My name is Megan, I’m from Long Island and I’m 15…

My name is Megan, I’m from Long Island and I’m 15 years old. My friend Joli and I had always wanted to meet Justin, and since he would be in the city all week we made it a priority that we would at least see him. On Wednesday, June 20th, my dad, my step mom Joli, and I, drove into the city to go to the Z100 studios. We drove around all of NYC for 4 hours looking for the studio. We tried calling, texting, and asking random people on the street if anyone knew where they were and no one knew. We all thought we weren’t ever going to find it. Joli felt the need to call z100 and see if they would answer. As we were about to leave the city, a guy named Trey (@ItsTreyMorgan) answered the phone and gave us directions on how to get to the studio! We finally arrived at the studio at around 11 pm. I was SO happy that we finally made it. My step mom left, and my dad stayed with me and my friend to sleep the night . There were 2 girls in front of us, who we made friends with and we all waited together. We waited up all night, just to hear about Justin Bieber. People inside the studios came out and asked the four of us for pictures because we were such dedicated fans. We couldn’t believe it was only the four of us. Around 2 am, two more girls arrived who we all became friends with. The six of us waited all night, without sleeping, outside of the z100 studios to just catch a glimpse of Justin. When it finally hit around 6 am, a lot more people came who started being rude and obnoxious and made the security guards put up barricades. Finally, it was 7:30am. We all thought that Justin would come early, or take some pictures. But at 7:45, Justin, Kenny, Moshi, Bruce, and some random driver all exited out of one black escalade. Justin smiled, and touched some fans before he rushed into the studios. I was lucky enough to have stuck my arm out enough for him to grab it! After Justin arrived, Alfredo and Allison arrived in a different black escalade. Everyone went crazy for them! After his interview was over, more people started showing up and trying to make up excuses not to stand in the barricades. At around 10:00am all of Justin and his team finally came out. I ended up taking a picture with Bruce (Justin’s grandpa), Kenny, and Alfredo. They are all the sweetest guys in the world. I told Kenny I was obsessed with him, and he laughed at me.  Justin took pictures with a lot of fans and I was really nervous he wasn’t going to be able to take mine. He was one the other side of the barricades and I looked at him and begged him to come over to our side. He finally came over and took pictures with a lot of people before me. When he finally got to me the crowd behind him was insane. He looked behind him and his security team almost forced him to go back to the truck. I stuck my camera out, and he moved over to me and smiled. Me and Justin Bieber took a picture together! He smiled at me after it was done, and I thanked him and told him he was amazing. After taking a picture with my friend, Justin was forced to leave because the crowd was insane behind him. They were almost trampling him. Everyone got back into the escalades and speeded away. Some girls tried to sprint after it, but none of them could keep up with how fast it was going. After crying over the reality of the situation, I got interviewed by z100 so many times. It was definitely fate. I never stopped believing in my dream coming true. And since 09, I finally get to say. I’ve met Justin Drew Bieber. Never Say Never. -@manitsbieber See more here: My name is Megan, I’m from Long Island and I’m 15…

‘American Idol’ Top 10 Tune Up For Idols Live! Tour

‘It’s going to be a big learning experience,’ says ‘Idol’ champ Phillip Phillips of the 45-city tour. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Kelly Marino Phillip Phillips at the ‘Idols Live’ Rehearsals Photo: It’s hard enough for bands with one singer to get their musical heads together for a major summer tour. Just imagine coordinating a band with 10 lead singers and you can begin to see how much work goes into getting ready for this summer’s American Idols Live! Tour featuring the top singers from season 11. The top 10 have begun getting things together for the tour, which kicks off on July 6 in Detroit. They gathered in a studio in Los Angeles on Wednesday to continue getting their act together. During an a cappella run through One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” a smiling Phillip Phillips
stood in the back of the pack as fellow finalist Colton Dixon mussed up his pal’s hair. “I’m really excited, you know it’s all of our first time being on a real tour … it’s going to be a big learning experience,” said Phillips, just a few weeks removed from surgery to repair a chronic kidney problem
. “I’m feeling good,” he assured MTV News of the surgery, which followed eight surgeries during the run of the show to deal with recurring stones. For a period it was unclear if Phillips would be healed in time for the tour, but he’s clearly healed quickly enough make the trek. Phillips recently told the Associated Press that he’s “getting better each day, so that’s a good thing. I’m just walking around, getting my strength back together. It was tough, you know, those first few days, but I’m getting to where I can pick the guitar back up and write a little bit.” Runner-up Jessica Sanchez was reveling in getting the old crew together again. “It’s so much fun … it’s just like the old days when we were first auditioning and everyone was just a big family and just jamming out.” Her pal, country gal Skylar Laine, added, “Every day we come in here and rehearse and just sing our songs and do our group songs and it’s a blast.” Dixon promised that the live show is “completely different” from what viewers saw on TV. The experience will also be new for the singers, since instead of a few thousand in a studio audience, they will be looking at more than 10,000 screaming fans in arenas. “We’re gonna be like, ‘what do we do with that?’,” he said. Rocker chick Elise Testone promised that you will see the contestants singing backup for one another, performing duets and group songs and putting more of their personalities into the songs. “It’s a perfect mix between favorite moments form the show …. And a whole mix of new stuff too,” Erika Van Pelt said. Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page, where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. How Justin Bieber Found His Hip-Hop Swag

