The principal of a Brooklyn high school for new immigrants had five students do hard labor moving furniture for her instead of doing schoolwork — a daylong field trip from hell that included kids being tossed around in the back of a U-Haul truck, The Post has learned. It’s at least the second time that Altagracia Liciaga, principal of Multicultural HS in Cypress Hills, has been investigated for allegedly outrageous behavior toward her students. Liciaga had sent the students on the dangerous excursion to a Midtown warehouse to pick up school furniture, with three of the teens sitting in the box truck’s dark cargo hold for both legs of the round trip, which each lasted 1½ hours. While two students sat up front in the cab of the truck with a student aide driving, the other three were forced to ride in back — including one teen who tied himself down with a scarf to keep from bouncing around like a pinball. “I thought the trip was very dangerous,” said one of the teens, who like most kids at Multicultural HS is a recently arrived Spanish speaker. “In the back, there [were no seat belts] for us. If I had known that ahead of time, I wouldn’t have gone.” No permission slips were filled out by parents for the unscheduled trip, teachers said. The student, who did not want to be identified for fear of retribution, said he stepped up when Liciaga was seeking volunteers because he likes to help out and because he assumed the errand wouldn’t take long. Instead, he and the four other students left the school before 10 a.m. on Dec. 14, hauled more than a dozen heavy cabinets into the truck and returned to the school after 3 p.m. After they had unloaded all the cargo on the third floor of the school, Liciaga thanked them by giving them tacos. Wait. Tacos, though? SMDH. A city Department of Education spokeswoman told The Post that Liciaga had been reprimanded. “The allegation regarding the furniture was substantiated, and the principal received a letter of reprimand,” the rep said. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they’ll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance. Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they’ll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer’s hit “Born This Way.” Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment. “Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance,” he says. Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don’t accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing “Born This Way.” “We’re going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We’re going to perform her anthem to acceptance, ‘Born This Way,’ ” he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause. Back in January, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes . “I love that that song is [an] anthem,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. “This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. Four North Andover students got violently ill last week after they ate brownies laced with marijuana before a school prom, police said. Officials are trying to figure out who supplied the brownies. A YouTube video shows the abrupt end to North Andover High School’s junior prom. The principal shut the event down early after four students became sick after eating brownies that contained marijuana, police said. The superintendent said between 11 and 20 students ate the brownies before leaving the high school in a bus to the Atkinson Country Club in New Hampshire on Friday. Police and school administrators are now interviewing the students involved and say someone may face criminal charges for distribution. For all that these kids probably would have been better off smoking it! Source
Sha Money XL , Island Def Jam’s Senior VP of A&R, took some time out of this day to impart wisdom on some aspiring musicians from Jay-Z’s old middle school in Brooklyn. The students from IS 318 ages 11 to 15 met the executive at the SAE Institute , a world-renowned audio engineering school. The founder of G-Unit records told the children about how he started out playing piano as a pre-teen. “I was once like ya’ll wanting to be in music…I tried to rap but I needed beats,” he said. “No one had beats for me so I started making music. But I realized my calling wasn’t to be a rapper. Thanks to the piano lessons I knew chord progressions and added what we learned in hip-hop and I became a producer.” Sha also shared the story of meeting the late Jam Master Jay and how the legend introduced him to 50 Cent . After the talk some of the students performed songs that they’d prepared for Sha to critique. “I’m inspired by their hunger,” he said afterward. “I learned a lot from the questions they asked.
