Ludacris’ Straits Restaurant Closing, Chicken N Beer Opening

Ludacris has announced that he is closing his midtown restaurant, Straits Atlanta, and will be opening a new restaurant called Chicken N Beer inside Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The airport’s concession contracts were approved Tuesday in a lengthy City Council meeting. Chicken N Beer was also the title of Luda’s 2003 album that almost went gold in its first week out and featured the hit “Stand Up.” The restaurant will serve comfort food and craft beers using locally grown ingredients. Ludacris has operated Asian eatery Straits for four years with partner Chris Yeo. “As I continue to learn and evolve as a businessman, I am extremely excited to put my restaurateur footprint into a new venture inside the busiest international airport in the United States, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” Ludacris said in a press release. “Straits was a great segue into the industry and with Chicken N Beer I can create my own concept. I look forward to expanding my creativity and driving to a much higher plane.” Chicken N Beer will be located in Hartsfield’s Concourse D. Read more here. Jennifer Lopez broke down crying on stage while performing at the Mohegan Sun Casino’s 15th anniversary celebration on Saturday. She walked off stage in the middle of singing. Before going into an acoustic version of her 1999 hit “If You Had My Love,” Lopez told the audience: “I’m going to sing you the last song I wrote about love. A lot has changed since then.” Words on a screen in the background read: “I want the fairy tale. I still believe in love.” She then began to perform “Until It Beats No More” where pairs of lookalikes resembling her and all her famous exes – Diddy, Cris Judd, Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony – re-enacted iconic scenes of her past life (yes, a dancer wearing the famous green Versace dress was there). According to Forbes magazine, they were the highest-earning actresses last year, with bankrolls that topped $30 million each. Jolie’s haul was thanks to the worldwide success of her thriller “Salt,” which took in $300 million, and “The Tourist,” which co-starred Johnny Depp and raked in $280 million, despite mostly lukewarm reviews. Most of Parker’s cash came from her payments for reruns of her TV series “Sex and the City,” on which she is a producer. She also took home additional payments from the second “SATC” film, which rolled up $290 million in international box office. “People may be surprised to see Sarah Jessica Parker up there but they may not realize that in addition to acting, she earns big from her perfumes and endorsement deals,” said Forbes ‘ Dorothy Pomerantz. In fact, SJP earned $18 million in 2010 from her successful perfume line alone. Overall, the top 10 female stars in Hollywood earned a total of $218 million from May 2010 to May 2011. Just behind the top two earners are Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon , who each took home an estimated $28 million. Though Aniston has developed a reputation for top-lining a string of middling romantic comedies, even recent films that looked like flops turned out to be successful, including “The Bounty Hunter” ($136 million) and “Just Go With It” (more than $214 million). Rounding out the list are: Julia Roberts ($20 million), “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart ($20 million), Katherine Heigl ($19 million), Cameron Diaz ($18 million), Sandra Bullock ($15 million) and Meryl Streep ($10 million). Could Wearing Saggy Pants Land You In Jail? Janet writes: I remember years ago sitting in an enclosed patio of a New York City restaurant when a man came up and pressed his private parts against the window. Like a scene out of Sex in the City my girlfriend and I gave him the itty bitty sign and kept on eating. I was about 25 years old at the time, that was then; but the other day while driving my car, I came eye to thigh with a young black man sporting the shirtless, dreadlocks, pants down below his penis look. I could clearly see his privates swinging in the breeze and he was strutting like a chicken, head bobbing back and forth checking to see who was checking him out. I almost drove into a tree, not because he looked like a Chippendale dancer, but in outrage that this seeming intelligent young man would expose himself like this in front of me and the rest of the world.  I wanted to pull over, get out of my car; and like the mother that I am, scream what my mother would have screamed.  “ What in the hell do you think you’re doing?” Find him a belt and whip his bared behind, and then put my belt around his damned pants.