Following the release of his hip-hop-heavy Believe, MTV News looks at the young pop star’s swaggiest moments. By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: You’d think a 1995 collaboration between the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and rap’s widely recognized G.O.A.T., the Notorious B.I.G., would have made a bigger wave, but when MJ released “This Time Around” with Biggie Smalls 17 years ago, mixing pop with hip-hop was still very taboo. Despite the top billing, the track hit with a relative thud. The truth is it just didn’t feel organic, it’s not like Mike grew up listening to rap in Gary, Indiana, in the 1960s, the art form as we know it today just didn’t exist. Justin Bieber was a 1-year old when the King of Pop snagged the King of Hip-Hop for a feature. And unlike Jackson, he grew up during an era when rap stars like Biggie, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur were just as big as their pop counterparts — sometimes bigger. That’s why Bieber mixes hip-hop so seamlessly on his new album Believe. “One, I think they know it’s authentic and two, you got to remember Justin’s past,” JB’s manager Scooter Braun told MTV News. “I was the vice president of So So Def Records and then I left and Justin was the second artist I found after Asher Roth. So here’s this 13-year-old living in Atlanta, no one knows who he is, and he’s just riding around with me and we’re in the studio with Ludacris. We’re in the studio with T.I. We’re in the studio with Big Boi from OutKast, hanging out and he got exposed to that really early.” Ludacris, Drake, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj all appear on the 13-track Believe, but JB’s hip-hop jones didn’t develop overnight. It’s been years in the making. MTV News takes a look back at seven of Justin’s defining hip-hop moments. “Baby” featuring Ludacris JB didn’t have much rapper swag when he dropped “Baby” with Ludacris at the top of 2010, but the track sounded good, especially when Luda dropped his rapid-fire bars over the feel-good track. When he performed a remixed version of the track with fellow Canadian Drake at the 2010 Juno Awards, Justin further proved that he can rock with rap’s finest. “We Are the World 25 For Haiti” After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, Quincy Jones assembled an all-star cast of musicians like Kanye West, Usher, Janet Jackson and Justin Bieber to remake the 1985 classic. During the recording, the Biebs got to kick it with notable MCs like Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and his long-time friend Nipsey Hussle. “Runaway Love” Remix Featuring Kanye West and Raekwon Justin Biebs proved he “ain’t nothing to f— with” in August 2010 when he linked up with Kanye West and Raekwon for his “Runaway Love” remix. The Chef and Yeezy rapped on the track which sampled Wu-Tang Clan’s dusty underground favorite “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthing Ta F— Wit.” JB and Nicki Sitting In A Tree So what do Nas and Justin Bieber Have in common? OK, kissing Nicki Minaj on the cheek at the 2010 Video Music Awards doesn’t really give Justin that much rap cred, the voluptuous Nicki could sing country music and we would’ve been just as jealous. “Speaking in Tongues” Freestyle Let’s face it, if you plan on spitting rap bars, the name Justin Bieber just isn’t going to cut it. Enter Shawty Mane: JB’s swagged-out alter-ego. Back in October 2010, Justin showed that singing wasn’t his only talent when he rapped over Vado and Cam’ron’s “Speaking in Tongues.” The freestyles didn’t stop there; Shawty Mane also spit bars over the Throne’s “Otis,” Gang Starr’s “DWYCK” and the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya?” The Biebs Shuts Up Tyler, the Creator It takes a lot to quiet Odd Future’s resident loud mouth Tyler, the Creator, but when he and JB met in February 2011, the multiplatinum pop star didn’t let Wolf Haley get a word in edge wise. “When I got in there, he was talkin’ about the ‘Yonkers’ video and sh–. It was weird, because I was sitting here starstruck, like, ‘Oh, f—, it’s Bieber. He’s asking me questions.’ I’m like, ‘Shut the f— up so I can talk to you,’ ” Tyler told MTV News. Lil Swaggy Is Born Not only did 2 Chainz bless JB with a killer verse for his “Girlfriend” remix, the ATL hit-maker also blessed Bieber with a new moniker. “I call him Lil Swaggy,” 2 Chainz told MTV News. Sounds like a winner to us. Related Videos ‘Bieber Live’ Related Artists Justin Bieber

