You Gon’ Learn Today: Teacher Faces Termination After She Posts Pictures Of Students With Duct Tape Over Their Mouths

Funny or too far? Ohio Teacher Suspended After She Duct Taped Students Mouths Shut An Ohio teacher who jokingly allowed her students to pass around duct tape and scissors in class and tape their own mouths shut to “keep them quiet” has now found herself in a situation that’s no laughing matter. via NBC News An Ohio math teacher could be fired after posting a Facebook photo of her students with duct tape over their mouths, according to local media reports. Middle school teacher Melissa Cairns told newsnet5.com in Cleveland that she gave a female student a roll of duct tape after the girl asked for tape to fix a binder. Cairns claims the student then cut a piece of tape, put it over her own mouth and laughed. The incident happened last October at Buchtel Community Learning Center in Akron. “The other kids in the class thought it was funny also, and they proceeded to pass the tape and scissors around the class,” Cairns told newsnet5.com. Ultimately, eight or nine students put tape on their mouths, Akron Public Schools told newsnet5.com. Thinking her Facebook privacy settings would only show her friends, the math teacher posted a picture of the duct-taped students on the social network, with a caption that read, according to newsnet5.com: “Finally found a way to get them to be quiet!!!” What say you, Bossipers? Was this teacher out of line….or did this joke just get taken a lil too seriously? Image via Shutterstock

11-Year-Old Boy Brings Gun To School And Tells Classmates His Parents Gave It To Him For Protection Following Newtown Massacre

SMH !!!!! Utah Boy Brings Gun To School Following Newtown Tragedy A 6th grade student brought an unloaded handgun to West Kearns Elementary School Monday. Via Fox 13 reports: The 11-year-old boy allegedly told other students his parents encouraged him to bring a gun to school for protection following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday. The boy reportedly pulled the gun, a .22-caliber pistol, out of his backpack during recess Monday morning. “At recess, he pointed a gun to my head and said he was going to kill me,” said Isabel Rios, one of the boy’s fellow 6th grade students. Granite School District officials say students didn’t notify teachers about the weapon until 3 p.m. “Once the teacher knew there was a weapon in the classroom, the student was apprehended in 30 to 45 seconds and immediately brought down to the office and the police were on site within five to 10 minutes,” said Granite School District Spokesman Ben Horsley. Granite School District sent a pre-recorded message via telephone to the parents of West Kearns Elementary students at 5:30 p.m. By then, some of those parents had already heard about the incident from their children. “There was no lockdown. No one was called. Nothing was done. And then we had to hear it from our kids,” said John Klaus, the father of a student at West Kearns Elementary. School administrators said they didn’t lock the school down because the gun was taken into possession quickly and they felt a lockdown would have scared the students. Jesus take the guns!!!!!

Hoy En Mi Gente News: Hispanic And Latina High School Graduates Celebrate President Obama’s New Illegal Immigration Policy

Wepa!!! President Obama Announces New Policy To Stop Deportation Of Illegal Immigrants In a scene unfolding in many Latino communities throughout the country, the graduation ceremony at Garcia High School in Chicago was especially celebratory Saturday: 20 percent of the graduating seniors are illegal immigrants who can now put their education to use with work permits authorized by President Obama’s new immigration rules. “What the president did this week was an amazing gift to me and other students who are undocumented,” graduating senior Andrea Labra, 18, told CNN. “It’s just an emotional thing to have the same opportunities that other students have and that we didn’t have just because we didn’t have papers,” added Labra, who was born in Mexico and came to the United States at age 5 with her family. For the class of 2012, the routine tossing of mortarboards in the air was more emotional than anticipated, said classmate Rodrigo Espinoza, 18, who’s also an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. His family brought him to the United States when he was 3 months old. “It’s so unexpected,” Espinoza said of Obama’s executive order, announced Friday. “It’s like a dream. I can finally do something with my life now.” Espinoza is going to study bio-engineering on a scholarship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He wants to find a cure for cancer, he said. “I’m determined to do it now that I have a chance to do it,” said Espinoza, who will be the first one in his family to go to college. As an honors graduate, a yellow sash topped his blue cap and gown. “This is going to change my life. It was a life-changing experience for all of us and for my family,” he added about the new immigration rules announced Friday. Juan Rangel, the leader of Chicago’s largest Hispanic advocacy organization that runs Hector P. Garcia High and 10 other city charter schools, said the White House announcement was “a high note for the graduating ceremony.” Ol’ Barry O is pushing the right buttons to get those votes as we get closer to the election. Everyone makes mistakes. The best thing one can do is face up to the facts and acknowledge the error; fix the problem to the extent possible and do what is necessary to avoid repeating the mistake. Ben Bernanke’s inability to admit his (and his predecessor’s) mistakes condemns the Fed to repeat the sins of the past.
