girl’s mother would not say whether her daughter did actually commit a crime. If convicted, she would have to register as a sex offender. “I’m not saying that she didn’t,” the mom said. “I’m not saying she did, but she’s still a child.” Children do experiment and play. Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With Student According to Mail Online A former school worker arrested yesterday in Michigan for having an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student has appeared in court. Abigail Marie Simon, 33, entered a not-guilty plea today to charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a minor for immoral purposes. Simon was fired from her position as a tutor and study hall supervisor at Catholic Central and West Catholic high schools in April after the boy’s mother found pictures of Simon in a garter belt on her son’s phone. Police also found text messages of a sexual nature between Simon and the boy and an arrest warrant was obtained this week. Simon allegedly had a sexual relationship with the student between February 1 and April 26 of this year at her former apartment in the 300 block of Bridge Street North West, in Grand Rapids. According the MLive.com, Grand Rapids Police Detective Amy Lowrie said that the alleged victim initially told police that he and Simon had sexual contact but then recanted his testimony. ‘Recently [he] has admitted that there was sexual contact again. And the text messages that were found in both of their phones support there was a sexual relationship.’ Simon was held at the Kent County Correctional Facility before the hearing today. Her attorney Michael Distel asked that she be released on a personal recognizance bond. Distel cited Simon’s clean record and supportive family and told the judge that she does not pose flight risk. The judge Patricia Schaefer noted that Simon has contacted the boy after being warned to stay away from him by police, and set her bail at $25,000. Simon posted bail this afternoon and is staying with her parents in Grand Blanc. Schaefer told Simon that she cannot contact the alleged victim or be within four blocks of him in any direction. A probable-cause hearing is August 23. SMH. Whoop her azz and put her underneath the jail.

Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With Student According to Mail Online A 22-year-old teacher in New Jersey was arrested on Friday for allegedly having sexual contact with one of her 15-year-old students at Wall Township High School, where she is a 9th-grade English teacher. A complaint filed against Warnick – who in addition to teaching at Wall Township High School, also graduated from the school – accuses her of aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child. Warnick, who has been working as an at-home summer instructor since June, was arrested July 30 and released after posting $50,000 bail. According to the criminal complaint, the incident was reported on July 14. Monmouth County prosecutors would not provide further details. Charlie Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, told the Asbury Park Press that his office could not release any information as to how police were made aware of the alleged sexual contact between Warnick and the student. ‘It’s an ongoing investigation. The complaint will have to speak for itself,’ Webster said. Wall Township Board of Education President Eva Applegate said she is aware of the allegations against Warnick, but also declined comment. ‘The board will be discussing the employee’s contract renewal in a closed session next week,’ Applegate said. The teacher’s attorney, Alton Kenney says she will plead not guilty ‘because she is, in fact, not guilty.’ He says he expects her to be exonerated and return to work as a teacher. Attorney James Maggs, who is assisting the boy’s family, says he has gone through a ‘horrible ordeal.’ Warnick is due in court Aug. 6. Where were the parents?

This is so sad . 18-Year-Old Student Drowns According to Mail Online An Indiana family is struggling to understand why a promising 18-year-old student who was bound for college in the fall drove her SUV into a reservoir and drowned. Authorities do not know what caused Peyton Reikhof to make the fatal decision to drive across 100 feet of backyards and submerge her vehicle in Geist Reservoir in upscale Fishers, Indiana, an Indianapolis suburb. They fear they may never know. Investigators say Reikhof acted alone, though they are not sure whether she plowed into the water on purpose or whether it was an accident. Foul play is not suspected. She was found Sunday after her boyfriend called police on Thursday to report that she left his house distressed. He said he was concerned about her well-being, WISH-TV reports. Reikhof had recently graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School and was planning to attend the University of Kansas on scholarship in the fall. Her family is heartbroken and struggling to understand what happened. ‘She was just an amazing girl. She really was. She had so many friends. So active in everything and had an outstanding grade average and had a scholastic scholarship to KU,’ her grandfather Michael Reikhof told WISH-TV. Prayers to her family. Facebook