How Laura Jane Grace Came Out To Against Me!

Against Me! speak for the first time since Laura’s Rolling Stone interview, remembering the ‘simple’ way she told them she’s transgender. By James Montgomery Laura Jane Grace Photo: When Against Me! ‘s Laura Jane Grace announced in Rolling Stone that she was transgender, the majority of the story focused on her life … with only a few paragraphs dedicated to how she broke the news to her bandmates. This was understandable, of course, and though the details included in that RS story are scarce, they’re also incredibly endearing: On the drive from Gabel’s St. Augustine, Florida, studio back to their homes in Gainesville, the AM! guys debated whether or not they needed to hit the gym “so that if anyone messed with Gabel, they’d be able to throw down.” But, when Against Me! sat down with MTV News for their first interview since the Rolling Stone piece shone a spotlight on their band, they revealed that there was another reason the story skimped on particulars about Laura’s big revelation: Namely, to them, it wasn’t really all that big of a revelation to begin with. “We went to the studio just to hang out, we weren’t even practicing, we were just having a meeting, and talking, and she just told us,” longtime bassist Andrew Seward said. “It was kind of simple in a way … [and then] on the drive back, because it’s 80 miles from the studio back to Gainesville, I was just going through past lyrics and stuff going ‘God, how did I not think of that?’ ” “I didn’t want to be melodramatic about it when approaching friends … for me, it is a non-issue. It’s something that’s always been there for me, I’ve just never verbalized it before,” Laura added. “I didn’t really plan on it, I forget what exactly we were talking about, but I got to this point where I felt really frustrated that I wasn’t making the point I wanted to make, and I realized I wasn’t making it because I wasn’t fully explaining myself, and the part I was leaving out was this big integral piece of myself. So it just came out of my mouth, you know, and we were just sitting there and it was like, ‘So this is the way it is.’ ” Still, Laura admitted she had no idea how her bandmates would take the news, or even if they’d still be her bandmates after she told them. All she knew was that, both personally and professionally, she was tired of keeping secrets … she wanted everyone to know she was transgender, repercussions be damned. “I reached a point for myself where writing, I couldn’t focus on anything else but writing from a trans perspective or writing about trans issues, and as the album we’re working on came together, it became more and more apparent to me that, at some point, I was going to have to say something to the rest of the band,” she said. “Otherwise, if you’re taking the lyrics to these songs out of context [they’re] going to be misinterpreted … so we kind of reached that point where once we started getting in to doing vocals and you’re hearing the lyrics I was like, ‘OK, this is the deal. … There are going to be things that are going to be happening for me that, if I don’t tell you this right now will probably look more like I’m insane as opposed to this is what I’m doing.’ ” And yet, no one did. And, after being assured by her bandmates that Against Me! wasn’t going anywhere — “It was just kind of like, ‘Let’s still do the band; let’s still do everything we normally do.’ That’s pretty much the extent of it,” drummer Jay Weinberg said — they’re hard at work on their new album; a conceptual record they’re calling Transgender Dysphoria Blues. It represents Laura’s most personal work to date, an exploration of her battles with shame and depression, and the freedom of her new life. And, with her band backing her, she can’t wait to bring the music to the masses. “For me, the fear was, if I don’t do this and I don’t come out with this now, that the band can’t go on. It was just feeling like this is what I need in order to continue to be doing this,” she said. “Feeling like you’re stereotyped into this role of an angry young male, especially in the punk rock scene, was just suffocating to me … And feeling like so many of the things I was trying to express in my lyrics were being lost on people because it wasn’t being framed in the right context, I didn’t even want to do it anymore. … But now, I do.” Related Videos Laura Jane Grace: A Life Unburdened Related Artists Against Me!
