Jones tells ‘RapFix Live’ he wants the Harlem group’s comeback album to roll out with a reality show documenting their recording process. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Jim Jones on “RapFix Live” Photo: Fans have waited eight years for a third Diplomats album, what’s another few months? If Jim Jones has his way, the long-awaited Diplomatic Immunity 3 will be out by the end of the year. “Real soon; might be the fourth quarter,” the Dipset Capo said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” on June 13. Long after the group broke up , Jim, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey announced two years ago that they would be coming back together and dropping a new album. The crew did reunite onstage this past weekend as Drake’s special guests during his concert at Jones Beach in New York, but the LP is still a ways off. “Me and Killa has been working diligently together and recording and things like that. So, everything is moving not as fast as everybody else would want it to, but it’s moving just on time for us,” Jim said, referencing he and the group’s lead MC Cam’ron. “The Diplomat album is definitely in the works.” There is a single in the pipeline, Jim briefly spoke on the Lil Wayne-assisted “Have You Ever Made Love to a Diplomat,” but didn’t say when fans will be able to hear it. If Jones had his way, the roll-out for the Harlem group’s comeback album will begin with a fall reality show documenting the quartet’s recording process. The program would then lead up to a December release for the LP. It’s all very hypothetical at the moment, Jones said. Group member Juelz Santana has been facing some legal trouble after a 2011 arrest following a raid on his New Jersey recording studio. He was charged with four counts of narcotic and weapon offenses. “They charged me with the firearms,” Elz said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” last June. “They didn’t charge me with trying to sell, but they put out a statement making it seem like I was selling weed out of my studio, which is preposterous. Dime bags? I got a phantom and a Bentley outside of my studio; I’m not selling dime bags. That sh– is just crazy.” The drama has affected Santana’s musical output, but Jones insists that he’s been working. “It’s hard when you have a break after another break and things start to pile up on you,” Jim said of his buddy. “In this past two months he’s been recording like a beast, so I know for sure he has like 30-something songs done.” What are your expectations for the Diplomats reunion album? ‘But if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well,’ Flo Rida tells MTV news of his latest single. By Rob Markman Flo Rida Photo: MTV News Flo Rida sure has a way with words. On one hand, the Miami spitter crafts catchy tunes that appeal to the masses, but Flo is also a master of the double entendre, masking some pretty suggestive lyrics with a candy-pop coating. His latest single , “Whistle,” is a perfect example. “Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby? Let me know,” Flo croons on the hook before he instructs his lady to put her lips together and “come real close.” “It’s definitely for referees,” Flo Rida joked when he visited earlier in May. “Well, put your own swing on it, but for the most part I keep it clean, but if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well,” he finally admitted about his infectious pop single “Whistle” isn’t the first time Flo employed such dual meanings. On his 2009 #1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Right Round” he didn’t leave much to the imagination, singing, “You spin my head right round, when you go down” on the chorus. It’s a playful formula that has paid huge dividends for the rapper, but how does he know where to draw the line between sexually suggestive and downright dirty? Well, he gets a little help. “I’m not the only one in the studio a lot of times, so I have my boys in there and they’ll tell me and give me their suggestions and what they think,” he explained. “If it’s too much I’ll go back.” So has Flo ever crossed that line? “Yeah, definitely [on] records that you won’t hear,” he confirmed. “But for the most part I go into the studio with it all planned out.” What do you think of Flo Rida’s “Whistle”? ‘Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her,’ Gaga’s co-manager says of the follow-up to Born This Way. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images If there’s one positive that Lady Gaga fans can take from her decision to cancel a June 3 concert in Indonesia , perhaps it’s this: at least she’ll have more time to work on her album. Yes, though she’s currently in the midst of a two-year world tour, Gaga is already hard at work on the follow-up to 2011’s Born This Way and, according to her co-manager, she’s going to push the boundaries even further this time around (which is sure to please those Indonesian Islamic groups ). “There’s a lot of work to come, [I’m] very excited about it,” Vincent Herbert revealed in a new interview with website That Grape Juice. “[It’s] just [an] insane, great record. She’s on tour right now, but it’s just going to be a great record. Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her. We’re doing it on the road right now, so it’s a little hard, but it’s going to be great.” Herbert wouldn’t reveal specifics — tentative release date, title, who she’s been working with, etc. — about the new album, but the news that she’s recording on the road is actually in keeping with the way she began work on Born This Way, when standout tracks like “Marry The Night” took shape with producer Fernando Garibay during her long-running Monster Ball Tour. “I just kind of got on the American leg of the tour … and she goes, ‘I want to write another song that can define where I’m at with this album and my life,’ ” Garibay told MTV News last year. “I go back to the studio bus; I’m just working on parts … and then, two hours later, she comes offstage and she goes, ‘Do you have something to play me?’ And I go, ‘I do, actually.’ “So I played her the instrumental for ‘Marry the Night,’ and she goes, ‘Open up a mic,’ ” Garibay continued. “She starts laying down the whole song, like, off the cuff … right off the stage, using the energy of that crowd and going into the studio, it was amazing. I can’t compare it to anything.” What do you hope the Born This Way follow-up will sound like? Tell us in the comments section! Related Artists Lady Gaga

Wayne Coyne talks about what happens when you work with ‘freaks’ like Ke$ha on The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends. By James Montgomery Ke$ha Photo: Getty Images Flaming Lips mastermind Wayne Coyne took away more than just a vial of blood when he traveled to Nashville to record with Ke$ha . (Though, really, you’d think that would be enough.) He also left with his first-ever tattoo … not to mention a newfound respect for the wild-child pop star. “Most of the time, if someone’s willing to work with me, they’re going to be a freak. And Ke$ha … I sort of thought that she would be a freak, I’d heard about her and we’d tried to get a hold of her earlier,” Coyne told MTV News backstage at the Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama. “We showed up at her house, and she has a tattoo gun that she gives everyone a tattoo with, so within 20 minutes of being at her house, I had a tattoo on my toe; it’s the only tattoo I’ve ever had. “We were set to do this one song that I had prepared, and we went into the studio that night, and stayed there until about 2 in the morning, and did four songs, just making stuff up,” he continued. “And the next day [we] worked for another couple hours. She’s funny, she’s gracious, she’s imaginative, she’s creative and she’s a lot of fun to be around.” The result of that collaboration (a song called “2012”) shows up on the Lips’ special Record Store Day double-LP, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, a thoroughly out-there collection of songs and sound-collages that — as the title implies — the band recorded with the likes of Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Neon Indian, Yoko Ono and, uh, Coldplay’s Chris Martin … to name just a few. But will fans get to hear even more of the Flaming Lips/Ke$ha team-up? Well, Coyne certainly hopes so. “We really loved making this music together — I think I’ve probably done six or seven songs with her — and I know a lot of her fans like [‘2012′], but I don’t know if we’ll put more songs out there,” he said. “She has other agendas besides doing music with Wayne, you know, but I hope so, because I think it’s really great, crazy, unexpected music. And she, to her credit, loves what we do. She wants it to be whatever. She has no limits of what she wants it to be.” And don’t think the Heady Fwends sessions will be the last time Coyne and Ke$ha share time (or blood) in the studio. If anything, the Lips’ recent output of, uh, non-traditional releases — songs encased in gummy skulls and fetuses, 24-hour noise-jam freakouts that play for all eternity , limited-edition vinyl filled with actual blood, etc — suggests Coyne and Co. are just getting started … and they’re going to get even weirder before they’re finished. “That’s been the beautiful thing about all of these weird collaborations and projects; you work with freaks. Even working with someone like Chris Martin, he’s very open to, like, ‘Let’s do stuff!’ That’s the great surprise about it,” Coyne said. “I don’t think people are surprised when we work with a group like Lightning Bolt or Neon Indian — people think of us as like-minded — but the surprising thing with the Chris Martins or the Ke$has, they’re like us too, they just don’ play music that sounds like that all the time.” Related Artists The Flaming Lips Ke$ha
